Kind of early to say that, isn't it? I think it all depends on how severe Conel's injury is. If Conel can get back by January, there is probably no reason to pull Beard's shirt just yet. However, Conel needs to continue to knock off the rust after his long inactivity and get in better condition; recovering from another injury isn't going to help any.

Be to fair, Conel's career college record coming into today is 80-25. Had wins over Rasheed, Josh Hokit, and Patrick Brucki, plus of course the magic at 2018 NCAAs. Didn't consistently face the toughest competition while at Kent State, but still, 80-25 is pretty good.
LP is going to find this eventually... Beard beat Bolo 16-0 last season.

In other news, Sammy Sasso made a bad mistake in the first period of his bout against VaTech and got decked pretty easily.

In light of Conel’s loss, thank goodness this board wasn’t shortsighted enough to start a thread celebrating Teasdale’s recent defeat.
Liked what I saw there from Teske...needs to work on bottom (Hildebrandt was pretty solid on top in all fairness), but he does appear to have a good motor and a lot of fight in him.
I thought he was robbed of that TD too and with how good he was on top, that could’ve been huge!

This board was smart enough not to be claiming Conel was a world beater without any recent results. If anything, there were a lot of questions whether he was the right guy at 197. Compare that with Iowa's threads on Teasdale claiming he was already a high AA threat without a single college match and you will see why that's a rather dubious comparison.

Nick Lee had a total of 3 pins going into the NCAA Championship last season. He matched that total in his first 3 matches this season. That's a pretty decent start.
18-0 TF in the 2nd. Just ground the CMU kid into the mat.
Gardner grinds out a win against an athletic army kid, lots of great waterfall td defense, finishes a shot in the 3rd to ice it 3-0
Screw that. It's sports. You rag on your rival when they're down and they do the same to you. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Completely horsed the CMU kid. Just picking him up while on his knees angling for better pin positions. Lee looks really strong
Verk seems to have heat in the first and less later. Early season thing? Mental? Cut a challenge?

Nice win for Luke...not sure if it’s been said, but that Army kid - Ogunsanya - beat Cole Martin (Wisconsin) in a dual this year and was 26-17 last season.

A little uninspiring for sure. Seemed a little disinterested in 2nd and 3rd.... length gave him some trouble
Saw he had the advantage, switched my eyes to Verk's match, boom it's over. My eye quickness is not in mid-season form.
