as good as there defense is they are a legitimate threat to win it all. As matter of fact the only team as much as it pains me to say that I think can beat them is Bama and Tagovialoa and that is a toss up

Not a toss up. Different class of team.
Michigan is very good defensively. However, that offense will have trouble scoring against Bama, Clemson, or Notre Dame (just kidding). It is not a good offensive squad.
Michigan is really good, but that can't hang w/ Bama. Even up w/ LSU and Clemson.
Alabama, LSU, Clemson, and ND (already did) can all beat Michigan. The first 3 probably handily.
Not to completely discount the on any given day thing, but no comparison from top to bottom. Just watch the dudes Bama has running up and down the field on special teams.
I started saying this a few weeks ago. There is absolutely no excuse for this Michigan team to fall short of the conference championship. That defense is very impressive.
I think there’s too many playmakers on Bama. Michigan could keep it close for a quarter or 2 but that’s about it.
Program Needs: Better defensive tackles and ends, linebackers (on the way), a free safety, a left tackle that can hold up, a better offensive scheme - agree with the poster that is calling for more physical play.
Bama's oline is on another level. Goldilocks would be a non-factor against Bama.
We have a pretty good D. I'm not so sure I would completely discount Michigan's O.
The biggest problem with Michigan re: vs Alabama is that what they do best plays right into Alabama's strength. Bama would likely destroy this Michigan team a lot like they did that Sparty team who was similarly built a few years ago.

I'm watching the Alabama LSU game right now and I would never compare any facet of their team to Michigan. I say this knowing full well that Michigan has a very good team. During the game an Alabama DE sacked the LSU QB swung his right arm hitting the QB on the right side of the helmet (no call). While covering an LSU WR the CB crossed his arm in a downward motion, nailing the WR on top of his shoulder. They are big, fast, physical and very thug like. Not sure how I would categorize Alabama but they don't look like a typical college football team to me.
Plenty of people gave tOSU a chance in that game. tOSU O was a well-oiled machine in complete balance. Bama is a completely different team this year too. Sure they could lose, but they are the best team and UM is not of the same caliber.
Meyer had been recruiting the same caliber players leading up to that game. In the end they eked out a one TD win.

And a game day head coach that isn’t a weekly joke for his/her pathetically stupid in game coaching decisions, personnel moves (how is farmer still playing?? Or any upper classman WR??)
Just watched Bama destroy #3 LSU - it wasn’t even a game and LSU was at home - they will win it all - no one is close to them

Don't know about this year vs the Browns, but Bama has come north in November and kicked PSU's ass.
A well-oiled machine on offense? They barely made it in and were playing a 3rd-string QB in his first start.
We made Michigan look exponentially better than they are by refusing to make them face a healthy QB. Our defense played well enough to at least make the game close.
Last year's team would have beaten this year's Michigan team because of the multiple physical mismatches they would have had to deal with. Trace was healthy, and our receivers and Barkley could catch the frickin football.
Actually, I think they could beat an all time Hall of Fame NFL All Star team. They are that good.
