Yeah. Kind of the vibe I catch when I go over there, too. At first it was kind of funny, and then I began to realize that it wasn't a schtick. Like, I envision him yelling these things while typing, as his wife shuffles down the hall to watch more Judge Judy, in a house that smells like old people and vinyl.

I think it comes down to that any very successful program will have an entitled fan base. I think their expectations or more like the gable years that what's going on now
And I think they kind of realize that it's not coming back, ever. Sanderson is obviously a great recruiter and coach, it's obvious they're developing wrestlers, and we all know that Pennsylvania is the top high school wrestling state and country.
Penn State just has all the advantages of them right now and it's not going to change in the near future.

As for Bob, the guy knows very little about wrestling and if you pay attention you'll find the guy is full of shit much of the time. Some of you might remember when he told us he was at the match when Carr punked Murin with the crying gesture. Only problem was he told us it happened in a gym in another state. Lol. The deal with Bob is if/when Iowa can co.pete with PSU, he wants to go down as one of the people who made it happen. It was suppose to be Spencer Lee to make that happen. "Gable had the richest club in the nation for his career-- Roy Carver donated a couple million dollars early on to fund the club.. in todays $$ that would be like 10mm or more."
What is the answer?
I have a few thoughts but one that keeps coming up is $ and the constant nudges in every thread that alludes to, you want improvement—donate, but who is the steward of those dollars? I donated to HWC and realized some decisions were a bit frustrating. For years the club was non existent...

That would be Randy Novak, former president of HWC. Not sure his current role (their new president is Brad Eldeen) but they seem to understand it's essential to actually fundraise rather than whine that Penn State has more. Understandable. University rules likely prohibit using endowment funds for bail and defense attorneys.
Ultimately, this is really my fault...expecting a realistic, accurate portrayal of Iowa's dominance of American wrestling.
Gable's bonus scholarships didn't hurt either.

I may be the outlier, because I neither hate Iowa nor think Bob Nicholls is somehow bad for Iowa wrestling.
Wrestlers routinely wore Iowa t-shirts when I was in high school in Western, PA and Dan Gable was at the helm.
Later this year, a recently minted nephew-in-law of mine will be taking up residence in Decorah, IA. I may end up visiting him and my niece, so I think it's best to maintain good standing in the state.
