Interesting, so I guess we are back to crime hypothesis.
Far from it. Self-made man through real estate investment and property management. Sounds to me like he didn't grow up much different than I did in a hard working family and from modest means. Biggest difference seems he grew up outside of Chicago while I Pittsburgh.I don't know Bob's background but he sure comes off like a guy that inherited his money instead of earning it.
True. If I ever meet him, I'll ask. Just like I might ask Ira Lubert about "dark money lunchtime discussions," the next time he's within arm's reach. Odds of either of these happening, slim to none. There is not even any proof the HR report nutjob is the same person. An anonymous message board seeems like a good place to claim you are the rich savior of a once glorious program.

He is the principal owner of Monarch Mountain, a ski resort in Colorado. He is CEO, President, and Owner of Monarch Investment and Management, Group.
If you want to put a face to a name and some background leading to his current station in life you can read this:

He went to Iowa the year before Gable became head coach and ran cross country for them. He became a CPA. He went out on his own to start his first real estate investment firm in 1992.
I don't see anything wrong with how he made his fortune or chooses to spend it.
He's still a dick. (@PSUer1989 makes a good point. Maybe the psycho on GIA is a poser.)
I was going to say "I've known and continue to know a lot of dicks." but then I thought "Phrasing!"He's still a dick.
I was going to say "I've known and continue to know a lot of dicks." but then I thought "Phrasing!"
Fact is the general family consensus is my Dad was a bit of a dick (God rest his soul... should never speak ill of the dead.), my older brothers (all alive) can be dicks (Dickish tendencies increase with family seniority, IMHO), and, yes, despite being the youngest male, I have been known "to be a dick."
In 36 years working in large enterprises, I have come across, what I consider, my fair share of dickish behaviors.
But I digress. Under certain circumstances/stress/triggers, many people tend toward acting like a dick. If I had a son and they did, I would say to them,"It's not that you are a dick. It's that you are exhibiting dickish behavior. Let's work on eliminating that behavior together." 😃
Should a true non-dick refrain from categorically labeling another, whom they've never met or seen in a variety of settings, a dick?I'm not sure why the frowning face @98lberEating2Lunches
This dude instigates the ped stuff on HR/GIA. I appreciate the background info that he did well and made some coin in real estate. But he's still a dick.
He's a douche bag. He has an ass hoke face. 🙂Far from it. Self-made man through real estate investment and property management. That just plain does not sound nice, and I don't even know what an "ass hoke" is.He's a douche bag. He has an ass hoke face. 🙂
@WexfordWarrior - I hope this recent exchange doesn't push you follow thru on your prior consideration to put me on ignore. (🙏)
I don't like using the old ignore feature. I tried it but ended up bored/curious enough to read what was posted anyway. I have went through stretches over the years where I tried to ignore things that irritated me and my ignoring seemed to make no difference in my life. I have been married 38 years to same woman and we ignore each other at times, but it hasn't paid dividends for me. She bought a new RV once when I ignored her enough that I said sure whatever to one of her ramblings. I ended up driving that pig to South Padre and back on icy roads as a punishment for my brain numbed agreement. We all become victims of our habits I guess. My wife knows full and well I will agree to almost anything if it is far enough in the future. I will agree to join her cousins at a campground in Minnesota for a long weekend if it is asked a couple of months out. The lady is Pepperidge Farms when it comes to exactly quoting my approval back to me 7 weeks later when it is time to pack for the trip.
I read this aloud to my wife of 35 years. She was laughing. Then she asked, "Is this guy your doppelganger?" Despite vocabulary not being her strong suit, we seem to be making a pretty good life together.I don't like using the old ignore feature. His business plan to earn his fortune was pretty brilliant - I.e. focus his efforts on the outskirts of not so sexy cities that aren’t worth the time of developers focusing on “sexier” cities and areas. And he’s certainly worked smart and hard to get where he is. His actions to put the squeeze on vulnerable tenants during and right after the pandemic are problematic. But that’s late-stage capitalism for you.Far from it. Self-made man through real estate investment and property management. If he’s going to tar us with the same brush re Sandusky - even though none of us had anything to do with that and want pedophiles thrown in a fire - it’s only fair he gets lumped in with the racists throwing bottles at our black athletes and yelling slurs at (checks notes) Nate Jackson, Austin Gomez, Mark Hall, and Kyven Gadson, among others. We all can take shots at his business practices. Real estate management is a tough business. Soft hearts don't survive in that arena. We can mock him for his continued references to us as Ped State. He's earned those jabs by his (some would say) "dickish" behavior.
The one thing I would love to see disappear is referring to him as Racist Bob. I have no idea what lies in his heart, or most anyone else's for that matter. I do know that most of us have behaved in certain ways previously that would embarrass us today. I think we all carry some burden of racism regardless of or skin color or religious beliefs. All we can do is learn and try to be better about those things every day we walk the earth. I know that I'll be a work in progress in that regard until they plant me under a tree. When Bob is referred to as "Racist Bob" here I cringe every time. Can we just leave that moniker off this forum and just focus on his boneheaded comments?

I personally believe the poster is the Bob Nicholls based on our exchanges. Also, if he wasn't the real Bob Nicholls, I would think this would've been discovered, reported, and the handle banned.
I would like this, but can we arrange it for the Olympic Trials?Bob and I are practically neighbors. If you would like to arrange a detente, I’d be happy to represent the board, in the most mature of manners, obviously. Put something on our calendars. Maybe dinner after the world teams challenge tournament. I will have the old lady sous vide some grass fed filet.
Is this better? The one thing I would love to see disappear is referring to him as Racist Bob.
Could we meet under a bridge somewhere just in case the detente doesn't go well? The sous vide grass fed filet would still be welcome and a nice touch. Or not.Bob and I are practically neighbors. The NCAA/B1G just wanted this to go away. It wouldn't have been difficult to show intent and gender bias. The ignorance/bad math was heavily skewed towards men's programs and not women's programs. For example, Iowa somehow miscalculated the formula for nine men's programs with an excess of 19.52 combined scholarships. Using the same formula/bad math for the women's programs should have also resulted in overages as well, right? Yet, Iowa was in compliance with every women's program and awarded no additional scholarships to their female student athletes over the audited four year period. What reason did the NCAA have to state it agreed with the B10 proposed sanctions "because of a lack of intent on the part of the individual institutions to violate NCAA regulations or to gain a competitive advantage"?
It gets as dark as I've experienced. My bro who lives in Tucson sent me an article that said NASA identified a dead spot in the north east. It was Cherry Springs. Apparently it has the least amount of man made light on the east coast. You are encouraged to put red cellophane on flashlights and change your phone to a red screen.
Sorry, I just saw a Ped state post by him today , I have no sympathy if he gets it back. The odds are much greater that he's a racist than 500,000 or so people connected to a university support pedophilia. We all can take shots at his business practices. Real estate management is a tough business. Soft hearts don't survive in that arena. We can mock him for his continued references to us as Ped State. Bully for him - he’s still a pork-faced dickhead. I’m not interested in paeans to a guy who leverages Sandusky on message boards 12 years down the road - certainly not on this board
I can understand your rationale, if all universities had been providing equal opportunity to women athletes.Using the same formula/bad math for the women's programs should have also resulted in overages as well, right? Yet, Iowa was in compliance with every women's program and awarded no additional scholarships to their female student athletes over the audited four year period.
To each their own. As a taunt, it doesn't impugn me in any way.I just saw a Ped state post by him today , I have no sympathy if he gets it back.
Thanks. I assumed Title IX didn't cause the NCAA to reduce in men's scholarships until like 1993, when wrestling's were reduced from 11 to 9.9.Title IX was 1972. The NCAA said the issue dated to the late 1970s.
NCAA SET TO PUNISH BIG 10
The NCAA has censured the Big 10 and will withhold $75,000 in grant money to the conference as penalties for a faulty league policy that allowed seven schools to hand out more scholarships than per…www.chicagotribune.com
But for accuracy, it might have and then again it might not have, no?Thanks. I assumed Title IX didn't cause the NCAA to reduce in men's scholarships until like 1993, when wrestling's were reduced from 11 to 9.9.
Still, my other point about some Universities not necessarily awarding full compeiments of allowable scholarships remains a distinct possibility.
Might not have changed that much, if I read this correctly:
These 20 universities stiffed female athletes the most on scholarships. We asked them why
Some of the biggest college sports programs in the NCAA short female athletes on scholarship dollars, a USA TODAY investigation found. We asked why.www.usatoday.com
Right. Without actual underlying data nobody can really know. But for accuracy, it might have and then again it might not have, no?
