B1G Championships Session 4 Thread

I for one thought the team wrestled really good. A healthy Suriano changes everything. Zain, Nolf, cenzo, hall, cutch and Nevills wrestled good. Other than Bo and Jimmy (that was ugly) I thought the guys did what they were supposed to. Hall is right there with Bo-jo. Definitely don't need to lose sleep over this. PSU has a very realistic chance to have 4 guys in the NCAA finals, and if my prayers are answered maybe even 5. That's damn strong !!

Outside chance at a maximum of 7
125 - Suriano, of course depending on health
149 - Zain
157 - Nolf
165 - Joseph (real potential with the 3 seed)
174 - Hall
184 - Nickal (despite the feeble, faint hearted fans who think he can't beat Martin)
Heavy - Nevills needs the 3 seed and find a way past Medberry

Lock for 2, almost lock for 3 (if Nickal can get by that scary guy Martin).
A healthy Suriano would also be a near lock but we'll leave him out for now.
I like Joseph's chances for 4 with having the 3 seed
Hall is a wildcard with seeding but he has the skills so possible 5
And Nevills needs good seeding and to find a way past Medberry

Hall and Nevills have the hardest road but 5 finalists are definitely within reach despite some annoying fans myopic reactions who confuse opinions for facts.

True statement about Suriano, but seeing him limp around yesterday (13 days after the injury) has me concerned about how effective he will be at NCAAs 12 days from now. Captain Obvious, I know.

You'll walk your comments back in time for Thursday, haha.

He didn't win the OW. Zain did. The other one was a B1G award, and we all know how they slobber over tOSU and MI.

Actually, I think it's the opposite - the actual B1G Award (i.e., the Tourney sponsor, the Conference) went to Zain. The "BTN's OW" (i.e., the broadcaster) went to Jordan. The official award is the former and the latter is meaningless.

Would way rather have Bo lose in B1Gs then NCAAs. People are making a way bigger deal out of it than they should - a good example would be Mega last year.....lost to NATO in B1G semis, but won the National Championship over NATO a couple weeks later at NCAAs. Bo is fine, if anything I think it will make him even better at NCAAs as he will learn from this weekend and adversity often makes one stronger.

It was the perfect storm for Penn State. 3 things went wrong.
A. Suriano injury.
B. Gulibon performance.
C.Nickal losing to Martin.
They could overcome one of those outcomes. They had no margin of error.
I like to praise the performance of Mac. He showed a lot of heart. Hopefully some of his desire rubs off on the 141 pounder.
Just wondering if anyone else thought maybe Hall got hurt,(back?) on that shot half way through 3rd period? He seemed to get pretty conservative against that Tank.

He nearly beat a guy who weighed about 20 more pounds than him. Impressive if you ask me. But our philosophy hurt us there. In general, our way wins, but today, their way won.

I would doubt that Hall hardly cuts weight. What time was weigh ins for today championship bouts. If it was in the morning Jordan probably put 10 pounds on by this afternoon. Weigh ins should be 2 hours before your 1st match of the day.

It wasn't philosphy, it was a Freshman, albeit an old one, going out against the 2nd seeded tank. Hope he wins the next one because it was super close.

Megaludis never wrestled NaTo at NCAAs

"Won the national championship over NATO"

Which is exactly what he did. Are you denying that Nico won 125 last year over NaTo and all the other 125s?

Franklin never said he wrestled NaTo in the NCAAs. If he did, then point me to it, and I'll admit to being wrong.

He said he lost to Nate in the big ten semis which leads me to believe he thinks he beat Nate at nationals

That's literally what he said

Nope. Again, show me where Franklin says Nico wrestled and/or beat NaTo in NCAAs. I'm not interested in your inferring what he meant or "leads (you) to believe he thinks".

Ask him yourself, but what you've shown me is nothing but your attempt at interpreting what another poster meant with no basis.

So he didn't say Megaludis lost to Nate in the semis of big tens

Welp...thought your guys would come back and do it but the men of Tan came to wrestle...especially that Moore.

It's almost like they are peaking or something:D

My bad, it was everybody's favorite 125 lber, Gilman, wasn't it...
Thanks for the clarification, and yes it was Gilman

Why are the Hawk fans now Ohio State fans? I don't know how that works exactly?

Are the two programs now joining together? Are they interconnected somehow?

I thought one was called Iowa and the other was called Ohio State?

I've thought this also. I don't like Iowa, but unless we would benefit from it, I would never root for an OSU wrestler against a Hawk.

Exactly. Iowa did not win anything, by Ohio State winning. They're acting as if their team won, and their team is not Ohio State.

It's like this past year with the national playoff: Washington got in, and Michigan was left out. MY team, however, was also left out. I didn't go out in the streets and celebrate Washington's birth in the playoff though, as if it was our own.

Yeah, but somebody finished ahead of Penn State, even if Iowa finished behind them.
