OT - Best Rock Trio Ever!!!

Drummer for lamb of God is the best drummer currently and it isn't even close. The double bass is sick as shit
Adler? Or the new guy?

I am partial to metal drummers, Love them ALL.

Lombardo
Hoglan
Bostaph
Jordison RIP
Adler
Bent

Ohhh, and Raven (Great trio BTW) just released a new album. They are showing their age but in their prime their drummer was INSANE. Not so much talented but he was a crazy MF.

Meh. Double bass stuff like his can technically challenging but musically uninteresting to me (and many more). But it all depends on your genre preference. “Blast beats” are toward the bottom of my list of things that impress or interest me, drumming wise. But I am just one man.

I loved Blink growing up, but Sublime pretty much invented/popularized a whole genre. Both had big influence on me growing up in the 90s. Based on a lot of the answers, I am guessing these bands were a little late for this board's demographic.
WHAT are you insinuating?!?

Surprised with all the different bands mentioned, not one of Mountain. While not my favorite trio, certainly worth a mention.

Whoever slipped in Sleater-Kinney, well done. Not a band I expect to see on wrestling forums, but one of the absolute best. And Janet Weiss is on the shortlist of best drummers of the 90s/00s.

If anybody is looking for great current drummers, Jason Gerycz of Cloud Nothings is incredible. I’ve seen them a bunch live, including a couple weeks ago in Philly, and he’s just mesmerizing to watch - he’s like 6’6 and looks like an octopus behind the kit, his sticks are just a blur of motion the whole time, his hands are impossibly fast for how big he is. They’re kind of a noise punk/indie band, so not everybody’s cup of tea, but the band is great and he’s spectacular. I don’t usually like these reactions videos, but it’s a nice cut up of him playing “Wasted Days” at Massey Hall in Toronto.

I am old but by favs were Piace, Baker and original drummer from Tull, Clive Bunker!Really so many great ones!

They were far from the best ever and most people don't really like jazz, but these guys were great musicians and a nice change of pace for me in the early 90s. Got to see them at The Crowbar and they put on a really fun concert.

WRONG!

When talking about the best rock trio of all time, there are two, and only two possibilities - Rush and ELP, pure and simple.

BTW - ELP had some discussions with Jimi Hendrix at one point about joining them, but it didn't come about.
At my 50th HS reunion, I bumped into a guy I barely knew in high school. - In the marching band, I was trombone, he played baritone (I joined the band to get the best seats at the football games). We went through the usual "What did you do?" thing. Turns out, he was some kind of sound man for ELP. He spent his whole professional life with them and said they were the nicest guys in the world.

My two favorite trio's are America and ELP. If you could include Folk than I'd have to consider Peter, Paul, and Mary.

No love for Danny Carey?

Keith Moon has some incredible performances. The Who at their peak were a pretty incredible live act.

I actually liked Zac Starky (Ringo Starr's son) better in The Who. He had a lot of Moon in him, but was more steady, which allowed Entwhistle and Pete more freedom. Starky was also the best drummer Oasis ever had.

No one has mentioned Keith Carlock of the latter day Steely Dan or any of a number of jazz drummers? Btw, Bill Kreutzman for the Grateful Dead from 1971-1975, when they had only one drummer, was highly underrated.

Q:) Who sang at the Last Supper?
A:) Peter, Paul, and Mary. 60's humor.

If you go the folk or folk-rock route, I've been an eternal Crosby, Stills and Nash devotee with a bit of (Young) thrown in for spice. I saw C,S,N in concert. Saw Crosby, saw Nash, saw Young. But never Stills or C,S,N,Y.
