Block in the back & PI call

Right. Pitt had a ton of penalties. Our penalties actually took points off the board or negated a few huge chunk plays. The hit out of bounds early in the game was a joke and the call on Juwan on the long Sanders run was questionable. In the end none of it mattered.

We won 52-6, enjoy it. There's no need to complain about officiating after such a game.

It dont see it as complaining, more like pointing out what were questionable calls. I think people can still enjoy the victory while discussing other things about the game. So when is the right time to complain or point out refs calls? Is it after a loss when everyone says sour grapes you lost, why don't you complain after a win...

Two of the worst calls I’ve ever seen!!!
Killed that long run and TD to go up 21-6...unbelievable!!!
I was going back and forth between this board and the Pitt board during the game. There were a lot of complaints by Pitt fans about the officiating. Fans of all schools pick out what they consider are bad calls and ignore those that go in their favor. I thought, over all, it was a fairly called game.

The hit out of bounds was terrible, but I didn't have an issue with the block in the back or the PI on JJ. JJ did not sale the "pick" nearly good enough and the block in the back gets called a majority of the time. Till this day I don't understand why the kids still commit this penalty. Even if they throw their hands up in the air it looks like they committed a penalty. Simply don't touch the guy and see if your teammate can make the defender miss or break a tackle. Franklin even said that he agreed with both calls and that the PI was very obvious.

JMO but thats the perfect time to complain...no sour grapes so to speak.
And there were some horrible calls and non calls.
And besides its John O'Neill's crew and they suck.

Pitt was damn lucky they didn't have 20 penalties, seeing how O'Neill's crew missed some really obvious pitt holding and 2 facemasks.

The so-called block in the back was called by the back judge from the opposite side of the field. All he saw was the Pitt defensive player go to the ground not a result of any block. He never saw a block just the result. Awful call. The PI was the right call IMO. JJ was basically stopped facing the defender. Easy call in retrospect. OOB I will pass on.

I thought the refs were horrible all around. I cant remember exactly what the call was but it was right when Duzzi got called for 15 yards. I remember saying " oh well, Ill take it though". There was a TON of holding not called all game.

I’m usually as critical as anyone re: our friendly Big 10(14) officials, but didn’t have any real issues with them on Sat. Considering it was O’Neill’s crew, we could have been told we were lucky to be playing.

The sideline roughing call wasn’t called on the tackler that drove the Pitt player out of bounds, it was called on the last PSU player that came in and made contact for the first time 5-6 yds out of bounds. The push itself wasn’t much, but the lateness of the contact was what was called.

I do agree the NCAA needs to address facemask incidents, the one on McSorley was exceptionally violent. Some grabs are certainly accidental, but when a player hangs on and hangs on and hangs on, they should be disqualified.

I have no problem with Franklin calling for a review on Slade’s “fumble” because it should have been reviewed by the booth anyway because it was a very close call. It doesn’t matter what the score was or the time in the game, a play like that is the booth’s responsibility to review. Franklin was in effect forcing the booth to do their job.....and, of course, the ACC replay official then blew the call as Slade’s arm / elbow was clearly down before the ball came out.

The PI on JJ was the right call.

The hit out of bounds on Pickett and the block in the back were uber iffy.

"Ify"? More like completely fabricated bs phantom calls - what made the particularly inexplicable is that O'Neill's biased, PSU-hating douche-brigade managed to ignore and "not see" multiple blatantly obvious and extremely dangerous Personal Foul Facemasking Penalties (as well as beyond obvious blatantly Illegal holding by ASWP OL on Pickett scrambles)...go figure?!?!
