As I was looking through results of the blood round starting at 125, I was surprised how many quarterfinal losers (who only needed 1 more win to be AA) lost in the the blood round. In the first 5 weights only 7/20 quarterfinals losers won their next match in the blood round. After looking at all 10 weights 20/40 quarterfinals losers won their blood round match. That still surprises me. Generally speaking you will have higher seeds in the quarterfinals losers vs their blood round opponent, and their blood round match is only their 2nd match of the day, whereas it's the 3rd match of the day for the guys working their way through the early consolation brackets. To be fair, 3 quarterfinals losers did mfft in the blood round (Berge, Marianelli and Lewis). But still, I am surprised that more guys losing in the quarters didn't make AA.
