Bo Bassett announces @approx 8:30 pm Eastern

Good, just please get it over with. His whole process has been a farce. Screams huge ego. I don't care where he goes, but will laugh if it's Iowa (as I think it's a poor choice after all this drama). I'm certain who ever PSU slots in to face him in the future will do just fine.

Well Jax had his picture with a team mate and a penn st recruit at the match of the year. So I thinking he's heading to the good guys.

I've already said that I'm kind of lukewarm on this one even though I think Bassett's definitely for real. I've also said many times that I hate NIL and think it will be the death of college sports as we've known them. So, it won't be from sour grapes, but I truly hope that these rumors are NOT true and that someone isn't throwing that sort of money at a kid. This is not what college sports is supposed to be about and it will create all sorts of issues and problems for the coaches, the universities, the kids who are not having money thrown at them, etc. etc.. Hopefully just a bad rumor and young Mr. Bassett will choose the school that's best for him with little consideration for who's willing to pay the most.

Weird, just last week he said he'd probably announce sometime this summer. Something quickly changed for him....
I hadn't heard about this summer, but as I recall Bassett had previously indicated he would announce sometime in the spring. In any event, surprised that Bassett isn't dragging this out at least a couple more months. Maybe even he is getting tired of it.

If that 5 million is accurate, I highly doubt it's PSU. That kind of money could cause a real problem for whatever team gets him. For example, if it is Iowa, does anyone think Ferrari isn't immediately going to be looking for an equal amount to wrestle next season. That would be 10 million for two guys that haven't accomplished anything at the next level yet.

Maybe is was a "when you know, you know" moment. Over thinking isn't good. He knows the programs, he knows the training partners, he knows the coaches. He has done the visits. Time to make the announcement.

I just don't see PSU offering a record break NIL deal with the lineup here and the recruits they have in their sights on. Hope it's PSU but if not good luck until you face PSU.
Bingo.

I’ll even believe this if it is PSU. I don’t believe they’re going to break the bank on an incoming recruit and not the 10 other hammers.

It's approaching football transfer money. At least those guys have usually accomplished something on the field at that level.

So I guess I missed all this 😂. Bassett is going to Iowa? Well, unfortunate I suppose.?

Didn't we just curb stomp them and throw them in the dumpster yet again,? 😂

If he wants that, more power to him... starting next year he can choose between Shayne Van Ness or Tyler Kasak lol, after that P.J. Duke 😂

Poster on 247 claims it was PSU as of yesterday but Iowa came in with $5M NIL offer which may have changed things. No idea if this is credible or not
The $5M offer, if true, sounds like Iowa coming over the top.

I was thinking Ohio State had a real shot, with the reported $1.2M they offered Blaze, and other aspects such as Rudis and distance from home. But $1.2M isn't even in the same ballpark as $5M, which is crazy if true.

Never understood the infatuation with Bo or any other recruit and don’t think any one wrestler is worth breaking the bank. I believe we get the right kids and just going to continue to know that our staff know what they are doing and will succeed with the wrestlers we have. Already don’t like what NIL has done to college football and looks like wrestling isn’t far behind.

Everything points to one of two things:

  1. So impressed by Friday’s dual that he’s ready to be part of the dynasty now
  2. The man with the money behind the Iowa program wants the narrative to change right now. The money is there if he commits right now.
(Despite picture size and placement)
Yeah I am having a hard time thinking it's number 2, but whatever. Anyone at all who witnessed that mass murder on Friday would not be choosing Iowa unless Slumlord Bob said f it and handed him 5 million.

Here it. Actually said by midsummer. Then says it won't be coming quickly...

Well...guess that last part changed. Lol

Which raises the additional question, how do the guys that have accomplished something react to this? Ayala, Caliendo and even Arnold if he AAs may be looking for a big increase in NIL as well.

I dont care how good he is, I wouldn't offer him a record breaking deal at PSU when I have already have Lilledahl, Blaze, Duke, Mesenbrink, Barr, Ryder etc etc.. to keep happy and not feeling short changed ...

And what's left for the other highly touted recruits. At some point the money does run out.

All signs point to #2. Bob flew in to close the deal on Friday, and it took $5 mil. The reality for Iowa is that nobody with options wants to wrestle under the current leadership without taking enormous payouts.

or maybe he wants to stop the process because it's already out of control. Pick your team and a lot of this ends for him. I'm sure recruiting is fun in many respects, but this part can't be that fun. I will end with this. If you have to buy someone, what does that say about your program. I hope that thought entered Bo's head as well. I'm sure it did.

Bob is a smart businessman. A smart businessman isn’t going to make best offer and let it sit there so competitors can get there shit together to match/beat it. He’s going to put a deadline on it. Like a 24 hour deadline.

It’s a comical number. This is wrestling. Not football. Why would anyone care enough to want to shell out that kind of $$? The value is simply not there. Consequently it’s hard to believe even $1M.

Bob had no choice to go all in considering for I don't know how many years now he told Hawk fans the field has been leveled. As goofy as this may sound, I think he'd be willing to go broke to keep from looking like a fool in Hawk circles... lol

Yep keep thinking that… I told everyone I think Basset is the biggest recruit ever(in terms of skills+get more recruits+ eyes on program)… if Basset really does go okie state, and I’m having a really bad feeling he does… Jax and Melvin miller and younger Basset following him too

Kids will wanna join in on the student(DT) takes down the mentor(Cael) narrative… got a bad bad feeling bout this… there ya go all u fu RU u got no shot wit basset, u got ur damn wish!
Maybe I missed it, but what credible source ever indicated that Jax would go wherever Bassett goes? I keep seeing this, with nothing to back it up. But maybe I missed something.

Conversely, based on family ties, Miller and the younger brother following Bassett seems more likely.

And how many of the high end transfers and recruits have turned down the money bag at Iowa. Compared to how many have taken less to train under the PSU staff.

Jax and Bo are not a package deal

I’ve never been so rich to say what I would or wouldn’t spend my money on if I were, but if you desperately with a passion wanted to put your Alma mater back on top in the sport you believe you’re supposed to be on top of, and you think there is a guy who all will follow and get you there, I can see it.

Tom and Terry, too.

Wouldn't it be just like those two nimrods (three, including Slummie), though? To not have the situational awareness of what money like this could do to the room? Quite frankly, I don't think either of them have the emotional IQ to handle it properly.
