Bo’s next opponent announced

I know nothing about MMA fighters, but some FB comments say Paul Craig is a good opponent

Nickal faces a steep mountain to climb against Craig, who has had an up-and-down run at 185lbs since cutting from light heavyweight. He most recently fell to Caio Borralho at UFC 301 by second-round knockout.

Craig has earned wins over the likes of Jamahal Hill, Shogun Rua, and Nikita Krylov during his UFC tenure. The 36-year-old Craig is a complicated puzzle to solve for any opponent.

Nickal’s wrestling base will face a challenge against Craig’s guard, arguably one of the best in the UFC. But, the two middleweights have also shown to be capable strikers if opportunities present themselves.

Definitely a step up in competition. Craig has one of the better submission games and is good off his back so Bo will have to be careful. I still think Bo runs through him but it should be a bit tougher than his previous fights

I didn't get a screen grab but perhaps it'll emerge somewhere--Bo Nickal was on the big screen tonight at MSG to help hype the UFC card during the Rangers Winnipeg Jets game, wearing a Rangers jersey. The on-screen graphic erroneously stated that it was Nickal's MSG debut.

He’s fighting Paul Craig not Paul Davis. I’m excited to see Bo wreck someone. Guy has really good bjj but no wrestling and barely any striking.
He Knocked out a UFC Champion.........Jamahal Hill. I would say he has some striking ability. :)

This is the fight. He knocks him out from a triangle after breaking his arm. No striking from his feet

At this level I guess everyone has some ability in all areas but bjj is absolutely his strength and striking is his weakest area. He actually pulls guard in mma fights just to get the fight to the ground

After round one Bo outstruck 16-15. Close round
Round Two: Bo out-strikes 21-16. No takedowns.....no control. Bo is connecting on over 50% of his punches. His opponent is connecting on less than 33%. Still close
Round three: Fight ends: Bo with 50/88 strikes. Craig with 42/147 strikes. No takedown, control or submission attempts. Judges decision coming
BO WINS 30-27 on all cards. Strike breakdown: RD. 1: 16-15 Craig. Rd. 2: 21-16 Bo. Rd. 3: 13-11 Bo. Pretty close fight by the numbers.

Boring fight. Bo really didn’t do anything. Fans weren’t happy. Yelling “overrated”

He probably won but not convincing. Didn’t try a takedown attempt once.

Hard to believe Bo was afraid to wrestle, but he was. Not a title contender with that type of effort.

He still has a long way to go. I won’t doubt him though. I just feel he’s still trying to figure out what kind of fighter he wants to be

“Afraid to wrestle” isn’t exactly an accurate description. More didn’t want to grapple. He had the better of Craig on his feet. Probably could’ve taken more risk and landed more, but the fight really wasn’t super close.

But yes, the guy with 7 career fights is not ready to compete for a title. He’s pretty much said as much in every interview he’s had.

Bo stepped up his competition a lot this fight. Craig is no bum. But he is also not an elite fighter. Bo apparently feared his Jiu-jitsu enough to not try a takedown. A boxing match between a wrestler and Jiu-Jitsu specialist turned out to be boring. Shocking. Bo has a lot to learn still. Undefeated is still good :)

A lot of fans in attendance who are not MMA fans. They wanted to see blood or 2 guys just swinging at each other. Experts in MMA praised Bo for not letting anyone get in his head and never putting himself in danger. Very smart fight by Bo. The crowd should have been booing Graig he was behind and never really tried to win the fight. The expectations for Bo to just destroy people is the problem. It’s not realistic. He has still never lost a round in the UFC.

Wrt Bo, Dana wasn't particularly happy with the fight. Bo played it smart. Work on his stand-up. Dana likes his fans to hate or love. He'll be getting a much better boxer next time. Could be a career decider.
