Brandon Meredith

I'm really thinking this kid is our 125 pounder. Your right though keep working and keep improving

Based on one match? What about Teske finishing 3rd at Army where Meredith was 5th. Meredith lost 7-2 to Jack Medley in the consys and Teske beat Medley 5-4 in the 3rd place match. I'd say who our starter at 125 will be come BIGs is still pretty much up in the air, but right now I would give Teske the inside track. I love the effort of all 3 of our kids at 125.

Agree with NoVa, it was a nice win, but is was one match and you have to look at the body of work. Not to be a downer, but maybe the Penn kid was sick or something.

It was based on how he wrestled at clarion as well I get it not saying he is the starter there is a long way to go I was just saying he he showed something at clarion and in that one match that I liked. I'm behind whoever earns the spot

Being objective, I'm not worried about who starts because I would be happy if either Brody or Brandon just qualified for NCAAs, I wouldn't expect any points at all. I think both of them have AA potential down the line but not as RS FR and that's fine.

Like it's been said here many times, we're spoiled with some quick developing studs and having had multiple all time NCAA greats come through here.

I could also be totally wrong here and I hope if one of them AAs this year, someone pulls up this thread and calls me out ;)

From what I have heard, Brody suffered an injury ( either in practice or during the asu match ). If I’m not mistaken he is registered for Wilkes so it will be interesting to see if and how he wrestles ( if the rumor is true ).

Any one of our 125’s could be considered a “suprise” but this kid just seems to have something the others havent shown. I saw a lot of JC in him.

Reminds me a little of Conaway in regards to not being a national profile recruit out of high school, but a very solid wrestler at this level (i.e., far out-wrestles his recruiting profile).

I followed Meredith's career in high school. Just to refresh my memory I went back and watched a couple of his HS matches, He was a good, solid wrestler. But that's about it. He placed 3rd at Regions as a Senior, and didn't place at states.

From that to beating the 10th ranked wrestler in the country? Who said Cael doesn't know how to coach lightweights?

Very proud of my former MP Youth wrestler. He’s been wrestling in the same room as Beard since he was 10yrs old. Is it possible I’m going to have two kids in the starting lineup this year? As former starter on the team and now coach, it’s a dream to see this. So proud of both of them.

Side note: Brandon’s grandfather has worked the PSU Ticket Office for years. To say his family are PSU super fans is an understatement. They bleed Blue and White!

So was there a preseason wrestleoff between Meredith and Teske? I know the rumor was Schnupp beat Teske. And then Meredith beat Schnupp at Black Knight. But I don’t remember hearing if a Meredith/Teske match had happened.

Every couple of months, we need to deflate the Conaway myth.

Everybody knew he was good -- hence how many calls he got when Liberty canceled its program. He finished 6th-3rd-1st his 3 trips to states, with 2 of his losses to Keener and Schram.

The problem was, he was a 103 lb JR. Those guys are high risk of not growing into college 125s. Also he committed early to Liberty -- some rankers are influenced by an athlete's school choice.

Didn't Conaway beat Evan Silver, who was #1 in the country at the time, at the Dapper Dan?

That was at the HS weight of 112 lbs -- neither Even Silver or Bret Conaway were big-time national recruits (let alone being a #1, or even top 10, prospect at the Collegiate level).

Silver was #1 at his weight nationally before the match.

You're right that neither was a top 10 recruit, but Silver was a top 40 recruit, and that's still big time. Nate Brown and Nahshon Garrett were both ranked considerably lower.

PD3 was ranked lower still, around 80th. He went on to become the only wrestler to pin his way thru the 184, 197, and HWT brackets at nationals in the same year.
