I don't think Mumia is innocent.
Hurricane Carter was proven innocent.
Jerry Sandusky isn't innocent. And the only reason you guys think he is is due to the fact that you want to see Joe exonerated.
You may be right--technically. But I betcha they go after it anyway. The prosecution and courts have not done much in this case "by the book".
Sure they did. That still doesn't take away from today. We now must all live with this. They admitted guilt. Its reality. We simply cannot walk away from this. 2 men admitted guilt and did not do enough to stop JS. Its that cut and dry.The state of Pennsylvania hurt Penn State forever. The old-guard trustees hurt Penn State forever.

I agree with you. But you obviously get it. This is the worst of days. We cannot ignore what happened. To be perfectly clear: I'm inclined to agree with you.
But playing devil's advocate: After paying for Freeh's opinion & presuming their full guilt of the last 5+ years, what does Penn State owe them?
Ok, I just don't get this part. "help with the problem" always made since with boundary issues, makes no sense with Ped. issues. Even back in 98 ped was considered very very difficult to "control" what help did they expect to give him.
The Church frequently sent priests to psychs that work with offenders. Most don't believe pedophilia can be cured but a minority do. sending them to psychs instead of prison was considered the "humane" thing to do and also protected the Church from embarrassment.
This isn't about headlines. This is about those that have to pick up the pieces. That's who matters. There are no excuses.Yeah, O.K.
We can read headlines or we can be intellectual and understand what really happened. Granted, most Americans are lazy and stupid, but that doesn't mean we have to be.

Sounds like some folks in this thread need to nut up and untangle their panties.
This, like other aspects of this sordid tale post-2011, will be news for about 2.35 minutes. Once it's gone, BWI is going to be the only place where it's rehashed time & time again.
Penn State was not built by two men and it won't be torn down by two men who made horrible decisions.
You may be right for now (the media is already misreporting on this) but for all we know there are other shoes yet to drop from the other side. Maybe the state tried really hard to get Spanier to plead out so they could put this disaster of a case behind them but he refused bc he wants to take his chances with the jury (since he has a federal investigation clearing him) and expose the malicious prosecution by the state and possibly the real enablers of JS (TSM and CYS)? I still believe the state wants nothing to do with this going to trial. Well see if Spanier sticks to his guns or not.
If this goes to trial and Spanier is found not guilty would you still think its all doom and gloom?
There's also the alum review of freeh report and a few other lawsuits (Paterno vs NCAA) floating around that may turn the tide (if the media ever reports on them) once adjudicated.
This isn't about panties, or nutting up. It's about reality this nation can never walk away from. Guilt was admitted. It's done, and it's over. That's what this was about. Now the real questions start. Why? WTH didn't they fight? They did owe Penn State that much at the very least. Penn State is far bigger than 2 men or their families. An entire Penn State family stood behind them for 5 damn years. Don't give me no panty BS.Sounds like some folks in this thread need to nut up and untangle their panties.

Anyone can say or believe what they want, it simply doesn't matter. This is the worst case scenario and we all know it. They plead guilty. It's done, and Spanier is on his own now. It kills Penn State, and that's what really matters. I won't go into other areas as that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter why, or the end results. They just hung Penn State, and the rest of us have to pick up the pieces. It is what it is. No one gives a damn what they plead to, or if they do jail time. It is now up to Spanier. If these two testify against Spanier, it's really done. If that occurs, the writing is on the wall. Truth be damned, they hurt Penn State, and there's no walking that back. Reality is painful, but that's not what's important here. If more comes out, that's beyond sad and disgraceful. Looks at this point that Joe was the only one that did the right damn thing. There are no excuses. NONE.
An entire Penn State family stood behind them for 5 damn years. Don't give me no panty BS.
It's not about media or the public. It's our scarlet letter. It will never go away. It's not about football success or anything else. 2 of our highest admins admitted guilt. That will never go away. That's what this is about. It kills Penn State? 95% of the public has assumed they all were guilty anyway. Nothing changed. You'll have a week of huffing and puffing and some opinion columns etc.
People have been trying to dig our graves for years. The haters get their "win" today. Its Christmas/4th of July for them. The news cycle will continue to churn on and Penn State will continue to be a great University filled with great people, great academics, and a great athletic program. You aren't going to change peoples minds, we've learned. Keep on, man. Straight ahead is not very far.

I always speak for myself. It's reality.Speak for yourself, Hotshoe.
Have a beer--seems like you need one.

Meanwhile, PSU has argued in defense of C/S/S.

Many, many people hate Notre Dame. That doesn't stop Notre Dame from being Notre Dame. So we will wear the black hat with a certain segment of the population. It is what it is.
Stop worrying about what other people think, you'll drive yourself crazy.
Turn the tide against what?
You actually think any of what you mentioned, or today's news, is going to influence the way the public thinks about this? Furthermore, who cares what they think?
Good lord, get a grip.
I don't care what anyone thinks. I've never not worn my Penn State gear. It's that they owed this community more. They owed Penn State to stand up. If they didn't, then they did something wrong. They were entrusted, plain and simple. Many, many people hate Notre Dame. That doesn't stop Notre Dame from being Notre Dame. So we will wear the black hat with a certain segment of the population. Ah, Chinatown. One of the great screenplays.Everyone assumed they were guilty anyway. Nothing changed. It's like Chinatown. Sometimes there is corruption that you can't overcome.
Did you miss the part of my post where I said "if the media covers it"? There's already been revelations that fell flat bc the msm didn't cover them (see finas commente re: Joe not being involved in a cover up). Take today's news for example, no one in the media seems to be asking themselves why the state would drag a case on for 5+ yrs and go from multiple felony charges to one misdemeanor if there is all these mountains of evidence against the "evil" child abuse enabling admins?
Get some reasing glasses.

Newsflash: We ALREADY wore the black hat with a good portion of the nation, long before Sandusky began molesting children.
Why would you even say that? Don't even go there with me.And if you're "too embarrassed" to continue to wear it, that's on you....not Curley, Schultz or Spanier.
Some just love to take a "victory" lap.Wait, did you say guilty? G-U-I-L-T-Y? I hadn't heard![]()
...and it doesn't matter what the media does or doesn't do...because no one cares outside of Penn State circles...and nothing that happened since 2011, including today, is going to change that fact.
Those that hate us will continue to hate us, those that like us will continue to like us.
Huh? Maybe they resented that we took such pride in wearing the white hat? Otherwise I don't know what you're talking about.
It actually does matter. Penn State isn't a bubble in Pennsylvania. From academics to sports, it's not a PA bubble. What happened today is real, and it does have effects....and it doesn't matter what the media does or doesn't do...because no one cares outside of Penn State circles...and nothing that happened since 2011, including today, is going to change that fact.

Then you're beyond naive. Not only has it cost us millions, it's cost us recruits in numerous sports. You really want to argue this? Really? Enjoy. I'm done with this crap. Reality hit us like a brick wall today. It is what it is.No it doesn't.
Please take this opportunity to use the Ignore feature.
No disrespect, and I fully understand. Life is just bigger than that sometimes. They have sacrificed 5 years of their lives. Unable to work. Maybe you missed a PA judge and jury handing MM $12 million because Bill O'Brien wanted to hire his own staff, god forbid. Or Kane being shipped off to jail for leaking GJ testimony, something this corrupt crew does like breathing air.
When you are in the jaws of the machine, you just want out.
