When Bo body-slammed Brunson, I told my wife two things: 1) "He's going to get a penalty for that." and 2) "He doesn't mind a bit. That looked like a 'thank you' for Brunson's 'oil check' in the dual meet." (Did Bo seem almost angry at times to you?)
In the post-match interview, Bo mentioned wanting to get some cheers from the Iowa fans. Don't know how many of you saw Brunson deck Meyer in the semis, but after the ref slapped the mat, Brunson followed up with a "gun show/ear cup" combination to the crowd. He seems to relish being the bad guy. While the Iowa folks have been very complimentary of Bo on their board, I wonder whether the cheers might have had as much to do with their opinion of Brunson as of Nickal.
Great tournament to watch. Happy for Jimmy...nice touch when Cael handed him the trophy to hold for the team photo. Nolf/Martinez alone was worth the price of admission (or, for me, the $14.95/mo. for the Big Ten Plus package), and I had been very interested to see how Retherford/Sorensen would play out. Bo could have gotten OW as easily as Zain did. (Of course, so could IMar or NaTo.)
Nationals should be blast. OKST has three or four guys really improving, Iowa will be right there, especially if Stoll can rally physically (Did Grothus get an all-time unlucky draw or what?), and tOSU has good top-end potential.
