I saw where Howard will be redshirting and is not a 126 pounder but a 133 pounder, leaving only Meredith.

Ah, the "Flo guarantee". I remember there was a time when Flo had asked me to give them some money and in return, they would give me exclusive access to watch a wrestling event. But there was a catch, you see. Because, halfway through, my exclusive access wasn't available. Instead, I was watching a feed from a cellphone video on facebook...along with people who hadn't paid the same sum of money I had. So, needless to say, I take everything from Flo with a rather large grain of salt.

As Mr. Whitters pointed out, I would expect Meredith to improve. Pretty much only a dummy would think that spending more time in that room would not improve one's skills. However, he isn't going to improve enough to be a top tier Big10 125 pounder.
As far as Howard goes, he has stated numerous times (prior to his shoulder injuries this season) that the plan was for him to wrestle 125 his freshman season. With the shoulder issues who knows.

Shoulders can be very dicey things with wrestling with many examples where it can hamper a career.

I haven't seen anything indicating he needs off season surgery yet, only talk that he is an 80% version of himself right now.

I could see a scenario where he has surgery and uses next year redshirt with a possible future conversion to a 6th year, who knows.

I think he was definately our plan for 125 next year, but would be pleased if we now looked for an insurance policy, via the portal or elsewhere if possible. At this late date both are a crap shoot at best and Meredith would probably beat either option.

What about the Matt Parker kid that transferred in from Lehigh? Is he still on the team? Or did he have to sit a year?

Brandon did about as good as I could have expected as a RS FR walk on. He hung tough in basically every dual, only Spencer and Paetzell bonused him. Showed flashes of potential by beating Colaiocco and the 3rd against DeAugustino. Will he improve? Absolutely. What's his ceiling? Who knows but I know I'm very glad we have him in our room.

EDIT: Hildebrandt majored him also but not a dual
