Yeah, I am old. Yeah, many of my posts can certainly be deemed "classless."

That's why i feel I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to tasteless demonstrations.

If we were wrestling fans outside of Penn State most on this board would have made some type of snide comment about their celebration. Admit it. Don't be a bunch of hypocrites.

I along with most of you have given Cael & Casey tremendous accolades for their unparalleled performance in recent wrestling history in producing elite, classy wrestlers.

To me those celebrations were a step back in the classy department.

Wait...didn’t you just post a diatribe about ‘Tina’ Brands, but now you’re upset that a 20 year old Mark Hall celebrated with 2
seconds of air guitar after defeating the defending national champion?

Wait...did you fail reading comprehension? What part of "many of my posts are classless" did you not understand?

Secondly, this post is about the wrestlers, not me. They represent a higher standard than I do.

I

I guess when a team is as dominant as PSU, fans have to find something to complain about. An air guitar and shoulder shrug are NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. Let the kids show some emotion and have some fun!

Precisely. I’ve got no problems with a little flexing or air guitar. Certainly not an advocate of taunting, but good natured celebrating shouldn’t be discouraged.

You hold 18-21 year old college students to a higher standard than yourself?

You should be banned.

Some of the garbage you post in the wee hours of the morning after you hammered half a bottle of cheap gin....

I still have no idea of the garbage you posted about 3am last night.

Seek help.

LOL, I don't drink...I just act like I do.

Ludicrous. It's a joke that their brief celebrations are cause for such protest. Just young men having FUN. Should the all be exactly alike? Like robots? No, thank you. Celebrate on, boys!
WE ARE!!!

Sure, let's just bask in the glow of our wins and bury the classless demonstrations. Let's become the Miami football players of the 1980's in our actions!

I missed where they entered wearing full camo and fake weapons....declaring war. I agree that is a classless act and should warrant severe punishment. Is that why ESPN refused to show it? Good for ESPN! Still can't believe they showed that disgusting AK47 shooting disguised as an "air guitar" And that finger wag...….we know he was pushing the red nuke button at the day care. I am filled with consternation!!

LOL, they obviously have not gone that far. I am talking about how Miami was one the first college teams to do the on field celebrations. Respect your opponents! :)

I'm not going to get into the classless conversation but I will say that Zahid showed a lot of class for a guy who just lost the 2nd match of his career when he immediately went over and shook the PSU coach's hand. That to me demonstrates class more than anything and is why I respected the Jordan's from OSU because they act the same way in defeat.

Agreed!

God has spoken, and in this case, quite elegantly.

...much ado about nothing...
... there was some testy head slapping at the beginning of the Hall/Valencia bout but nothing to warrant a warning...
...much more disturbing to me were the wild antics of ASU's assistant coach ... I think he wanted to be sure he was noticed on the TV feed...
... oh, well... :(

Good forbid you watch an NFL or NBA game.

Or Gable Steveson for that matter.

I will grant you Zain and Nolf are the top of the "class" pardon the pun, but IMO Both were pretty tame by almost any measure. I think there are much bigger things to warrant a concerning post.

I used to spend close to 50K on pro football and NBA tickets. I stopped paying and watching games almost 20 years ago because I can't stand the antics.

Zain, Nolf and most others conduct themselves tremendously.

The individual antics in and of themselves were admittedly not earth shattering. But when you have:
  1. RBY shaking his finger
  2. Hall playing a guitar
  3. Cassar shrugging his shoulders
it all starts to add up. Believe me, most everyone posting negatively in this thread would be the first ones to complain if it was Iowa or some other team doing it to PSU.

BTW...I loved the pun!:)

So you think nuking a daycare is a bit too far? I think ye needs to grow a pair. Collateral damage is a reality of celebration. To the victor...….Sorry.....I am such an a-hole when the wine is good :)

hey, hey man, hold up here a second! Any reference to the Michigan fight song is bad form here!:D Enjoy the vino!!

I doubt you have seen me post anything negative about a student-athlete, ours or theirs.

I have no problem with Mark posing after winning his title, flexing after pinning Lewis or after turning and walking away from his defeated and fellow national champion opponent strumming a 2 second chord on his air guitar.

I have yet to see much of anything on the mat from a Penn State wrestler that causes me to cringe.

I had no Idea this in any way related to a booger. My bad. I shall violently flog myself with a sand wedge until the wine runs out :)

PS: "That'snot funny".... said Harbaugh ….. Damned this is good stuff :)

lionlover! get off my lawn!

here's another perspective...

when it became clear Mark was gonna win the match I thought, 'i can't wait to see what he does.'

and he delivered. not overstated. not unsportsmanlike.

loosen up ol' fella!

Hey.....go to bed!

Full Disclosure.....I was thinking the exact same thing as the match ended. I agree with your assessment. After hearing almost every "expert" dismiss Hall's chances......I was guessing he was going to react. Pretty Understated I thought. Both guys are to be greatly respected. They will bring the US. medals in the future.

California middle school and high school wrestlers all seem to shake the opposing coach’s hand. I don’t watch enough college wrestling to know whether Zahid and other Californians usually continue the habit in college. Did Morgan? Does Nick Nevills?

I like the celebrations. I was glad when the NFL let them re enter the picture. I'm not a fan of taunting, but celebrating is not only ok but preferred in my eyes.
