My HS team is pretty rough. Low numbers in a traditionally-rich hockey city. We're trying to build, though. Sent 1 to state in each of the last two years, hoping to send more than 1 this year. Convincing kids to wrestle on an already losing team, while they lose and learn the sport is difficult.
We don't air guitar after we win.
Haha. Well, more power to you. Reminds me of my HS team freshman year. Maybe, MAYBE we had 9 kids. No support from faculty or administration, but by far, the best coach I've ever had. He made such a lasting, positive impact on my life. He wrestled at @smalls103 alma matter, Easton. Infact, they may have been varsity a year or two together. My point is, if you can get through to one kid, it can mean much more to them then just the wrestling stuff. Good for you. I hope you can get a few guys to the big tourney this year. Keep me updated!
I agree and if the point is to show up the ok ther wrestle nothing speaks louder than just shaking hands and walking away like you were supposed to beat them .that's why Nolf is special he lays the bands down and walks awayGosh, this thread had everything. Shows what a diverse community we are.
Too many one-percenter posts, and several departures from the rails, but eliminating those posts, not a bad read.
One more man's opinion;
-- All behavior on the mat is a reflection, not just of the wrestler, but the coaches and the program as well.
-- We can only guess how Cael feels, and reacts.
-- My values are that anything demeaning your opponent is wrong.
-- I recommend looking at these things from a neutral view. If your guy does it and its ok, and an opponent does it and it's not ok...the problem isn't the wrestler's actions.
Easton PA. Home of the best HS wrestler I ever saw in person. Lightning in a bottle and at that level simply unstoppable. I suspect before Willie's time but he was a 3x, and it was funny to see how terrified other kids were to even wrestle him at states he was that good
His only problem in college was he was undersized.
Here's a clip showing how fast and dominant he was winning his olympic gold and then running around the mat holding his new son.
OMG, that's the first time I ever saw Weaver. You coined that right! "Lightning in a bottle." I don't know if he's the quickest wrestler I have ever seen, but I can't think of anyone quicker.
Kid wrestled the new Penn State style for certain. My God was he active!

That's 'cause you've never seen me wrestle. I could be on my back and pinned quicker than you could say "look at those Rec Hall lights."
