lionlover: I'm shocked that you don't call out Nolf's arrogant arrangement of the ankle bands as he recklessly celebrates his victories! He obviously has no class.
ZV is a class kid. Cael wanted him bad but couldn’t fit the brother...I'm not going to get into the classless conversation but I will say that Zahid showed a lot of class for a guy who just lost the 2nd match of his career when he immediately went over and shook the PSU coach's hand. That to me demonstrates class more than anything and is why I respected the Jordan's from OSU because they act the same way in defeat.
I thought Anthony was the better recruit coming out of HS?ZV is a class kid. Cael wanted him bad but couldn’t fit the brother...
Shaking the other coaches hand in victory or defeat is classy

I always understood that shaking hands with an opposing coach was a tournament tradition since at at dual you have the traditional end-of-dual handshake line making the intra-dual handshake redundant.![]()
There WAS something different in Cassar’s display, which not only appeared to humiliate, but wasn’t against a top ranked starter and....it didn’t even happen at the end of an exciting match. He kinda waited around after the hand raise to do it.God forbid anyone shows personality on a wrestling mat. If that continues, the sport may eventually be watched by someone who doesn't have cauliflower ears. Nobody wants that.
Hahah. And every time he does this I recall his stoic response to Quint Kessinich’s question after winning the NC “Were you having fun out there?”So true, don’t forget Nolf’s arrogant “#1” hand gesture when getting his hand raised... horrifyingly classless.![]()
To your double standard comment. I also agree. Seriously, if someone with the talent of Snyder did the AC after beating Alex Nicholas, would any of us be happy??My personal preference is to see wrestlers walk back to the center, get their arm raised, shake the other coaches hand, and run back to their corner. Same as just handing the ball to the referee after a TD. Act like you've been there before was always mantra as a wrestler and a coach. It is up to our coaches to decide where the line is and I'm sure they will address anything they feel is too much.
I do think that fans need to hold their own wrestlers to the same standard as they hold others to, so if you complain about a little post win celebration when an Iowa wrestler does it, you can't come on here and say what Hall or RBY or Cassar did is ok. Having a double standard if far worse than anything these kids are doing after a big win. Either be consistent or go home. A double standard just makes you look like an ass.
AC is now being held to the standards of an Olympic gold medalist? Snyder is one of the most decorated wrestlers in the world. Cassar has been busting his butt to make the starting lineup of his team. I think beating "a backup" means a hell of a lot more to AC, because it means he is finally wrestling. To your double standard comment. I also agree. I had no issue with the other celebrations.
Sheesh. Ok. If Tanner Hall had beaten Nicholas did the shoulder shrug eye roll and WTF.... We would have had a problem with it.AC is now being held to the standards of an Olympic gold medalist? This is a good thread you started and valid point but going far out t o compare to Miami spoils it and discounts your reasonable first post. You are blinded by your blue and white glasses if you can't see the similarity.
Hall and Cassar did not do anything that was horrible, but it did stand out and quite honestly, if you guys are going to be the "TEAM" to beat, you will be the "TEAM" everyone notices, judges, and looks for fault in.
And how about all those flashy shoes those young men wear. Such insolenceI once saw Zain Retherford clap his hands after beating Logan Steiber, and I was so horrified and appalled that my monocle fell out.
the other guy was a fish
OMG. Unreal to say the least. Let's make everything boring with no fun or excitement. Life would be so fun. LolYeah, I am old. Yeah, many of my posts can certainly be deemed "classless."
That's why i feel I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to tasteless demonstrations.
If we were wrestling fans outside of Penn State most on this board would have made some type of snide comment about their celebration. Admit it. Don't be a bunch of hypocrites.
I along with most of you have given Cael & Casey tremendous accolades for their unparalleled performance in recent wrestling history in producing elite, classy wrestlers.
To me those celebrations were a step back in the classy department.
Point taken. I did my best for people to grasp the concept of who he was wrestling. Bad job on my part to try yet another angle. This is much less ambiguous as well as more direspectful to the competition and his family than an innocuous shoulder shrug.
