Chase Young gets 2 games

Hey remember this clever little prank Fleming pulled right after he announced he was going to become a nut?

It's really not that funny, when everyone knows it's true.... While he may not have gotten the vehicle from Brutus, something got him to switch over to the dark side... and given his gf or xgf is Penn St. student, I highly doubt it was free airline tickets to the "vacated bowl."
Prized ride for our prized recruit. We want him driving through happy valley in style.

College players taking online classes is trending further up. Now you're trying to make that a conspiracy? Dear lord.
It’s not a conspiracy but when your starting qb says he heard the campus is nice it shows he’s not interested in being a student athlete. And that’s ok. It’s not against the rules.

Im sure he thought the campus at USC was nice. Doesn't mean he has to go there or be there 24/7. You're making a huge assumption on someone's life that you don't even know.

This was just cleared with the NCAA. If you think it was an agent, then you are also saying this is a huge cover up between OSU and the NCAA and yea that's not going to happen.
The NCAA has no subpoena power. The only people required to talk them in this case are OSU staff and athletes. So "cleared with the NCAA" is not the same as "not an agent"

Conspiracy? No... it just violates the entire spirit of college athletics when a college athlete never has to go on campus. I understand that there are some classes taken on-line but this is a bit extreme don't you think?

Not really. Fields seems like he's a pretty antisocial type of student. Maybe he doesn't like the traffic, all the students, the walking, etc that comes with being a regular student. Being able to take all your courses online is extremely convenient, I don't know why more people don't do it in 2019

Did it ever come out who the "family friend" was who gave him the loan? I still find it it odd that he met this person for the 1st time during the summer before he entered tOSU. I'd bet he enrolled during summer semester so that makes me suspicious too.

He enrolled in June and signed his LOI in Feb. Never knew the guy before he was associated with OSU.

Raise your hand if you were shocked he only got a 2 game suspension, and would miss Ohio State's least difficult games.

Anyone, anyone? Bueller?

Yeah. Thought so.

You knew punishment with at wet-noodle was coming!!

What a joke.

Ohio St., if memory serves me correct, has the LARGEST NCAA compliance dept. of any university in the Big Ten and maybe all of college football.

You think they are there to protect or 'skirt' NCAA rule and reg's???

Well we know that the alleged slur didn’t bother him until he realized that he was not going to win the starting job at Georgia until his senior year. If it bothered him that badly he would have left right then. He didn’t go
To
Osu for school
And that’s ok. It’s
Just another example that osu is semi pro and it works well for those who are good at football/

At Penn State not only do they have to go to class, they have to sit in the front....but I guess that just adds to us being holier than thou. Could be why Fields didn’t go to PSU.

If he was anti social at Georgia he would still be on their team or sitting out a year waiting for his eligibility after transferring to OSU.

All the traffic? Why is he driving anywhere? Walk. It's what college students do.

As I posted before, the NCAA is always willing to act when it doesn't matter.
If OSU had lost, it would be easy to act.
As it worked out, OSU asked for a 2 game suspension and UMD/Rutgers don't matter.
That was easy.
The funny part is now he'll have fresh legs after 2 weeks off and be fresh for Nov 23.
Couldn't have worked out much better. It's almost as if the B1G tries to take care of a couple select schools or something
Where is Bushwood when we **really** need him?

Turn on the BushSignal.

OSU IS A JOKE. No such thing as a student athlete there. I know some alumni who know and are embarrassed that their real degrees have to be associated with these “student athletes “. They put winning ahead of any moral code and will lie, cheat, and steal to get ahead.

Family friend. Loan. Paid back. So his girlfriend could see the game.

Anyone who believes this ought to have their head examined. $5500 must have been for good seats LOL.
Lemme guess, the "Family friend" happened to be an agent or someone else who stands to gain from being Chase's "friend."

Good points but they apparently aren't getting money to have their girlfriends come see them play in the Rose Bowl. They're still broke college kids basically.
When did any broke college kid need $5,000 to get their girlfriend to the Rose Bowl?

"I want to thank and express my sincere gratitude to university staff members who worked so diligently and expertly to learn and understand the facts, and then to report these facts to the NCAA as part of our request to have Chase reinstated," Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said in a prepared statement. "This is the example of the culture of compliance we have at Ohio State. I also want to commend Chase Young and let him know how proud we are of him. He took responsibility for his actions, cooperated throughout the process and understood and accepted that there would be consequences."

Unbelievable! How scary that two of the three the NCAA has selected to deal with pay to play are the $uckeye president and Gene Smith. College sports are doomed as corruptness will have no boundary. No hope at all for fairness, integrity and competence.

One thing that is crystal clear... the ability of Fan Boys to believe what they want to believe about "their team" - no matter how incredibly ridiculous - is infinite.
Truer words have never been spoken. I'm just surprised to hear them on this board.

Food for thought and not directed at Ohio State in particular: if you’re going to cheat and spend money to do so, wouldn’t it just be easier to pay refs than to pay for talent that may or may not pan out, may or may not decisively influence a game?

Nobody knows more about what goes on at OSU than PSU and Michigan fans that's for sure.

Please list all the Buckeyes who have been caught taking money? After you write this list, see if you think they are each an isolated case or maybe a pattern. It might be helpful to you.

Who said they don't pay the refs as well as the players? Certainly not me. Not after what I've witnessed over the years anyway.

You would hope it would lead to more than two national championships in 60+ years as well. Maybe a refund is in order.

I do not know the best pass blocking technique to handle Chase Young. But, I do recall Orlando Pace consistently blocking one of the best in the NFL, Dwight Freeney when no other OT's could. Pace said he punched Freeney as soon as he came out of his stance causing him to loose his balance and having to reset.

Not many like Pace (Ogdan, Boselli) come to mind also. But, trying to block Young by backing up in the normal pass protection simply does not work on a consistent basis. We will find out soon.
