Coralville Freestyle event - Feb 26

No shade to Exeter High but a great wrestling high school? No so sure about that Bo. The comparison to Apple Valley was a bit much. And the prediction of big points from ADS? Ended with zero.

I think Desanto could have been a 3 or 4 time champion at Penn State. His grip strength and pace are crazy, but he lacks technical scrambling ability that he didn’t get with Iowa coaching.
Gross is one of the best at scrambling. Austin couldn't get any type of clean finish and got exposed on the mat. Also, Austin looked very tired

Bryce Andonian VS Austin Gomez

Gomez is hand fighting hard & pressing forward again. Andonian gets a front headlock & hangs on for the rest of the period.

Period 2:
Andonian shoots off the whistle. Gomez counters, gets a body lock & drives Andonian out of bounds, for 2 more, 4-0. Tying up in the center. Gomez pushes forward. Andonian snaps, but Gomez drops down & tries to roll Andonian over, but Andonian shows great defense & only gets hit with a step out point, 5-0. That looked like it was going to be 4 for Gomez. Great defense by Andonian! Gomez drops to a leg & gets another TD, 7-0, no turns & restart. Tying up & pushing, 1:20 left. Gomez drops to a leg, but Andonian fights him off. Gomez shoots again, gets a leg & adds a TD & Turn for the 11-0 TECH!

Zahid looks like a guy that could put on a ton of upperbody muscle and wrestle a higher weight if he wanted to. Always has looked like it.

But it was the same story versus RBY. He got to Roman’s leg about 457 times, but couldn’t finish a TD.
