PSU didn't play it's best game, tip your cap to UM there a little bit. Bottom line is PSU just beat ranked teams back to back and they are 7-0 and more than likely #6 in the country.

  • Clifford played well again. The 2 throws on the first TD drive to Dotson and Pat F were insanely good throws.
  • Happy for Slade to bust out that big run. I hope to see some more from the ground game, but I think Rahne and Franklin appeared to say we will beat them with the deep balls. UM sells out on the run and we came up with enough of them to win. I think that is why Cain only had 5 runs...MSU will do the same next week IMO.
  • Micah Parson was awesome last night, best game so far IMO. He was all over the place.
  • UM took the DL out of the game with the short passes, look for this trend to continue. DB's and LB's have to diagnose this quicker and tackle in space.
  • Hamler is incredible, but we do see someone else step up sooner or later. Dotson is a little bit and Pat F is there, but Shorter, George, or CSB need to really elevate their games soon.
  • 2 weeks in a row this offense got the critical yards to close out the game on our own terms against 2 really good defenses. That is championship football....although this schedule and a crazy good tOSU may have something to say about that.
  • 8-0 into the bye week has a really good sound to it. Hopefully the boys can stay up for a 3rd week. For those that are naive and think it's just that easy.....See UGa and Wisky the last 2 weeks.
  • Recruit reactions have been extremely positive....keep winning...PSU is getting there.

Agree. Will add winning the TO battle is essential. Clifford has done a great job with the ball this season.

Agree and will add this:

  • If KJ's return is not called back, 2nd half is a different game.
  • If this team plays a complete game and gets a few TO's, Ohio State can beaten.
  • Having said that, college players are not robots, Michigan State is not a gimme.
  • No whining about the refs this week, we caught a few calls early in the game. More than due.
  • Nice to Franklin get a few monkeys off his back.
  • With Wisconsin losing, even with a loss to Ohio State, we should be in the Rose Bowl.

I agree with almost all of that. Additional comments:
  • 1 or 2 LBs often crowd the LOS and blitz a lot. I think that makes it more difficult to cover the short pass.
  • Did Shorter even play?
  • 8-0 sounds fantastic but...MSU, MSU, MSU. Their 2 conference losses were to OSU & Wisconsin. I expect them to be very tough on the road. IMO this is a gut check game for PSU coming after two physically tough games.
  • Once again PSU did not turn the ball over. I think that's fantastic given the number of underclassmen that handle the ball.

I think IU and RU are 2 that should be W's. @MSU, @Minn and @OSU is a tough way to close this year out. Hopefully they can stay up every week as we have seen 2 clearly more talented teams go down the last 2 weeks.

One concern for me was when UM started beating the D with the quick throws out to the edge. They were successful 3-4 times with those things. Same plays that Ohio St. used to beat us last year. Gotta believe that is going to be a big part of the playbook for Ryan Day in a few weeks. Need to tighten that up.

Yep....as someone else pointed out. If you line your LB's at the LOS or blitz all night...those plays will be there. There has to be some balance. Last night may have humbled that defense a bit.

I know I'm the exception, but I don't care about the playoffs. I'll be extremely happy with a 10 win season and good bowl game and excited that the Big10 East title could maybe hinge on 1 game.

Great post

LaJolla,
Agree with everything except MAYBE George and Shorter. Either they need to elevate their game OR RR needs to call some plays that feature them OR Clifford need to see them as he goes through progressions. At any rate they are just about invisible and that should change.
