Dake wins 4-2 and makes the World Team beating Dieringer in two straight. A very dejected Dieringer.

Kyle Dake and J'Den Cox, their style might not excite you but it wins.

We can say what we want about their style but a lot of our hammers run into those kind of wrestlers and struggle.

Dake’s d is unbelievable. Derringer has him dead to rights on that double blast, and Dake’s thighs are so strong, that he stoned the move instantly. Unbelievable

Watching the Ferrari family reaction, mainly momma, you know where AJ is headed. Could be wrong, but. And nothing wrong with looking at momma Ferrari either

This^^.
Dake with a 2 point lead is roughly equivalent to a 7 or 8 point lead for anyone else. He is just so difficult to score on.

quite surprised as I thought Ringer may win one of the matches He has really been wrestling well. Shows you how tough Dake is - smartest wrestler around?
On another note... what if they didn't replay that off the mat move... 5 seconds passed before anyone could have challenged...

That was the wrestling-equivalent of "mixing in a water".

Congrats to Dake, though. Got the job done, despite my cussing and screaming at my TV. He goes down and Ringer goes up next year, is my guess.

Just watched the replay (I watched without audio last time). Three miscelania to note, in order of importance:
  1. Cassar sighting at 22:30
  2. Line of the broadcast "Dake may have the most poked face in International Wrestling."
(you have to admit, he has an imminently pokable face).
  3. @ChristianPyles Lookin' all grown up in the sport coat--I'd say keep with it.

That move wont work either Alex

Can JB convert on KD?
I doubt it.

I didn't see the match, but if Mason Beckman said it was a snoozer, then it's pretty much undebatable IMO.

And, one just doesn't "go out and take it" against Kyle Dake. Love him or hate him, Dake just allow that to happen and it's been a very effective style for him (though often hard to watch).

I guess Willie thought maybe Ringer was wrestling against Willie's defense? You don't just "go take it" against someone that caliber-unless you want to get launched frequently. The self-proclaimed "best mind in wrestling" forgot to use it in that post.

No doubt—the struggle to gameplan Dake is real—end of the day though, you have to score somehow, and I’d take my best attack against Dake before I’d think I could counter him myself. Ringer is a juggernaut against almost everyone. Hope to see him vs. DT next year.

Several have commented on how boring Dake's style is. I agree that in college his style wasn't a lot of fun to watch. But in FS, it's not always the same. I agree that his style against Dieringer was very conservative--he did what he felt he should do to win against a VERY quality opponent. But, if you've seen him in other international matches he can be very aggressive including some very impressive throws. He showed a lot of offense at last year's world championships. He seems to figure out what he needs to do to win. And, he's doing a pretty good job of it! But, don't expect him to be always boring.

Agree, Dake had a strategy and implemented it to perfection. Those underhook positions would of resulted in big throws against a lot of guys but Dieringer was just too strong and athletic so he had to settle for push outs.

My thought as well. Sometimes the irresistible force meets the immovable object and it's nearly a stalemate.

I wonder if Dake seeing IMar use the underhook so effectively against the field (Nolf, JB...) at US Open, WTT, and Final X in KD's- I'm guessing- Olympic weight is what has him working on that style. If IMar can somewhat stifle JB with underhooks, then you'd think that Dake can be even more effective with it.
