You probably need to consider not typing for a while. You're entire diatribe seems to be a weird attempt at pissing everyone off.
ATownPoke is a good guy. He's entitled to his respectful opinion even if we all believe he is wrong. Cael had an "at will" contract with ISU. That works both ways. Nothing moral or immoral about it. A sudden change of heart can piss people off, but I don't think we should assign a code of conduct to a standard business transaction. Cael is not responsible for Bobby Douglas. Bobby Douglas is responsible for Bobby Douglas.

Because it’s the truth. Jamie Pollard and Douglas have both put it out there. Its in Douglas’ book

“The Ohio State job had come open and we couldn't risk losing Cael,' Pollard told Sesker. ' ...
Cael told me 'I'm either the head coach at Iowa State or I leave.' ' ISU didn't want to lose Sanderson as it lost Dan Gable to Iowa so many years earlier. Douglas was given the option to stay one more year, but didn't want to work under that cloud, knowing he wouldn't be coming back.”

Thats a direct quote from Pollard
Look, I don’t know enough about it but I’ve read plenty of autobiographies where the disgruntled made things up to look better so I’m not a believer based on this evidence.

I bought two of Lance Armstrong’s books, the Floyd Landis book and some political ones I’d rather not name which were all full of lies.

Are you insinuating that Lance was actually doping?!?

If my aging memory serves me correctly, I think I recall reading about a guy named Joseph who lived a very long time ago. His brothers thought they got rid of him for good only to later find out that he ended up doing very well in spite of his earlier circumstances. Does his story fit any of those that we are discussing?
ISU winning a Natty!!! 🤢

Well to be fair to you… there was definitely a typo in there that changes the tone. What I meant to type was… “These ARENT body shots to Cael and PSU”

The Lance Armstrong 30 for 30 is mindboggling. He's a complete POS.

DT is essentially saying he wouldn't have lost to Brooks if he actually prepared and wasn't so distracted so I guess some people feel the need to defend Brooks. Plus if DT hadn't lost to AB then it's likely he wouldn't even be coaching at OSU so it does have a little to do with AB. As for Zahid/DT/AB, I'm sure you know using the transitive property is kind of silly in sports since a huge part of it is matchups (see Haines/Carr/O'Toole).

Who knows who wins between DT and Brooks if they wrestle next year, maybe Taylor is actually focused this time around and things are different. But if DT has to wrestle at 10:30pm and then has to make weight at 8am the next morning while Brooks is fresh with a good night's sleep, my money is on Brooks.
I am not sure Zahid was mentally prepared. Maybe his fire was not lit.

Does anyone have a handle on the "full" story of the Wick situation? I never understood how a Cal Poly student wouldn't be academically eligible at Penn State. And Cael was ready to go, specifically to OK St? That's the first time I've seen that info. I know he wasn't happy and was considering leaving. I know Sandy Barbour is the villain in the story, but I still can't see the shape of the narrative.
Wick had not yet graduated from Wisconsin, and PSU did not offer his major.

His intended PSU College/Dept refused to transfer many of his Wisconsin credits. He apparently was not given any waiver option or any opportunity to demonstrate his subject matter knowledge. No comprehensive exam, no 3- or 6-credit independent research, etc.

He would've had to take an extra 3-4 semesters, with only 1 year of remaining athletic eligibility. And at PSU non-resident tuition rates.

So he went back home.

IIRC the Cael angle was: he was upset that Athletics just threw their hands in the air and made no attempt to call the dept to work something out. Wick was not a marginal student, he was an honors student from a conference school. If Wick were 60 lb heavier and ran a 4.4 40, Barbour would've tried to help (maybe, maybe not because Barbour).

Actually, I think it’s an interesting discussion. That doesn’t mean that I have to agree with everything that is posted.
Yes, wildly interesting. Cowboy fan throws shade at Cael and our camp circles wagons. If I’m following, Poke has Cael masterminding/foreseeing events that had him taking ISU job to oust a mentor, all while knowing the PSU HC was coming his way shortly. While a hard sell here, Poke is adamant and eager to make the case. What he paints as immoral or reproach, many see as normal, legal human behavior in support of self or family interest. Poke throws love our way, but can’t quite hide a tangible disdain for Cael (like me with AJ). Neither side will ever crossover, but still fun reading.
Sidebar: Poke WAY more interesting, reasonable, and welcome than Gollum's brother, the meddlesome mildturk. ;)

Message Boards in a nutshell, both sides defend their guys and the home court wins through numbers game.

ATown is a great guy but remember he's not a Penn State fan nor should we expect him to be. He's been very cordial here and he's going to defend his guy and he did it in a way that ruffled feathers here obviously. I motion we just change the subject when it clearly won't go anywhere.

I think opposing viewpoints are great always (as long as they can be reasoably discussed, which doesn't happen on certain boards I won't name) and I've been welcomed on his board, which I'll repeat is extremely tame long before DT's hiring.

***MODERATOR AGREES. This is a good time to lock this thread and start a new 2024-25 OK ST thread for news, discussions, etc. DT is officially at OK ST and is the new face of OK ST. With that topic behind us now, let's move on and take our discussions about the current organization and the upcoming season to a new thread.

A much better solution would be to turn it into a political or religious discussion. :) After about a page of that, no one will even remember anything from the previous thread. I have seen it happen. :)
