Does anyone now doubt that Pennsylvania is corrupt to the core?

Sure they should be held to a higher standard. But I do believe that personal life is personal life. I do believe that people making jokes about wife-beating are just that - jokes. They don't mean he cannot judge impartially (at least no more impartially than anyone else can judge). I suspect that no one can judge with absolute impartiality.

Did you call for Bill Clinton to resign because he took advantage of young, impressionable women and threw them to the curb?

I don't think that 91Joe95 should be disbarred from any job where he might have to judge a woman (in business, for promotions, etc.) just because he has what may be considered to be pornography in his avatar. Some may feel otherwise.

In any event, ALL the facts should be put out there, not just some facts. That's what I've done.

This has nothing to do with his personal life. Kane had emails that would expose Eakin. He knew this yet he still didn't recuse himself from the decision to suspend her license, which was a professional decision and not one involving his personal life.

This action alone, not even factoring in the offensive emails and how they eviserate Eakins ability to appear impartial, should be grounds for his removal from the bench. You simply cannot spin this any other way.

I'm not spinning it any way. I simply don't agree with you. Those e-mails do not constitute any grounds upon which I find his judgment impaired. I do note further that had he recused himself, it would have made no difference, since the decision was unanimous.

I agree with the report that was issued by a well respected Pittsburgh law firm (other than I don't find the e-mails any more offensive than I find 91Joe95's avatar).

I notice you did avoid the question about Bill Clinton.

Also, do you find 91Joe95's avatar demeaning and offensive?

I'm not sure what Bill Clinton has to do with Eakin. As for 91Jos95's avatar, is he a supreme court justice posting messages on state time with a state owned computer??

Nittpicker - remember, Judge Eakin never posted any message with a state owned computer on state time. Every piece of evidence indicates that Eakin received and sent these e-mails from his private e-mail account.

Bill Clinton and Judge Eakin are both accused of bad behavior toward women. Clinton conducted his lewd, demeaning acts in the white house on government time.

Eakin and 91Joe95 are causing demeaning images to be displayed on their own personal time with their own personal resources.

WTF does Clinton have anything to do with this discussion? It's a straw man. And yes, I was calling for Bill to resign not only because he should be held to a higher standard re: taking advantage of a young intern and cheating on his wife, but he tried to lie his way out of it once he got caught.

Like I said earlier, it doesn't matter if Eakin's judgement is impaired what matters is the appearance of his impartiality has been destroyed. Once that happens to a judge, he's done.

And that's besides the point, ignore the emails for a minute, what's even more unbecoming of a judge is him NOT recusing himself from a vote that he clearly had a conflict of interest in. You're trying to rationalize/minimize that by saying it wouldn't have mattered since it was unanimous (something that only hindsight could tell you) but how do you know, what if Eakin helped to sway the other judges opinions during their discussions/deliberations??? What DOES matter is Eakin didn't recuse himself when he should have, regardless of whether or not his recusal would have affected the final outcome or not (which he wouldn't have known at the time).

What DOES matter is Eakin's lack of ethics in not disclosing his COI which is conduct unbecoming of a judge.

It's beyond me how you could not agree that this is a MAJOR issue for a person that is supposed to be held to the HIGHEST of moral, professional, and ethical standards.

Eakin tried to sandbag Kane because she was exposing him and his porn dog buddies. It's reprehensible behavior for a freaking supreme court judge.

I'm sure you know it's possible to access a private email account from a work computer. I'm not saying Eakin did this but a check of email time stamps would obviously show if he was doing it on state time.

Nittpicker - yes I know it is possible. But no one is offering evidence he did that. Do you not think that if there was any evidence he did so that it would be alleged?

In fact, I think it would be alleged UNLESS it was known that Judge Eakin could demonstrate that such an allegation was factually untrue.

One more thing here Nittpicker - they do not have Eakin's emails. They have emails from a guy by the name of Baxter, as both Baxter and Eakin are in the address line. Baxter's address is on an OAG account, so they could retrieve the e-mail.

What they cannot tell is when and/or if the e-mail was opened by Eakin. Note: Most of the e-mails in question were received by Eakin and not sent by Eakin. Eakin did send 157 out of a total of 1000 or so emails in question. He's only the recipient on the other 850 or so.

For the e-mails that Eakin sent (which are far less damning, I might add), they could check the timestamp. I guess we know what it must show, or it would be ALL over the news reports.

A person who shares wife-beating jokes is a misogynist and therefore cannot objectively rule on any case involving any women.
That makes him unfit to serve as a judge.

Clinton's a horndog but I don't think he's a misogynist. At least I've never seen anything that makes him appear to be one. I think that he actually likes women. A lot.

He took advantage of a young girl, 30 years younger than he was. She was an intern, and he was the most powerful man on the planet.

At what company would this be tolerated? None.

I. Am. Outraged.

"You still getting your pension?" LOL...

Don't know anything about the "Cash for Kids" scandal, but corrupt public officials, particularly judges, disgust me. Hope a fellow inmate adopts Ciavarella as his "girlfriend.".

Well, there you have it. NOW says we must do it, so it must be the right thing to do.

Those NOW women are angry because they are so unattractive.

The really sad part is that now he will try to say that this last statement is just another funny joke. Unfortunately it seems that is really what he thinks. My best guess is that what he wanted to say (using the full stereotype of a woman from NOW) would get him banned and blowhards need an audience.

She tried taking a short cut and sleeping her way to the top (well i guess it wasn't actually "sleeping" ) by taking advantage of the political vulnerability of his position.;)

No, I'm not joking. Most women in NOW are unattractive, although for me to say so is perhaps somewhat of a cheap shot. And they were notably silent on the Clinton/Lewinsky affair.

As regards your comment 10 years after - NOW spent a lifetime decrying "the power of men" vs. the relative lack of power of women. Such a disparity in power has never been more exemplified than the "affair" between Bill Clinton, President of the United States of America, and Monica Lewinsky, slightly chubby 19 year old intern.

Just google 'PA cash for kids'. You're jaw will hit the floor on the corruption that went on.

Edit- Here's the wiki link about the case. Long story short- guy who runs 2 juvenile centers pays 2 Wilkes Barre judges $2.6 million to contract with his facilities and sentence lots of kids for extended stays at his Juvy centers instead of the county facility (for such things as stealing DVDs, insulting their principal on MySpace, and trespassing in a vacant building per wiki). Apparently this was done over 7 years (2000- 2007) and convictions included racketeering and tax fraud charges. Judges are sentenced to 28 and 17 years in Federal prison. Several hundred Juvy cases overturned.

Both of my beautiful daughters are members of NOW. Lots of their attractive girl friends are also members too. What's your point?

You are talking about the young woman who told her friends she was on her way to Washington with her "Presidential Kneepads," right? You CAN look it up.

LOL. If nothing else, I sure wish you RWNJs would quit being such shlubs.

Pro - BOT? You must be joking? I'm completely anti-BOT. Those guys had a chance to LEAD and they did nothing but the sort. Read my earlier post:

"PSUNormal, those people were entrusted with a position of leadership. Leadership USED to mean that you treated people right, even when it was personally dangerous to do so.

But the BOT did what was easy and safe. Today, leadership seems to mean "I'm the boss, I'm protecting myself, hope it works out for everyone else. Now follow me." Is it a surprise to see that today we have virtually no leaders? Who is this generation's JoePa, this generation's Woody Hayes? Absolutely nowhere to be seen.

A person in a position of authority and/or high standing should be held to a higher level. Presumably they were better than everyone else who sought the job.

I have all the sympathy for the average guy who finds himself over his head. I have zero sympathy for guys who should be leaders, but want to be kings."
Woody Hayes?

Or maybe unlike you, NOW can see how a consenting adult woman engaging in private sex acts is different than court officials swapping images whose sole purpose is to demean women. That's not to imply I'm for or against Clinton (or NOW) but the comparison of the events isn't even close.

That post was just stupid. Also, I'm getting the sense that you don't like women very much, other than for your use.

Clinton was credibly accused of rape and a serial adulterer. Hillary's role was to attack his victims.
