Sure they should be held to a higher standard. But I do believe that personal life is personal life. I do believe that people making jokes about wife-beating are just that - jokes. They don't mean he cannot judge impartially (at least no more impartially than anyone else can judge). I suspect that no one can judge with absolute impartiality.
Did you call for Bill Clinton to resign because he took advantage of young, impressionable women and threw them to the curb?
I don't think that 91Joe95 should be disbarred from any job where he might have to judge a woman (in business, for promotions, etc.) just because he has what may be considered to be pornography in his avatar. Some may feel otherwise.
In any event, ALL the facts should be put out there, not just some facts. That's what I've done.
This has nothing to do with his personal life. Kane had emails that would expose Eakin. He knew this yet he still didn't recuse himself from the decision to suspend her license, which was a professional decision and not one involving his personal life.
This action alone, not even factoring in the offensive emails and how they eviserate Eakins ability to appear impartial, should be grounds for his removal from the bench. You simply cannot spin this any other way.
