Don't shoot the messenger.

Im trying to envision these Jersey posters yelling at their screens with their heavy accents, fake tans and slicked back hair.. I better not say to much or some guy named Paulie is going to pay me a visit with a bat in one hand and a hoagie sandy in the other. ;)

You need to visit the beautiful Colonial-era hamlets of NW New Jersey. It would give you a better appreciation of the state

Just thinking about New Jersey makes me cringe. Not sure how anyone could ever get homesick from there.

I live right across the river from the greatest city in the world. You live right across the street from...corn. I'm a relatively short car ride from the shore. You're a long plane ride from anything that isn't locked. Yeah, NJ is cringeworthy when compared to the nonstop action that is Iowa.

You forgot the sauce-stained wifebeaters, lol.

I kid, I kid . . . stereotypes are meant to be fun. Oops, f*n.

Greatest city in the world? Pump the brakes

At least as many of those guys in Columbus.

You have no clue where i live Vinny. You have to swim past a bunch of dead bodies to get to that city. Just a short ride in the trunk of a Cadillac to get to that shore.. lmao.

Btw, Cringeworthy was excellent word usage. Nicely done.

Given how many PSU alums live in and/or grew up in rural parts of the state, not to mention PSU's location, you might reconsider.

New York? You have no clue where i live Vinny.

You literally could not be more off with me on the Vinny front. Truth be told, I could count on one hand how many people I know who fit those stereotypes of NJ. 99% of this country knows the NJ Hollywood has fed them. It's very inaccurate and gets tired.

I lived for 4 years in PA for school. But you couldn't pay me enough to live there for one second longer. To each his own, but I love having all of the things about NJ that you aren't aware of right here.

Just curious. Is it Philadelphia or Pittsburgh that you have above NYC?

And Iowa just has corn right? What stereotypes have you been fed by hollywood? Im just some lunatic macaroni mushroom, is that it?

You got me wrong, I like Jersey, I only disagreed with the statement that NYC is the greatest in the world. I'm not the guy saying that other stuff, go back and read

I know. Posting on the cell and think it got the quoting wrong. Greatest in the world in your opinion is then?

Better not say too much, not better not say to much ;)

I've been reading thru this thread looking for RUCreedo lurking under another name. You may remember him....of cruise liner fame. He was legendary for his inability to properly use the words to/too/two.

Must say though, I'm getting a good chuckle reading folks defending NJ. I grew up in eastern PA, and have spent quite a bit of time disparaging NJ myself. My favorite is the bridges leaving NJ into NY/PA require you to pay when leaving NJ but it's free when coming back into NJ. :)

Didn't say that was all Iowa had. But Iowa produces corn and is land locked. Not stereotypes and I wasn't personally insulting its people like you were.

Look, you're trying to get a rise and I obliged. It's just that it gets really old and tired. Most of this country's tomatoes and blueberries come from NJ. But most people think all it leads in producing is toxic waste. Strikes a nerve with some of us to continually hear falsehoods, that's all.

New Jersey is 8th in tomato production, far out paced by california and florida, and is 5th in blueberry production. While this is substantial it is far from the most of the country. However, I agree that the combination of rural and urban settings with proximity to two of the best cities in the country (NYC, Philly) make NJ a great place.

I'm waiting for someone from PSU to dispute this false and lame stereotype and acknowledge that Iowa isn't just cornfields....... They also have really nice baseball fields among those cornfields ;)

If you build it, they will come :)

Newflash..... you're arrogance is showing in this post. I came in peace and you had to go there. I didn't claim this rumor was true, only reported what I heard. Why the snark?

First, kids are kids there could be 100 reasons why he wants to transfer and come home, and Wrestlers that are his kinda good can win National Championships anywhere practicing in any room. This isn't football.

Second, He has not used his redshirt and if he came to Rutgers,or any school in the Big Ten for that matter, he could use his redshirt in his conference transfer sit out year instead of losing a competitve year and lose zero eligibility.

And yes Rutgers is a lesser program to Mighty Penn state, but lets not make pretend that Rutgers isnt a top 10 quality program in the country that is on the rise. This isnt Monmouth or Cal Poly he would potentially be transferring to. A move to Rutgers, or any Big Ten School, provides him the same path against the same competition that Penn State would.

I don't know why you are upset. Is it because I called Rutgers a lesser program than Penn State? Is that arrogance or just an accurate assessment of the relative strengths of the program? And you agree with the assessment.

The huge question remains - why would Nick give up a year of eligibility to wrestle at what is, by your own admission, a lesser program?

And others have pointed out the other obvious problem. If he wants to reach his full potential, he will go where he gets the best competition in the room and the best coaching. If you don't think the competition in the room doesn't help development, I don't know what to say to you. Anecdotally, I wrestled in a high school room primarily against my coach, who was a PSAC winner, a 185 pounder who gave a PA state champ a tough match and a two time placewinner as a PA Hwt. If you don't think I got a lot better as a wrestler because of that, again, I don't know what to say to you.

Really, Rutgers makes less sense than Iowa or Ohio State as a transfer destination within B1G (better programs with better rooms and coaching) except for the claim about homesickness, which seems kind of spurious in its own right. Others have pointed out that State College is about 3.5 hours from Bergen County. Hell, Rutgers is close to an hour from Paramus depending on traffic. He's a young man, a little extra driving isn't going to bother him that much.

So, yeah, your "First" is dead wrong. Historical data argues against you. Kids have the best chance of winning championships, which I am pretty sure is Nick's goal, at better programs. Your "Second" is factually incorrect. Finally, yes, Rutgers has improved a lot since they joined the Big Ten, but they are a long way from the level of PSU, Iowa, OSU and tOSU at present.

Your're from New Jersey.. We would be surprised if it didnt strike a nerve. And yes Iowa has corn. Is that the extent of your knowledge of Iowa? I live right on the Mississippi River. I wake up every morning to a great view of Modern Woodman baseball Park and the Old man that flows all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. No corn in sight here

Yea, I know but bit it is still really easy and pretty funny to make Jersey jokes ;)

Sounds really nice....did the town elders get all fired up when they cut down the cornfields to build that baseball stadium ???

Just kidding, please don't get mad. :)

Well I'll keep refreshing until this is hammered out, but I'm a tad concerned that this corn vs mobsters digression is sapping our collective brainpower.

On NJ. It gets a bad rap. I've lived here for 31 years after growing up and going to college in PA and I like it (except for the traffic and the cost of living). Spent 28 years living in the mountains on the edge of a 2000 acre preserve with tons of wildlife while having a 30 trip into NYC and being withing an hour of the shore. I was also relatively close to DC, Philly and Boston.

Now I live here:

Which might convince you the stereotypes aren't completely true. :)

Well this has been fun, but I'm off to watch Yankees Old Timers' Day. Just another perk of living here, getting to watch the greatest franchise in sports history! :)

As for Suriano, I certainly hope this is all just smoke. But certainly not liking that it's growing legs.

More thread drift:

I miss the old Yankee Stadium with $2.50 general admission as late as 1981. Can't bring myself to go to the new one after all the seat license fees, etc. It's not that long ago (ok, maybe it is a long time ago) you could hop on the subway for $.50, pack some food and beverage and catch a game for $3.50 a person for the day. That probably wouldn't even get you a bag of peanuts today.

Suriano? I hope for his sake the rumor is baseless and I think it makes very little more than zero sense, maybe even less than zero I'd hate to see him get only two more full years of wrestling after the way last year ended with the injury.

For what it's worth, but people on our wrestling board have stated that Nick was confirmed to be at SKWC (Scarlet Knights Wrestling Club) practice rolling around with Frankie Edgar who stopped by to train a bit. The person climbing this is generally in the know.

Whether this adds fuel to this fire, who knows. Whatever the Truth, there are certainly smoke signals coming from Piscataway.
Based upon this it is quite apparent that Kyle Snyder will soon be a Nittany Lion. I mean based upon the knowledge Kyle has been in the Penn State wrestling room numerous times wrestling with Cael, Jake, Gwiz and Nick.
