Don't shoot the messenger.

You have to come to a real place first, which was kindof the point. But hey you've got a view of the Mississippi River.
Well, when i went to Paris and Thailand i didn't have any trouble getting there from my unreal location. Chicago and St Louis are only a couple episodes of Game of Thrones away from me ya know. And yes always live in a place with a view! Life is to short to stare at a brick wall or parking lot out your window.

I grew up in central nowhere, I get it. Good for you for living where you do, but there are far better cultural and career and educational opportunities in the metro areas than not for a reason. Tourists and students and professionals flock to these areas (like, say, New York) for a reason. I've been where you are, you apparently haven't been where I am. Whatever.

For every person out there dying to live in NY there is probably another ready to get out. To each their own. Congrats on living where you do aswell. Im glad its not near me! Have a good rest of your Sunday at your current cultured metro location. Cheers!

It's funny how you started with the tired, untrue stereotypes and now you're on the defensive, in addition to thinking I "stare at a parking lot". At least have some experience with the things you bitch about.

I lived in San Diego for 30 years and there is no way I would have considered trading that experience to live in the "greatest city in the world.". San Diego makes living on the East coast look like a sentence to a gulag.

Been to San Diego on business twice; fantastic city. Stayed across the bay on Coronado Island one of the times, absolutely beautiful. The only negative I saw was the number of homeless in the downtown area. Seems like one at every corner.

If I was homeless(and had my wits about me), I'd make a Herculean effort to get myself to a place like SD. I see them in cold NE cities and wonder what it would take to get a bus/hop a train and get somewhere warm.

I used to think every person who likes to smoke drugs and/or does not have a home ended up in ocean beach (san diego neghborhood ). When you live there, it sure seems like it.

You have to get out more. In NJ, they are subs. In eastern PA, definitely hoagies. New England, I think, and verified by this link, calls them grinders.

Btw, if you go to the PSU/Rutgers match, my vote for the best sub in North NJ is the Tastee Sub Shop in Edison about 10 minutes from the RAC. Definitely my prematch stop. #5 with hot peppers is the choice.

Will have to try them out this year...as for favorite NJ sub eateries...Voltaco's in OC cannot be beat.... http://voltacositalianfoods.com/subs-sandwiches.htm Specifically, the Hot Roast Pork with provolone, spinach and roasted red pepper.....

My daughter is moving to Manhattan next Saturday because of work. A bit apprehensive. Think I would feel better from a safety point of view if she were moving to Iowa.....or maybe Iran? o_O

the NY subways are like Disneyland compared to 30 years ago. Not much to worry about in Manhattan anymore.

Manhattan is one of the safest large cities there is. I've been here since 1990 and it's only gotten safer over that time, not coincidentally as it progressively got less affordable. Only reasonable fear, Gebmo, is that your daughter becomes a Rangers fan.

How unsafe could Manhattan, Kansas possibly be?

Ohhhh...you mean the portion of New York City that is also known as New York County. Now it all makes sense!

P.S. To those Iowa interlopers who happen to be viewing this board, tell your former associate AD to start a Division I wrestling in Manhattan, Kansas.

Or has to live in New Jersey because NYC is too expensive.

(Or, worse yet: Connecticut.)

The thing that concerns me most is no one has stepped up to dispel the rumor whether it be Cael or Suriano himself. My gut is telling me its truth. I feel like bitch slapping myself for even saying it...

Cael didn't interrupt his weekend to address a cruiseship rumor? How dare he!
I see what your saying but still seems strange to me that someone as great as Nick, a possible favorite to win a title this year is rumored to not be happy at PSU and no one cares to dispel that? This to me is a different kind of "cruise ship" rumor. This named Nick directly.... not a few names being thrown around or fans speculating who it may be.

Was going to mention that as well, but to be fair Gullibon was not the same level of recruit as Ashnault.

Gulibon was the same level recruit of Ashnault. Jimmy was as blue chip as you get. He was 4X PIAA champ. He did not have as good as a career as Ashnault at the college level but that doesn't change the fact that he was the #3 overall recruit in his class.

How many times did Cael respond to Morgan's supposed homesickness?

Regardless: it's still just a rumor. Any idiot can start one, and just because one did doesn't mean Cael has to respond.

I do not recall Cael ever addressing rumors. Not Nick is homesick for California, nor Vincenzo going to Rutgers or any other. The last time he was asked a question that specifically had to do with message board chatter CP peed himself making a plan.

Yeah like I said I see what you're saying. Everyone is different though. I know if I were Nick I'd be like McFadden and shoot the bullsh*t down quickly like he did....especially if some of the rumors are my not being happy with the staff and the room.

He may not even know about it. Or care.

Let's face it, a lot of board content is noise. That's precisely why the coaches advise the wrestlers and their families to stay away.

Nick is hardly ever on Twitter, which is a fantastic start.

More than likely he has heard the rumors and if he chooses to not comment that's fine. Commonplace really. If he chooses to leave, oh well.

The message for me has been "truly, the best things in life are free"

More thread drift: I think Less than Zero was a really underrated 80's movie.

Don't you dare hijack this thread with logic, it's just getting good... o_O

So where is home for you, RMLion?

Exactly, PSU gets several of these rumors a year. If someone from the PSU side officially responds then that means that have to respond to every rumor, if not people will say not responding is confirming the rumor.

Thanks again. I guess I do tend to remember "the old days" when it comes to NYC. I appreciate the info. I do think I'm safer with her turning on the Flyers (though my Pastor is a Rangers fan from NY and has been recruiting), but she is already talking about the Knicks, why I have no idea.....

I just spent 4 days in Manhattan for work.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Enjoyed the restaurants & the culture.
Enjoyed the after-work atmosphere of pubs & rooftop bars.
Felt very safe the entire time.
Fell in love at least 400x - so many beautiful women in Manhattan.

That said, NYC to me is like Las Vegas :

I was very excited to arrive and 4 days later, I was very excited to leave.

Fun to visit -- could never live there.

From my Bloomsburg days in the 1980s . I can remember eating more than one grinder at Barrigans at 1am . I think they were called a sub if you didn't heat it.
Remember that place well. Sal's was my favorite. Sub, hoagie, was interchangeable in the area. Toasted was a cosmo.

But at Penn State, Gulibon remains the exception rather than the rule. That's the difference.

Awhile back my dogs came home scratched up and when asked what happened they didn't say squat. So after a little doctoring I loaded them in the ranger to go have a look-see. The chow-pit mix was sitting next to me with his front paws up on the dash as we cruised the property and all the sudden as we approached the orchard they started barking at something on the right side by the fence-line. With them raising cain it was difficult keeping my eyes on the path. That is when I noticed a huge chewed up raccoon on my left. Hey, at least I stayed on topic and onboard.

Out of the top 10 in Gulibon's class, he had he 2nd best college wrestling career. Tsirtis was #1 in that class. Maybe the 2012 class just wasn't very good.
