If the "victim" waited for everyone allegedly involved to pass away before telling his story... that should tell you something.

It's not uncommon for victims to wait.

It's also not uncommon for people committing fraud to wait for the right time. Considering how flimsy their stories are... I think it's pretty obvious which of the two they are.
