It is exciting that our team/school is going to get additional exposure because of the GameDay broadcast originating from PS this Saturday.
Having worked closely with media types in my career, recognize they will arrive in State College with a game plan of what the messaging will be. They are in control and I suspect are well aware they are coming to Penn State and will not be received positively by many given the events that unfolded in 2011 and view ESPN to be anything but objective in their reporting.
As much as anyone I would love someone articulate how unfairly we believe Joe was treated. If that messaging has any shot it will take very clever planning and some interest on ESPN’s part that they want that story to be told. I hope I am wrong and ESPN comes with the idea of including interviews with Joe’s supporters. But I think it has to come from new voices...Jay, Franco, Labranno, former players all were strong voices but many never listened to what they offered. Maybe they send their reporters to the motor home tailgates where long term PS fans would be eager to comment? But, unfortunately that is not the story they want to hear.
Any ideas out there?
