I've noticed that the outcry about Duals deciding the NCAA Champion from Gopher fans (not including grappler6, don't worry) has kind of died off in their down year. It's almost as if they had ulterior motives besides "what's best for the sport of wrestling"...

Tonight at 9pm EST (on BTN) will be my annual ritual of forgetting Im a PSU fan for a two hours and rooting for the black and gold. I very much look forward to seeing a blowout of epic proportions!!

CD: You couldnt be more right on this point. thank goodness they have all of those Championship shirts leftover to cry on.

tidbit: PSU has a winning record against almost all teams. They even started out with a 5-0 record against Minny since their first meeting in 1986. As you all know the tide quickly turned and Penn State hasn't beaten the Gophers since Feb 6, 1998. Other teams with losing records to:
Illinois......... 6-9 began 1956
Iowa........... 8-26-2 began 1982
Iowa State. 10-13-1 began 1921
Okie State.. 6-12-1 began 1982
That streak would be over if they wrestled this year....it will have to wait to be broken until next year so you can enjoy the next 12 months or so of being able to use that argument although I'm not sure there is much to enjoy about Minnesota wrestling these days. Maybe Mark Hall will be in the lineup next year just to rub salt in the wound? That would be extra special.

My POV has shifted regarding a dual championship. I like the current model and nationals are a great time. I wish duals could be incorporated, but not to replace ind tournament. A hybrid model could work, but the point totals that were assigned were too many. I don't see a compromise coming. Their current national duals BCS type model with Big Ten and non Big Ten teams could develop into a nice end of the year event and it puts more weight on dual results. I just have strong belief in the energy and excitement from within a dual. Highlighting that is important.

Am I reading this correctly?
This All-Star line-up of the past 50 years only produced 4 individual titles thru the first 8 weight classes?? At least the guys at 197/Hwt were able to double that total & give the entire team a whopping 8.

That was one heck of a deep team. I believe D. Ness would have won a title without the injuries which really slowed him down his last couple of years. He was a joy to watch compete.

I'll play, my relatives came over on the Mayflower, BFD, what does that do for me today? in this ADHD world, it's all about "what have you done lately?"
Let's change the parameters of your search?
In the 21st Century, how many National Titles by Minny?
How many National and B1G Champions?
How many Coach of the Year Awards?
How many National Championship T-shirts did you buy in 2014 and how many do you have left?

I give it to Minny, they have had our number in Duals, but when the $$ and big boys put it on the line, PSU all the way baby!

Thanks for playing!

I cut it off at 1964 because I wanted wrestlers that I and others had actually seen. Otherwise you get Vern Gagne at hvy.

Here's a chart of school colors. Byers please take note.

kr did this on other sites (rest, in peace), then CD started it again on Guillotine. Not a bad idea...Tom??

Don't know which Tom you're referring to, Roar, but I do miss TWT and I liked KR's All Things PSU there--certainly generated a lot of discussion with the Iowa fans!

Keeper of the Flame pt 2. The Gophers needed to win two finalist matches for the team title. Eggum loses to Cael Sanderson, Hartung beat Lee Fullhart, but Brock Lesner loses to Stephen Neal.
Hartung "Those little pricks from Iowa. Doug Schwab walks by me with the trophy held high and I just wanted to snap his neck."

Maybe instead of breaking the little guy's neck, he should have defeated the big guy he wrestled. Just saying.

Meh.. Minnysoda is like little brother isu to me. Not worth talking about since they are no longer relevant. Also I am no longer a fat shamer. I have learned to enjoy a slightly warmed up Stollhouse chocolate chip cookie with my butterbean ice cream now. I have actually gained 15 pounds in 6 weeks. My wife looks at me like I'm a slice of lemon pie. She is Grossed out! Time to start "training angry" for swimsuit season

I noticed Minnysota got a mention in CP and Willies podcast this morning. I think it was CP that said "Wrestling Minny isn't as Sexy as going to Penn State or Carver". Gave me a little smile

that is a good one... nice current fashionable singlet! I don't want to go there... but I will... wonder what this kid is posing for?

Diceman, I'm surprised that you didn't pick the orange zip-up leather "Borat" singlet next to it. Taste and decorum prevent me from linking to it.

Jammenz, on a more gold and some dark red color note, I've really enjoyed Keeper of the Flame thus far. As a younger fan of wrestling it gives some real insight into a period of wrestling I didn't follow too closely.

Yeah, there were a couple of other one on the google search also that came up that I laughed out loud, but didn't link because of "taste and decorum."

It's a tough view for the search for "singlet with an orange on it." Obviously there are parties out there that view the singlet as something more than just for wrestling, lol.

"Taste and decorum"...I'm marinating in that comment.

The only thing that Cael has done that I like is to give the old guys seats front and center.
