2016-17 Gopher outlook: Fluid at 133, 149, 157, and 165.

125) Ethan Lizak (rso) coming off a 17-4 red shirt season. Beat AA Schram, lost to Lambert, Petry, Klimera, and Moisey. The 4 point NF could come in very handy for Lizak with his top work tilts. There is a chance he could wind up at 133 with his long frame He ended the season at 133 for the Dukawk open.
133) I think frosh Mitch McKee is D1 ready, but if he red shirts then it gets ugly. Brancale 15-18, Morgan 4-4, or one of the 125's is a possibility.
141) Tommy Thorn (rso) 36-11. He beat AA's Meredith and Cruz during the season. Lost to Jordan and Jack at NCAA's.
149) Jake Short (rjr) 16-11 or Fredy Stroker (rfr) 25-4, lost to J. Arthur, Kemerer, Cimato, & Collica.
157) Brandon Kingsley (rsr) 20-13 or Jake Short. Kingsley beat Marsteller, Welch, & Mascola, but had lots of close losses.
165) Larry Early (rfr) 10-4 or Brandon Krone (rso) 11-13 . Up and down year with lots of injuries. Best win Burke Paddock.
174) Nick Wanzek (rjr) 21-13. Similar to Kingsley's year, beat Riddick, Brunson, & Weatherspoon with a lot of bad losses.
184) Bobby Steveson (rfr) 14-4, will be step up from a very game C Pfarr (rjr) 9-21.
197) Brett Pfarr (rsr) 40-4, AA, lost to Smack, Burak, Cox 2x.
hvy) Michael Kroells (rsr) 35-9, 2xAA

If guys like Kingsley and Wanzek can take the next step, this has the makings to be a nice lineup. You see flashes from those guys, but just too inconsistent. No idea what happened to Brancale, at one time I thought he was a guy who was going to be an AA. Lizak will be a tough, Thorn is tough, whoever comes out at 149 will be good, 197/285 are hammers.

yeah, I'd pick 4 solid AA's out of that lineup with a decent chance for five. Don't necessarily see a can't miss finalist, but the potential exists.

You sure early is going 165 I'd think he'd be at 157 for the gophers

What's your gut feeling at 149?

Stroker, Short, Kingsley, and Early fighting for just 3 spots. Probably all will see starts at various weights with the only certainty is Stroker stays at 149.

tidbit:
The B1G Coach of the Year has been won 6 times by Penn State. Fritz, Sunderland, Cael 4x. JRob has won it 8 times, single-handedly tied for most wins with Iowa's coaches.
B1G titles won: Cael 4, JRob 6.
Living in the past once again !!!

I expect Nevills to get healthy, live in the weight room, and fly right past Kroells this off season. I also expect Freddy Stroker to be better than most give him credit for, but that won't change his fortune against ZR. Lizak, Thorn, Stroker,Pfarr, and Kroells could all AA next year and return MN to a top 10 team.

Did you jump ship?

It's more like a rubber dinghy at this point. Jammenz claims double citizenship between Manny and Nebby. Not sure either one claims him.

Thorn also beat Ashnault this season.

Solid lineup but lots of talent coming back for other teams as well. Should be an exciting season.

Takes a real big man to call a college kid names anonymously from behind a keyboard. Then again, worms can jump over the bar Jammen sets.

"The Dardanes brothers are part of the ugliest secretary pool ever formed." Are you joining the club, jeffy?

No, I didn't deliberately butcher their name into a slur.

Not even a good try.

Hope springs eternal. UN won't keep it that close.

By the by, Zain pins poor Justin Arthur.

To be fair, those boys are not in college anymore ;)

Perhaps you and jeffy could get together and post a sticky of your ground rules.

For example, when you said:
Storley - Mike Evans's bitch
Nick Dardanes - choking dwarf
Schiller - Q Wright's Rag Doll
Ness - junk move merchant
Chris Dardanes - choking dwarf #2

that was fine because it falls under Rule #1: They're out of college. Rule #2: Don't make fun of a name, just the person. Feel free to list all your other rules. I'm guessing that they forbid making fun of a Penn State wrestler/coach.

The last one should be obvious on a PSU message board to anyone with a brain.

My college reference was aimed at Jefe's original admonition and how his Dardanes comment didn't fit at this juncture.

As for my screed, that was a targeted reaction to your endless rants about Penn State wrestlers you decide merit your scorn. Rather than limit your comments to home boards, you broadcast them across as many wrestling platforms as you can. Jimmy Gulibon over ranked? Cue Jammen's digs on Twitter feeds and every national wrestling message board out there. It's pretty pathetic and is noticed beyond our little Penn State homer universe.

Here was my actual post (note the lead-in you failed to include):

Since you love cheap shots against athletes (e.g. Gulibon, Altons) here I go:

Storley - Mike Evans's bitch
Nick Dardanes - choking dwarf
Schiller - Q Wright's Rag Doll
Ness - junk move merchant
Chris Dardanes - choking dwarf #2

If you don't like it thrown back at you, maybe some soul-searching is in order. Don't forget when I called JRob a crotchety has-been. We know all about the blow-back that can occur when one's coach is holding on to power with all he has - we learned that in spades.

Alright, back to wrestling talk now...
Nice seeing what MN lineup might look like next year. And how our team might matchup against. It's slow season....let's keep it interesting!

Quite possible and I believe an accomplishment very deserving it's very own t shirt.

They will definitely be better with Early, Stroker and Stevenson coming off of Redshirt. Not to mention they will have(Seniors I believe) Kroels at HWT and Bret Pfar at 197 who is a stud, And some Legit underclassmen in Thorn and an improved Jake Short. They will not be pushovers

My Guess, not researched so I could be off

125- Lizak
133- Brancale
141-Thorn
149- Stroker/Short
157- Stroker/ Short
165- Early
174- Wanzek
184-Stephenson
197-Pfarr
HWT- Kroels

If the young guys are Legit after a year of development in the room this will be a competitive lineup in my opinion.
