Failed to follow the suggestion of others.

Those 2 stoppages where the worst officiating blunders I’ve ever seen. Dead serious. Cowbell was right. Neither was remotely close to potentially dangerous

The next time they meet....I wonder if Desanto will leave his legs back in the locker room and maybe even his head.

And if he does.....will Iowa fans consider it to be stalling?

Just watched Tom Brands post match interview and said he thought DeSanto wasn't sure how to deal with an injury during match and basically got himself all worked up emotionally and couldn't get himself control of it. He finished by saying he thought he could've handled it better and finished the match. Now that is interesting.

I dont know. You commented on the ice. Was curious what you thought about the rest of his post.

I'm like you....I don't think much of what Iowa fans have to say either. If he was jumping around I'd like to see it as well..
I know I had a pulled hammy so bad last year I couldnt walk. My buddy has his doctorate in athletic performance (something like that). He had me trying to push myself and do as much as possible and I was back sprinting within a week. The idea of RICE is no longer accepted by those in the know.

Again i just watched it 2 more times. He clearly wasn’t hurt. Anyone with an ounce of honesty can see it. And brands does as well

Rewatching it now

Desanto hobbles back to center in the first ... Then explodes up on the whistle
Not to mention he tries kicking away from RBY. Does several stand-ups. Gets in pretty deep on a takedown attempt. Gets rag dolled by RBY for a while. Defaults as he is getting ready to count lights again. I would think the cradle might be the least stressful on the knee of all those activities. Then walks away. I didn't catch it, but some on here mentioned seeing him bouncing around later in the match.

I have to give him the benefit of the doubt because I've no real way of knowing and neither does anyone else.

But I will say that I've seen him in the past react in a way that resulted in a fast stoppage while the ref made sure a tourniquet wasn't required, only to see him shake it off a few minutes later, no worse for the wear. So the skepticism was kind of inevitable, especially given how both stoppages came as he was about to go over locked in a cradle. You earn whatever benefit of the doubt that you ultimately receive.

That said, I have a hard time imaging he'd default out of this match to save face or whatever, if he wasn't genuinely injured. He's a real nice kid, I've met him briefly, and I hope it's not serious or long term.

PSU got 6 from that match. What more do you want?

He was actually waking back to center fine, then caught himself and started to limp

Hey thanks
So you are done whining then? Hope so. PSU has bigger concerns than whether or not Desanto was as hurt as he says he is. Even after getting a gift of 6 at 133, they still lost. Maybe all those other matches should be what you are whining about.

Psu has no concerns. We may win this year or we may not ... but we will be kicking the shit out of Iowa for the next 3-4-5-6 years

....and any year you dont, you will be the first to whine and bring up ifs and buts. No doubt. Champion wrestlers with fans that are champion complainers hahaha.

Nope ... douce bag. I have t said one word about the result of the meet. Iowa won and congrats to them but spare me the Desanto bullshit. If a psu wrestler pulled what he did tonight I’d be embarrassed....

I didnt give you Desanto BS. I told you exactly what you wanted to hear and you still aint happy.

Your team just lost. You are whining on forums about Desanto and a match you got the maximum points in. Excuse me for not thinking you were happy.
I’m actually annoyed with the officiating. Which has been a 2 decade fight. And it’s an issue with growing the sport

A lot of the Iowa fan bitterness on this board. They were promised a blowout tonight and it didn’t happen. A battered Psu team went into CHA, battled, and rattled nerves in Iowa. Nice work, good guys.
Not many Iowa fans were predicting blowouts. Go look at HR. Fact is there was an unexpected 10 point swing at 133. However, I still feel good about 25, 33, 49, 57, 65, 74, 97, and hvy going forward and maybe we can come around at 84.

Um, no, not going over to that dumpster fire. Sure, HR has a lot of level headed postings. BTW, when does Teasdale step in for Deinjured to win the 133 lb championship?

Rumor is that de Satan is going to return to his go-to takedown in his next match with RBY:The Kimura

Lol spoken like someone that just started watching wrestling in 2010. He didn't call PD, he called injury time. Because Desanto was injured. If he was just faking an injury to get out of the cradle he wouldn't have defaulted out.

Cael made sure of that by forfeiting to Zahid. Then he pulls the shirt. Typical, like forfeiting to Myles Martin in the Big 10 Finals.

Austin had another mental breakdown IMO. He initially might have thought he was injured - could have felt a pop or something, we'll never know - but then he broke mentally. Listen to Tom Brands @3:45: "Hey, they said you're fine. You're fine, son, you're fine." And Gibbons observed what everybody else watching the bout observed: "Well, it's bothering him on the way back to the center of the mat (after stoppages). I think he's wrestling pretty hard in the bottom position.".

I predict Austin will be back competing in a week or so. And I hope he is because I hate to see young men get legitimately injured in this sport.

I think it's clear Desanto was hurt to one extent or another, but he also looked like he was hyperventilating when he took down on the injury restart, so I think there was some truth that he was having a hard time dealing with with the adversity and his emotions were getting the better of him. Carver can be a double edged sword and put a lot of pressure on their guys to perform, especially an emotional guy like Austin.

Right now my only gripe is with the Ref for not even giving a single takedown on two cradles. I just can't wrap my head around that; what would of happened if the match continued, would he continue to essentially rob RBY of the win. Maybe Meredith should of screamed every time Lee was about to tilt him?

Wow, that hadn't really occurred to me (no points awarded on those cradles). I had to rewatch the match. RBY had the cradle locked. Had Desanto on his hip, and was in the process of running the cradle both times.
I grew up with a guy. Tough, brutal guy. A bit of a bully actually. But I also saw him broke a couple times, and when those guys break, they shatter.
