Failed to follow the suggestion of others.

Well, hell, it's no wonder DeSanto can't calm down. Look who's trying to teach him that.

Just my two cents, but this post is a bad take. DeSanto has wrestled considerably cleaner and calmer since he went to Iowa........we haven't seen any of that crap he pulled at Drexel since he went out there. There's no doubt that the Iowa coaching staff has improved him. He was totally out of control by the time he got to the end of that season at Drexel. I don't have to remind anyone of the Micic debacle. Last night was the first time he looked a little bit mentally off at Iowa, that I've seen.

Personally, my take is that the super-high strung appearance of the Brands brothers appeals to some kids............I don't much care for it MYSELF, but the key word is "myself." There are some guys who fit in well there. I respect Tom Brands. I do wish Terry would sit down though.....hahaha

Then you haven't been paying attention to DeSanto's matches.

Well there was that "thumbs up" match. Just saying.

That is certainly possible, Nova! I've been busy with work and honestly haven't seen much this year - hence my not even participating in Know your PSU Wrestlers!

If you can point me to specific examples, I'll be happy to change my opinion.

DeSanto has progressed at Iowa.

I won't go as far as "none of that crap he pulled at Drexel" -- screaming in Suriano's face in last year's dual was regrettable. And roughing up Lizak at the end of that match was not exactly sportsmanship.

But there have been no deliberate attempts to injure.

Wow, that hadn't really occurred to me (no points awarded on those cradles). I had to rewatch the match. RBY had the cradle locked. Had Desanto on his hip, and was in the process of running the cradle both times.
I grew up with a guy. Tough, brutal guy. A bit of a bully actually. But I also saw him broke a couple times, and when those guys break, they shatter.

Anyone remember Terry Brands vs Jason Kelber?

That's not one of Terry's finest moments. He didn't break physically in that match, but he couldn't control his emotions - crying, he refused to shake Kelber's hand after the match. So I think you're 100% right - I can't think of a more brutal wrestler than Terry Brands was, and he was "shattered," in a word after that match.

Thought he was faking?
I’m not doubting Desanto was injured last night, but his most significant injury may not have been physical. Brands should “rest” Desanto at least one match as Desanto marching out there with no signs of a physical injury and dominating would not be a good look for Desanto. Brands is supporting his starter by letting Glynn go the next match.

MFF's are when no match has taken place and do not count as a loss. Injury Defaults happen during a match and they do count as losses.
He's using imprecise language but referring to Spey's idiotic notion that the match shouldn't count because of the injury default, despite RBY leading 5-1 at the time of the stoppage.

I think the first one should have been stopped due to potentially dangerous so no takedown if I was calling it . Didn’t see the second one
I disagree. He turned his foot the direction he was pulling it which would take a lot of the strain off of the knee. Don't think RBY did anything wrong.. ref looking right at it... but stopped when Desanto yelled as he was getting turned.

Rather than starting a new thread. Using Intermat rankings, my predictions:

RBY from 3 to 2
DeSanto from 2 to 4
Hall/Kem will flip flop 1/2
Brooks 9 to 8
Assad 6 to 9

I agree. There was next to 0% chance that Desanto takes the mat tomorrow, healthy or not. Could you imagine AD running out and steamrolling some kid 2 days after that display?

I just now read Spey's take.

Proof that some people (often including myself) should never post sober...

Well, the best reason to agree with you is that that seems to be what Brands himself felt, at least at his press conference.

Like any great dual meet, last night had a lot of controversy and frankly a lot of weirdness!

Hopefully we win 60-0 next year and avoid any controversy :)

Brands better he careful with how he assesses the injury. Last time Cael tried that, a cruiseliner from Jerzee took our 125er ;):(

1 arm behind his back defense .. wait, what?

What did you think of that take down by rby. Thing of beauty. He seemed so calm in that match. I think he has matured a lot from last year and doesn't feel as much pressure. That was a huge match in a hostel arena

Which one?

If you mean his shot with 1 hand behind his back, I'm jealous. Doing that to a D1 All-American is ungodly quickness.

Q - what do Nolf, Zain, Bo and Spencer have in common?

A - no matter where Terry ate seeded they run the table.

To some extent seeding is over rated, definitely over debated

Spey is out of his depth

From Terry's copy of Coaching For Dummies:Lee's Dad's 3-Inches of Secret Wrestling Stuff.
First 3 Chapters just say recruit PA.
Found in Chapter 4: The Duck
The conventional duck could protect your seed without even going. Now the in-match duck allows you to test the waters and bail out if things don't look good. It would be insane if you dropped in the rankings.
The last 2 chapters are a mix of coloring book and simple word searches that it looks like someone got frustrated and scribbled over.

I've shook hands and chatted a bit with Cael. But I'm gonna have to live vicariously through your meeting Dan the Man. He's been a hero since I was a kid. Cheers.
I met Dan at Beat the Streets a few years ago, and considering what happened Friday night, our conversation was priceless.

Of course, I was decked out in PSU gear, so when he came over to me he says something to the effect of, "You guys have something special going there. Of course, you had to come to Iowa to get your coach." I wonder if he would understand the irony in that statement.

Of course, Iowa had to come to Pennsylvania to get their wrestlers.

The consensus on other boards do not favor AD. Most feel it was a tap out. Either way want him healthy for a rematch should they meet again.

The 6 is probably tougher than the 7 but still, those are guys the top 4 should beat.

But to go down that road -- if RBY beats Gross, here are their records against each other:
RBY 2-0
Gross 2-2
DeSanto 1-2
Rivera 0-1 (Rivera also lost to Piotrowski via 2nd period default)

In this scenario, making RBY 1-0 and DeSanto 1-1 should not affect that order, except maybe to flip Gross and DeSanto.
#4 seed in that group has it tougher, as they'll surely get Piotrowski. In fact, Piotrowski may break into that top-4 party, only losing to DeSanto so far. After the top-5, big gap.
