FC: Edsall (or Edsel) expresses hope for rivalry with PSU - fairgambit, What say you?

If I was the Maryland coach, I would say the same thing. Saying you have a rivalry with Rutgers doesn't get Maryland anywhere. They want to move up a level of play to be competitive with the bigger boys. Now I do not think they will get there as they do not have the alumni base interested in football and their AD is so much in the red it will be tough for them to compete $$ wise.

After this years game I would really like to to see CJF keep hold of Edsel's hand and give him a good talking to about sportsmanship like Chuck Noll did to that lowlife Jerry Glanville many, many years ago.

Is this a serious question? Anyone who knows anything about Penn State football realizes we have only one BIG RIVAL. To be a BIG RIVAL you need to have an excellent football program, steeped in history and tradition. You need to have a large and rabid fan base. You need to have a national reputation, both athletically and academically. Finally, you need to play Penn State every year. Rutgers meets all, most, some of the criterial, well...they do play us every year. That's good enough for me. RUTGERS is our one and only BIG RIVAL! :)

What will you do if Rutgers beats Penn State this year? If you diminish an opponent to such a degree, how will it feel if you lose to them?

Ask Rutgers about that. We were Ped State. Some of their fans wore pedo shirts to the game. They were talking all kind of shit last year and fully expected to beat us. They didn't.

You left out the best part, aside from ru's interception-laden loss. ru's president had to issue a public apology to Penn State, which received national attention, for the disgusting behavior of some ru athletic supporters last year.

Flood had the right response to this yesterday. The way Edsall flapped his gums after last years game reminds me of a child that longs to sit at the grownup table for thanksgiving dinner. He got a glimpse last year only because his aunt and uncle were sick and didn't show and now he thinks the spot at the table is his.

I did not diminish Rutgers. They did that all by themselves with their history of underachieving and lack of accomplishment. Still, I realize they could beat us...

after score is 100 to 0 in the 2nd quarter, Franklin puts in scrubs and runs up the score using walk-ons.
