FC: hairball and the michigan football team are in France this week.

Paris in Spring time or Indianapolis in December????? A wonderful French cafe or St. Elmo's???? Our players and fans will take Indy every time. Actually France is a good place for Michigan. Two groups that know all about losing wars and battles.
In defense of the French, losing a war means they finished in second place. Harbaugh can't seem to finish better than third. Maybe the French can teach him a few things.

That's actually really, really cool. I'm sure they're going to have a great time. The best though will be when Michigan loses this season and they're fans go off about wasting time in Paris.
As much as I am annoyed by Harbaugh, and he may be motivated by the attention, I think exposing his players to things beyond football is fantastic for their growth as contributing members of this country.

I agree. But this must cost an effin' sh*t ton of money. Hundreds of staff and players who need flights, accommodations, meals, and tickets to museums and stuff. You can do it on the cheap in Paris - but I doubt they are.

It's costing less then $500k (much less than last year since no equipment lol),
Kids are in Normandy today.
This is an awesome experience for the kids, and I don't understand why anyone is against this.

I agree with the general concept but seeing the Mona Lisa, for example, doesn't do much for personal growth. Why not go somewhere like Haiti and help build houses for a week. That'll do more for personal growth and gaining an understanding of the lives of others that will visiting Paris or Rome. The European trips are simply tourist getaways.

You’ll get no argument from me that collegiate football programs spend too much money in general. For whatever it’s worth, this trip - like last year’s to Italy - was funded in its entirety by a couple of donors.

Also, I’m surprised today’s Michigan outrage here is about this and not your women’s lax team getting robbed by UM yesterday.

I'm certainly not.

If you know anything about me, you know I love France and Paris. All for these guys getting a chance to see and experience a place so grand and beautiful. No comment on the lax game...

I can’t argue with the benefits of visiting areas of great need, but that doesn’t excite all recruits like a sightseeing trip.

Seeing the Mona Lisa and doing charity work are not mutually exclusive to personal growth.

Both are good experiences.

Marty Smith is with these dopes. The report this morning was from Normandy with a bunch of steak heads from Michigan saying junk like “this really puts football in perspective”. Why is ESPN covering Harbaugh’s field trip.

I agree with you Dan. The reality is that if Franklin was doing this there would be a waiting list to join the official "PSU in Paris" tour.

Make up your mind; is this about "exposing his players to things beyond football" or exciting all recruits?

So prior to this costly trip to France, nothing had happened to them to put football in perspective.

Look I hate Michy and Coach Jim, but this is an opportunity that many of these kids will never have if they didn’t play football for UM.

Guys on this board should be more pissed that Michy got “special” treatment once again on transfers. Patterson should have been made to sit a year. However Delaney and NCAA feels football is better with a more competitive Michigan.

They'd get in the way of all of the HS kids doing it so that they can include it on their college applications.

I don’t believe that we can say UM got “special treatment” on the Patterson transfer yet. The NCAA changed its transfer rule on April 18, after which UM, Ole Miss, Patterson and the NCAA agreed UM and Patterson would rescind their application on the grounds Miss/Freeze mislead him and instead apply under the new rule with Ole Miss rescinding its objection. So we’ll have to see how that new transfer rule is applied going forward - this was the first case to use it. I would suspect the next few cases to attempt to use it will be the other former Ole Miss football players trying to transfer to other schools. If they are denied immediately eligibility, it would certainly appear UM/Patterson got special treatment. Their cases haven’t been ruled on yet.

Soccer offers more action vs. that of a Harbaugh/scUM offense*
I don’t know..the reversal of offensive fortunes/outcomes over the past two PSU-UM games would lead me to believe each is capable of putting up points and yards on the other, no?

Well, there was the time France saved our bacon in the Revolutonary War.....

My mind is made up... helping the downtrodden would be better for them than seeing the world as a tourist, but Harbaugh can’t sell that as well to recruits. Seeing the world is still better than not seeing the world for these kids. How is this difference so hard to understand?
