So, unprecedented by NCAA standards, like Rudock by B1G standards. Make those bailouts count.I don’t believe that we can say UM got “special treatment” on the Patterson transfer yet. The NCAA changed its transfer rule on April 18, after which UM, Ole Miss, Patterson and the NCAA agreed UM and Patterson would rescind their application on the grounds Miss/Freeze mislead him and instead apply under the new rule with Ole Miss rescinding its objection. So we’ll have to see how that new transfer rule is applied going forward - this was the first case to use it. I would suspect the next few cases to attempt to use it will be the other former Ole Miss football players trying to transfer to other schools. If they are denied immediately eligibility, it would certainly appear UM/Patterson got special treatment. Their cases haven’t been ruled on yet.
And we might be better off.If not for the French, we may still be bending the knee to the crown.
Is your contention that the first to use a new, 10-day old rule is receiving “special treatment”? Would you disagree that whether it is “special treatment” would depend on how the rule is applied to others in similar circumstances - which we will learn in the coming weeks? The NCAA said months ago it was going to make this rule change. Thankfully for Ole Miss it allows to save face with the half dozen waivers they were inevitably going to lose under the old rule anyway. So, unprecedented by NCAA standards, like Rudock by B1G standards. Make those bailouts count.
What happened to your free board? Dear God. It's dead for the most part but you have complete losers like that dbag pharmdablue or whatever and some other moron going on about how Barkley sucks. No wonder you guys evacuated to the fort.I don’t know..the reversal of offensive fortunes/outcomes over the past two PSU-UM games would lead me to believe each is capable of putting up points and yards on the other, no?
Haven’t visited the free board in years. Take from that what you will. What happened to your free board? Dear God. Oh I get it. Don't blame you.Haven’t visited the free board in years. Take from that what you will.
Once again, you sum things up very well. They're just being leadersy and besty. We can't compete.
As long as one team is missing their top 5 LB’s and #6 gets booted in the first quarter for a BS targeting call...as long as that happens, both can put up points.I don’t know..the reversal of offensive fortunes/outcomes over the past two PSU-UM games would lead me to believe each is capable of putting up points and yards on the other, no?
Sure, but when does he start exposing them to football? Not much of that has happened apparently. As much as I am annoyed by Harbaugh, and he may be motivated by the attention, I think exposing his players to things beyond football is fantastic for their growth as contributing members of this country.
My mind is made up... helping the downtrodden would be better for them than seeing the world as a tourist, but Harbaugh can’t sell that as well to recruits. Seeing the world is still better than not seeing the world for these kids. How is this difference so hard to understand?
how many academic scholarships could they have paid for with what this is costing?
Soccer offers more action vs. that of a Harbaugh/scUM offense*
Yeah, that’s why he’s doing it...give me a break. It's a privately funded trip and an unbelievable opportunity for young student athletes to see the world, learn and share a cultural experience. If that offends anyone, then you lead a pretty pathetic existence.
Right....and realistically he should be...if he’s not, then that’s a big failure on Harbaugh’s part.Say what you want. Harbaugh will soon be 3-1 vs Franklin.
Guess we'll see about that. And your only chance is another free agent qb because none of the QBs Jim has recruited have done much.Say what you want. Harbaugh will soon be 3-1 vs Franklin.
Nah. I'm confident it'll be 2-2 when all is said and done. Afterward Third Place Jim can plan his next vacation with the team.Say what you want. Harbaugh will soon be 3-1 vs Franklin.
I guess I'm curious.... Even if it is privately funded, how is it not an improper benefit if it's limited to the football team?

I'm guessing that the team is not chowing down at Restaurant Le Coupe-ChouHe also said it costs less than $500k total, for everything. I don't know how many people are going on this trip, but it's almost certainly more than 100 people. ~$5k per person for flights, hotels, food, and travel in France seems very, very conservative (and almost not possible).
Exactly. All Michigan athletes should get to partake in the fabulous French culture or none should. Seems like the donor would pay for a trip to the moon to get football a few more wins. It's most certainly an improper benefit because the booster is paying for it solely due to the athletic abilities of the players.

Sure.
Hey, one amusing thing to watch is Harbaugh screwing up your recruiting time after time. How do you have two instate 5 star offensive tackles in the 2019 class, which Michigan needs desperately, and both of them hate Harbaugh's guts? Well done there.
I guess I'm curious.... Even if it is privately funded, how is it not an improper benefit if it's limited to the football team?
An off-campus trip overseas outside of the academic year that does not include competition is allowable under NCAA rules - with the notable exception being for basketball which is allowed a foreign trip including competition once every four years. It's most certainly an improper benefit because the booster is paying for it solely due to the athletic abilities of the players.
Hopefully they learn from the French and give a half-hearted effort for the first 5 minutes of every future game followed by total surrender for the rest of the game.
I wonder how many of their players will contract VD as a result of the trip to France???
Interesting. I was just asking, didn't know.An off-campus trip overseas outside of the academic year that does not include competition is allowable under NCAA rules - with the notable exception being for basketball which is allowed a foreign trip including competition once every four years.
Your redefinition of improper benefits would imply that the donors who have endowed athletic scholarships are guilty of providing improper benefits “because the booster is paying for it solely due to the athletic abilities of the players.”
So if I can send players on a vacation to France, why can't I buy them houses, or cars?
Do you now think Harbaugh does his pressers in French? Did I hear right that next year he is taking them to Athens so he can give them in Greek.Harbaugh wins the Spring!
No, Parisnice
If the administration at Michigan had any stones, they would tell Harbaugh his team actually had to win something before he gets to take them on some extravagant trip.Nice cultural opportunity that no doubt will pay dividends on the football field this season.
