I didn’t think I was defending anything. Just pointing out that the interview BK gave before the senior open was the cause for confusion. Listening to the interview and there is a plausible explanation for fans on GIA thinking he was talking 197 and not 97.

Random logistics question. I see a lot of cross-pollination when visiting here and GIA. Do you busy bees pay a fee to both sites to spar? I joined here and had “insufficient rights” to post, then suddenly was allowed to. Guessing I’m on a short, free trial basis that will expire. If I pay-to-play down the road, does that allow me to joust on GIA, too? I don’t mind a verbal scrap or two, especially all in fun, and especially coming out of the blue-and-white corner.

You don’t need to pay. The “insufficient rights” thingy was probably just a temporary hold for your user registration to be approved/cleared before you could do anything with it.

Originally, IIRC (it was someting like 9 yrs ago), the Maturity Test was a measure for 8th graders in certain states (e.g., MN) to gain eligibility to compete in HS state
championship tournaments (hence allowing for the possibility of 5x HS champs). Certain internet personalities (e.g., I) then took the liberty of adopting a similar protocol (whether real or not) for approving internet message board accounts for posting privileges. In the internet version of the model, the primary factor was emotional maturity.

But as @El-Jefe alluded to, it is akin to golf scoring. The lower your score, the better. Hence, people like me have posting privileges free-of-charge.
