Ferrari commits to Iowa

Did you maybe come up with that on your own?
What's your explanation on why he would use a hat of a team that wasn't in his top three? The only explanation is I chose Iowa because we are second best and I want to beat Penn state. He made his choice about Penn state without Penn state being a choice. I'll let that settle in for a while lol

"Attitude" is a stupid word to use. More specifically, there is a pretty massive difference between being self-confident and being a jerk.

I'm embarrassed for you Iowa people. You should know better. Your state produced John Wayne, the paragon of a self-confident but humble man. I'd say the same for the great Dan Gable. Now the state's premier wrestling program (for now) has got the Ferrari's.
You’re clutching that purse a bit hard.

Maybe I missed something in this thread, but AJ and Keuter can't both be at 197, so either Ben stays with football exclusively or someone is going up to heavyweight. Just sayin'.

Keuter is playing football as a linebacker, for wrestling going forward, he is a heavy and will likely be adding weight throughout his career at Iowa. There is a real risk he will not be able to manage the demand of dual sports, and the thinking is bar injury, football may win out in the end.

That said I would not be suprised if AJ is now also a heavy, so an overlap may exist there.

As the saying goes: he who pays, decides. Ferentz is paying.

If I was AJ and as uncertain of my future home address I would be injecting some serious roids and putting on as much muscle mass as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't go 240 or better by summer's end.

Back to back grinding sports seasons for 4/5 years will certainly wear on him. That's almost full out from August to March. Will be brutal on him. Keuter may be unique, but that's a lot of wear and tear.

AJ said he weighs 225 on his Instagram at 7% bodyfat (as he shows himself getting a massage naked lol) He plans to fight 205 in MMA also so I doubt he is interested in shrinking his body to make 197 again. Think it’s more likely Kueter chooses football after realizing his potential there to make millions and if AJ returns he’s Iowa’s heavyweight.

Who wants to see an AJ-Christian Carroll grudge match at Heavy??

I’m less about forgiveness and second chances when the offenses are multiple, violent, and pre-meditated in nature. Right or wrong, I don’t care how the sexual assault case against AJ resolves. If the victim suddenly drops charges, I’ll believe she was paid off, maybe even with NIL cash. If the case proceeds and he’s found innocent, I’ll still believe he did it. The persona he chooses to display to the world has me convinced. Convinced that the “privilege” he feels he’s owed for being an elite athlete, and the self-adoration he baths in fuels his actions. Above all, right or wrong, I’ll NEVER wish a second chance for a child of privilege undeniably guilty of endangering the life of a different woman, the one our naked narcissist struck head-on while breaking yet more laws.

So you're on the fence about A.J.?

God I hope the Ferrari’s wrestle at Iowa. Throw in Arnold and a lot of chirping will be coming from the cornfields. Can they back it up. Tattoos and blond hair galore in Brands World.

This Is boring. Angelo is still in high school and even if A.J. doesn't go to jail he's not beating out Cass. Only one of them can actually wrestle for Iowa next year and no matter what weight he goes he has a certain loss coming against Penn State.

Let's move on to Michigan because Iowa ain't a factor next year.

This one hits home. For the accident alone, I feel he should be behind a barbed-wire one. This isn’t a casual, brashness-of-youth misstep. It’s a conscious choice to speed a multi-ton vehicle over a blind ridge, playing chicken with human life. The razor-like metal twists a few inches a different way and a woman’s dead. There’s a huge difference between Carter’s athletic cockiness and the sense of entitled arrogance that lets immature men act in ways that threaten lives or overpower women. All the strength and miniscule body fat in the world can’t make infants like this anything other than insecure weaklings. That get me off the fence?

I'm 100% with you. I have 5 daughters so there is a little skin in the game.

Not proud of it, but it’s raw hate between me and the AJ’s of the world. Eternal bullies, needing to stroke themselves with mental masturbation. When not enough, they act reckless to prove manly prowess, regardless of who they endanger. Worse, they use physical force to overpower those weaker, including women. In my admittedly small mind, these are the most spineless, cowardly men. This one, in particular, deserves no further opportunity to disgrace an NCAA match. Apologies for revealing my dark place (and I won’t spend another word on this creature). I’m actually very light-hearted.

Not sure you'll get much argument for your take over here. You certainly won't from me.

Yep

Apparently there is another hurdle to clear for AJ beyond getting charges dropped (or found not guilty) and Iowa (the school, not wrestling team) to accept him (and the legal risk) Apparently, his credits to "continuing a degree" might be questionable if he stopped doing school since his car crash and hasn't been doing it the last 18 months (I'd be floored if he did anything school)

I know redshirts can help but not sure NCAA is big on letting people keep eligibility when they are facing criminal charges and not doing school. Especially since I think it's covered the Iowa wrestlers can't use an Olympic redshirt to cover a gambling suspension. Feel after the criminal courts then Iowa the school clear him, the NCAA can be a process in itself. Now AJ definitely has eligibility, he enrolled in 2020 and that year didn't even count. The idea he might have 3 years left might not be true right but I'm not an expert here.

If everything goes right for AJ, I imagine he might be able to wrestle 2024-2025 with his brothers as Iowa's heavyweight (assuming Anthony clears his own issues and they don't leave) but that might be it since he seems to want to go full steam ahead for MMA. I'd put the odds of him being Iowa's 197 for next year at under 1% though, especially since I don't think he can make 197 as is. Maybe Iowa's heavyweight if Cassioppi is suspended (not saying he is, just that could be a path if it's true)

This ... also, it probably doesn't help wrestling that Kueter literally just saw two guys in a similar profile to him (long, lengthy athlete) become millionaires overnight playing for Iowa (Campbell, Van Ness) Can Kueter end up picking wrestling? Sure, I'd be shocked though. The perks and clout of being a football player is quite awesome at any P5 school.

It's very easy for Kueter to say he will do both right now, he hasn't had to do anything yet but say it. He's going to be hobbled and tired by early January when football is over, only to realize he has to wrestle immediately (without practicing wrestling for months) since he's missed half the season and B1G duals started.

Ferrari spent 2 years in Stillwater. He can get down to 165.

To clarify the gambling/shirt issue: any athlete who is suspended cannot use a shirt to circumvent the suspension. Until/unless Ferrari is actually suspended by Iowa or B10 or NCAA (and not just ick-tastic), he can defer eligibility with an Olympic shirt.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought 2020 counted. I was under the impression that 2021 was the free year.

This is why Hall and Joseph, who wrestled in 2020, could not come back in 2021.

AJs remaining eligibility is a mute point anyway. Assuming he gets cleared to wrestle at Iowa, whether it be the call of MMA, a school administratoror his parole officer I would put his chances of lasting:

1 full year - 80%
2 full years - 30%
3 full years - are you friggin kidding me?

Angelo Ferrari, the No. 1 170 pound wrestling prospect in the Class of 2024, announced his commitment to Iowa.

So his title didn't count?
As much as Carter's, AB's, Nick's and RBY's.
The only title from 2021 that the authenticity is in question is Iowa's team title. I mean when examined through a critical lens the last time the Hawks were actually good enough to win a team title against a full field was 2010. There is a legitimate argument to be made for the 2021 Iowa title to wear an asterisk.
