Ferrari commits to Iowa

We usually see eye to eye on most things, but good lord is that a stretch and unfair to Angelo. The fake hat commitment is a gag that's been around for decades. College football recruits do it all the time. Let the 18 year old be goofy.

Also not correct to say AJ's path started when he became a celebrity at OSU. He and Anthony got kicked out of 2 high schools for disciplinary reasons. They were rotten eggs before they were famous.

Angelo has zero public disciplinary issues. Could he be an issue like his brothers? Sure, that family is insane. Not fair to convict him yet though.

You know who is consistently disrespectful on social media? Carter Starocci. Doesn't mean he's a troublemaker.
I usually agree with most of what you post. Don't get a big head.....I'm pretty weird :). The "Fake Hat" commitment has been around for years. You start to pick up one hat/helmet and then pick up the real school. PSYCH. .... However....I rarely...actually have never...... seen a recruit pick up a school's hat or helmet......and then laugh while tossing it to the floor before declaring his real commitment. Pretty disrespectful/lame in my opinion. Of course then you bring up Starocci and fact-check my ass with reality.

I've said before here that I have had some friends who are lifelong Hawk fans, but if you're in the position of defending "attitude," man, have you got some problems out there.

1) Mean? No, he was insecure. That hat stunt, the posturing, all of that is the sign of an insecure wrestler.
2) Not every college football kid petulantly throws a college's hat away so that's just a total fabrication on your part.
3) As long as Penn State continues to recruit good kids, and basically continues to be Penn State, I can say this: Penn State wrestling, unlike Iowa right now, will NEVER be "soft." Enjoy watching our taillights stay well ahead of you.
I do think it was a tell as they say in poker. IMO some insecurity displayed. Iowa has been gut punched if not eviscerated. They need some positive publicity after weeks of negatives. It will all be settled on the Mat. Lastly, by most accounts a good young man with family baggage. Not worth the risk.

AJ’s case goes to trial September 26th. I don’t see any coach touching him unless he gets a favorable verdict. Just my opinion but I think he’s done with college wrestling.
By favorable verdict, it has to be "Not Guilty" and the trial makes it very clear that the entire case was BS with an overzealous prosecutor. It can't be a "Not Guilty" OJ verdict.

great move for PSU they don't need him and why did he even have a hat from PSU??LOL

Ferraris as Iowa culture leaders is more than we could've ever hoped for.

Poor Mike Kemerer ...

This is actually the best take of all. The fact that a fan base, and likely “the program” itself, does a full 180 on what they’re hitching their survival to in a matter of 6-7 years is telling. There’s a lot of pasta on the floors in Iowa these days.

It's a 180 my man. 360 means they're right back where they started.

On second thought...

The hat thing, who cares. He is a kid and kids do dumb things. Penn State wasn't even mentioned in his recruiting so the only reason he does that is to show Penn State is the top dog that everyone is chasing. Kids get such bad advice when they are getting the camera. He should have made the announcement about him and the school he was going to. Instead he tries to show that he somehow slighted Penn State which he really didn't. That for reminding everyone who is in the lead.

He got his advice on the hat thing from his Dad, so what’s a kid to do…

It's pretty obvious Brands wanted Angelo announcing separately after "the process" to give Iowa a second boost in the summer. Now people are talking about AJ joining again. Some positive (ish) summer hype. I kind of feel bad for the schools that wasted time and energy recruiting Angelo solo when it's obvious that would never work.

Something everyone knew about since Anthony announced is finally official.
1. Ferraris are ALWAYS a package. All 3 committed together but are announcing separately.
2. AJ will join if he can clear charges and get into school. That's been true for a while.
3. Angelo is the big prize Iowa hopes to retain no matter what.

As for AJ, 2 additional years of 4 hrs per day of body boosting, with an eye on WWF or MMA. He looks bigger to me, but all of the flexing videos seem blend together. Even when at Oky state there was talk of growing into heavy eventually. I would not be suprised to see him go Hwt somewhere around 220.

I would love to see Brooks take care of him, which I am fully confident he would. Kirk? Not as sure, but Kirk on top would be entertaining.

Kerkvliet?? Against a 220 pound AJ??

Thats a huge mismatch IMO

Of course advantage Kerk given his level of athleticism and size. I am not thrilled with Kerk's mental game against Parris, despite beating him previously IMO Kerk was far too cautious once he realized he was up against someone who could match his blend of size, strength and athleticism. If Kerk stays aggressive he can beat anyone short of Gable. His confidence was nearly totally absent against Mason, and it's unclear why.

That said, Snyder proved a strong athletic undersized Hwt can dominate even the big boys. Cassar to a similar extent with another 10-15lbs. If AJ returns, and goes Heavy, he will run through most of the field like a hot knife through butter. He is too fast and too strong. Give credit where credit is due. He is a monumental headcase and total jackass, but he is stronger than anyone else in the country, while not suffering from the typical tOSU body boosting stiffness and slowdown. On a wrestling mat he is the real deal.

Two (3?) years ago he was the real deal, sorry not buying any of that. Has the guy been in a legit wrestling match since his title?

Oh,and even Snyder wouldnt have beat Parris this year.

AB and Kerk will beat AJ 10 out of 10 matches. If AJ had spent the last 4 years training at PSU I could see him winning a couple but he hasn’t he’s been in a horrific car crash and is presently…so yeah AJ is not there right now.

The fake commitment works much better when the team you are trying to diss is in your final announced top 3 and would actually accept you if you wanted to go there. When they wouldn't touch you or your family with a 10 foot pole it is just a pathetic "look at me" moment. Iowa deserves the Ferrari family. The only fans happier than Iowa fans after this announcement are Penn State and Iowa State fans.
Penn State is simply in the heads of Iowa wrestling. They loath what has become and have a severe case of PennState envy!

I get a “mob mentality” vibe reading about the Ferrari men, as if they can’t function as individuals without blood-tie reinforcement. I’m either old, old school, or both. Family support is terrific, but a cloying need for parents or adult relatives to relocate to a child’s college town strikes me as parasitic. Visit often to attend a child’s events, sure. But hovering like an umbilical cloud over a young adult’s life only darkens it and stunts maturation (see Spencer). The great collegiate wrestlers of the past never needed NILs or an entourage to excel. If young Angelo is able to move away from his family’s shadow and build a life
Spencer always seemed pretty mature to me. Well spoken in dozens of interviews over the years.

I wish I had a father figure to support me the way his dad has. Some people dream of having that in their life. All of his flaws included

"Umbilical Cloud"- 🤣

Was he mean or something? Did the same stunt I see 100 times a year by football recruits. Your fan base may just be a bit soft.
Sounds like you are speaking from experience apparently you are incapable of understanding the point that is trying to be made. Nobody dissed the hat trick lol. It only would make sense if PSU was one of his top three. The way he did it means PSU is in his head already and maybe shows that's where he really wanted to go in the first place but we didn't pursue it

i hope psu is in his head. Pretty obvious who we need to focus on competing against. I’d speculate it’s 95% theater which is what will happen considering NIL and the new landscape of college athletics.

I think I'll go with this.

Oh come on. The hat thing was funny. Lighten up Francises.
I thought it's was ill-conceived, and ultimately most entertaining for us PSU brethren.

PSU was neither on his list, nor ours.

All that this stunt did was confirm PSU is in his head, and he trolled some of the more gullable newly gained Iowa supporters.

He took what should have been a 100% Iowa moment and brought in something else.

Is it a big deal, no, and it's not worthy of much memory either. Just one small link of what I expect is a very long chain of unfortunates to come.

Look at you here talking about Angelo the Iowa recruit. He is smiling while reading these Boards. I would put N$L money on it
