Final Coaches Radio Show - Wednesday, 3/4

So, if that is the case, aren’t professors (experts?) there to supervise and correct problems. Problems just happen way too often.

Honestly, no. I was in the college of communications at PSU. Most likely kids who take a particular course are responsible for running this or it’s part of a work study job. Kids probably sign up to run things broadcast on Lion Vision and are responsible for showing up and doing it. Their competency is reflected in the quality.

When I was at PSU I stayed in State College the summer of 2002. I did a production internship at 93.7 The Bus. Part of what I did was run the board for remote broadcasts. You know, when an on air personality would go to a car dealership or something and do their show live. Well I was the guy at the studio at 7PM at night running the audio board for it. By myself. Nobody else in the place. I was an intern. If a radio station had an intern from PSU solely responsible for making sure their broadcast was going out over the airwaves with zero supervision if something went wrong you can bet Lion Vision broadcasts are run by students who are doing it with no supervision.

Indeed, I do subscribe to the belief that sarcasm is at its best when not instantly recognizable. However, that does carry the risk of unintended consequences.

I used to get in trouble a lot with an old girlfriend's acquaintances because I assumed incorrectly that everyone had watched Seinfeld as religiously as I did as a yute . . . a lot of the lines I'd nonchalantly drop into conversations made them think I was a real a-hole. Which, in the end, made it even funnier -- to me. To my girlfriend, not so much.

"That's a shame" and "I hate anyone who ever had a pony" were my biggest downfalls.
You're racking up some serious likes with your off-topic tales. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is the same University that has the top turf management program in the country and has nowhere near an elite level golf course(s). Not aesthetically, not quality of grounds, nor difficulty of play.
I would contend PSU audio sucking is Penn State being Penn State.
I complained about the same thing. The problem is the course is maintained by university employees. There is a union hierarchy at play. So it’s not the best and the brightest based system.

Yep. Local courses, which have less money, get much more help from the turf group and are much prettier courses.

Took a mini-vacation to Florida between the end of the season and Big Ten's. And YES, I did play basketball -- and have the shiner to prove it. Got popped pretty good, but scored on the play, so it's all good :).
My father used to play pick up BBall against Chuck Bednarik when he was around the Upenn Campus a lot post retirement. He said battling Concrete Charlie was no picnic

Skytop is a pretty nice course. Pretty darn hard too, especially for someone who isn't very accurate with their driver.

Just recalled this one that almost got me in trouble . . . Girlfriend accompanied me when I had to have my wisdom teeth out. I don't remember anything from the first few minutes coming out of the gas, but she said the first thing I said was, "Wasn't my shirt tucked in when we came in here?"

Apparently, the dentist did not get the reference and was not amused in the least, and so my girlfriend once again had to apologize for my behavior. I still maintain that was a good one, though, given I was barely even conscious.
You need a new dentist. No excuse for not getting that reference.

ROTFLMAO! I've always maintained that if you can't quote Seinfeld at least three times a day you've missed the party.

At least they have the excuse of the golf courses being built decades before the turf mgmt program was instituted.

Unlike, say, the College of Engineering and the saga of having to radically redesign its main building (Hammond) during construction due to a soil test that could've been conducted in the preliminary design phase.

Guess you never had an old t-shirt of mine that said "It is better to wrestle and lost than play basketball!"

Yep. If you can not put a driver in play your round will consist of many lost balls and a very high score. It isn't just Skytop that is nicer. Centre Hills, Toftrees, Mt View, Sinking Valley, Iron Masters, Belle Springs, Clinton Country Club are all prettier and better maintained courses than the PSU courses.

I saw this t-shirt frequently when I was a kid in southeast PA in the 80’s
So the decade that gave us “destruction and destroy” also gave us “to wrestle and lost”!!!

I say to that: to grammar and beyonder!! :)

With everything that has changed in the last 35 years in University Park, how is it possible that the Hammond Building is still standing? It blows my mind every time I go to Zeno's.

15 or 20 years ago I got my kids t-shirts that had "Why I Wrestle" on the front. On the back was "Because it only takes one ball to play basketball".:)

I remember growing up, wrestling in the 90’s. T-shirts were a HUGE part of that nostalgia. I remember seeing a shirt that said something to the effect of “You wrestle like your girlfriend, I would know” which is a dated joke by today’s standards.

Yeah, it was a long day, but that view off of 16(I think, the downhill par 3) was worth all the pain. Sounds like I have a few courses to visit. Out of that list I've only played Toftrees. Is Centre Hills open to the public? I always thought it was members only.

Centre Hills is indeed a private club.

Centre Hills is the only course on my little list that would require you play with a member.
The view from number 16 on Skytop is beautiful at anytime, with fall foliage it is definitely spectacular.
