McKenna beat Henderson 4-3 with a last-second takedown at the Hokie Open.

Are you sure? I'll take Tommy Thorn over Gulibon right now.

You love to designate annual Penn State whipping boys don't you. Last year you revelled in the Altons' struggles; this year you've targeted Jimmy and Bo Nickal.

Hopefully Thorn does a bit better than last year's Gopher darlings Jake Short and Nick Wanzek.

I didn't revel in the Alton's struggles. I did point out the absurdity of their overrankings, as I have with Gulibon and Nickal.

Nickal is ranked like 17th or 18th. You have an issue with CP's predictions - which are clearly different than his rankings - but somehow you haven't figured out that there is a difference.

As Dice mentioned, Nickal isn't ranked high at all. Why is 18 absurd? I understand the puzzlement re: Jimmy's. I'm sure he'll lose early and you'll get your satisfaction.

You do realize that by overranking Nickal you are knocking true deservers out of the spot, such as Wanzek, Barnes, Staudenmayer, Miller, etc. If you are going to rank freshmen based solely upon their rep then put Fox Baldwin in instead.

I rank you 34th. Sorry, you've been left out -- feel free to come back once you qualify.

At least now we've established that Jammit thinks Nickal is overranked at 17 or 18. We will find out.

I don't understand why people care about the rankings, especially preseason. Win and you get ranked, but who cares anyway? They have no bearing on anything important. They are just for discussion. Also , Nickal had matches as a RS, Baldwin is a true freshman, completely different.

Nickal's best college outing was losing to a one time NCAA qualifer. His entire ranking rests upon high school hype. If that is the measuring stick then I'll take Baldwin's national records of 395 career wins and 305 pins.

Here's a great idea, let's watch and see how Nickal does before we judge. But then Jammies wouldn't get the attention he craves.

In the grand scheme, I absolutely agree with you. Preseason rankings, or rankings on any particular week during the season, have no bearing on how things will play out at the NCAAs. If folks use them just for discussion, then they are keeping things in perspective. Jammies, appears to miss that point, and go a bit overboard. Also, I 100% agree with you concerning Baldwin versus Nickal; 2 completely different issues.

LMFAO. Wanzek, who wrestles for the U. of Minnesota. Gee, what a surprise that you listed him. 2013-14, he redshirted, and went 18-4. Nothing memorable in his competitions in Opens. 2014-15, he went 16-12, including 7-4 in dual meets, and 3-3 in the B1G. His 2 biggest wins were over #15 (at the time) Jesse Stafford of Air Force, and #18 (at the time) Dakota Friesth (Wyoming). (I'm pretty sure neither were ranked at the end of the year.) 2015-16, I believe he opened his campaign this past weekend at the Gopher Duals. He went 2-1, defeating a guy from S. Dakota St. and a guy from Grand Canyon, and lost to an unseeded guy, true freshman Fox Baldwin from Virginia. I give you credit for giving me a good laugh.

He should also be happy to see Gulibon back at #1 in Flo's rankings.

#1 and Jimmy having trouble winning the starting nod according to rumors, If true, That's depth. Getting excited for the real information from Cael tomm.

Going thru Thorn's 2015 -- D1 starters only:
- 3-2 loss to Bengtson
- 10-3 loss to Dardanes
- 5-4 loss to Dziewa
- 11-2 loss to Port
- decked by Shyheim Brown (!) 5:56
- complete list of wins against D1 starters: "."

But obviously it's Nickal whose ranking is undeserved.

And now up to 14th on Intermat.

Actually, that's inaccurate. He's not "now up to," as that conveys that he was moved in this week's poll. He was 14th in last week's InterMat rankings, and he's 14th in this week's InterMat rankings. Then again, why quibble about accuracy.

He tried to say Nickal "has peaked" at #14, but that was auto corrected to "up to." Even his computer doesn't believe everything he says.

Now that is some funny stuff jefe....well played sir. Well played

Congratulations on cherry-picking the Minnesota Homer Rankings.

Meanwhile, back on earth:
Flo: Gulibon 9, Thorn 15.
Intermat: Gulibon 6, Thorn 11.

While Jammie is cherry picking rankings and J Rob is mulling over suitable Florida real estate options, Cael and staff are busy cherry picking the next class of champions.

Well, that didn't take long: http://www.win-magazine.com/v2/2015/12/nc-state-moves-up-in-wins-dec-7-rankings-and-tpi/

12. Tommy Thorn Minnesota RSFr. NR
13. Jimmy Gulibon Penn State Jr. 11th
I haven't invested too much time looking at WIN's college rankings but if they are anything like their high school rankings of recent years...
