No surprise we're #1. However, they seem to have made a mistake as I can't find Minnesota anywhere.

I agree. Wouldn't be surprised if they are in that 8-15 range. Not a serious title contender thoughMinny will be much better than is commonly supposed.

I'm not surprised to see Michigan so high. In the post I made yesterday, on projecting Flo Team Rankings, I only examined 5 teams that I had pre-selected. However, while I was checking on the rankings in each weight class for those 5 teams (PSU, Ok. St., Iowa, Ohio St., Cornell), I kept noticing Michigan listed, and wondered if I should have included them. Below is how Michigan wrestlers are ranked in Flo's Preseason Rankings per each weight class.
125 - 6
133 - 8
141 - 18
149 - 9
157 - 5
165 - NR
174 - 12
184 - 12
197 - 5
285 - 2
That's a pretty solid lineup, and if they get on a roll at Nationals they could be a serious contender. Having only 1 weight class where they have a NR (Not Ranked) is better than Okla. St (2), Iowa (4), Ohio St. (4), and Cornell (4).
They didn't appear even when I hit the "Load More" button. Oof.
Michigan is going to be tough this year. Their only "hole" is 41 and I don't know if you can even call it that. Whether it's Fisher or Zac Hall the starter will probably be ranked.
They have returning AA's at 25, 33, 57, 97 and a returning finalist at Heavyweight. The others are BIG Champ Abounader, Pantaleo who is very solid and probably going to make noise this year, Mahomes (who was on a tear before being injured) and the curious situation at 65. I say curious because Sutton is an NQ, and might be a third option depending on the Massas. Taylor has been a mystery and I don't know if its weight management (or if he can't get down anymore) or what but when he is on he is at least AA material. Definitely better at 65. Logan is only the number 2 overall recruit in the country coming in...so they have "options".
Lots of solid teams this year and Michigan could definitely be in that top five category. If a couple guys get on a roll watch out. Very good as a dual team as well.
Now that is some funny stuff...nice work.
From NC T-shirts to out of the preseason top 20 in 2 years....I can hear it now all the little goofers yelling "Im gonna be somebody" and in respect to this years team, they can have that to hang on too
Well, you missed some good wrestling. That's a shame.I didn't even know Penn State wrestling existed until you joined the B1G.

A rising tide lifts all boats, indeed.
So much for that really long memory.Well, I was five years old then and not yet following college wrestling.

Fisher should be improved this year at 41 as last year he was a 33 wrestling up due to Sutton retiring. Hall is better on his feet than Fisher, but Fisher is better everywhere else, should be an interesting wrestle off.
Taylor has a number of issues that led to his poor performance last year, but yes making weight was one of them, would be shocked if he tries to get down to 165 again even if he could. Kid has talent as shown by his round of 12 finish as true frosh, but he just wasn't that wrestler last year, frankly unless he has had a complete 180 Mahomes is beating him out.
Logan Massa I would assume will be the starter at 165 as he is easily the best there and McFarland avoids redshirting true frosh like the plague much to my dismay. He may not be ranked now but it won't take him long and certainly can AA if he puts it together at NCAAs which is always the question mark for true frosh.
Got to get more from Pantaleo and Abounader at NCAA's this year. Abounader wins Big Tens and then goes 1-2. Pantaleo is the 6th seed as a true frosh and doesn't AA. Pantaleo is legit on his feet, he struggled with his almost nonexistent mat wrestling last year so hopefully he worked on that all offseason.
Looks like a much better dual than tourney team to me. Great balanceThanks for all this intel on Michigan! Yinzers got a super-compelling lineup this year and this post touches on its last remaining questions. With 165 one of our (relatively) weaker weights, I'm kinda psyched for Logan Massa to come in & give the Jordans some more formidable in-conference challenges.
And man, I feel ya on the not redshirting thing. It's totally crazy that Bruno, Pantaleo, Murphy, Abounader & Coon all have redshirts remaining. Murphy, Abounader & Coon have used two years of eligibility and Bruno has used three! Still, when it comes to this year, with Huntley granted another year, it's hard to argue against running all their hammers out again. This sh*t looks skrate beast:
125 Youtsey
133 Bruno
141 Fisher vs Hall (interesting note on the feet vs mat wrestling battle)
149 Pantaleo. Dude's woofed a little bit on the tweeter this offseason; let's hope he's improved on the mat
157 Murphy. I've dug this dude's toughness since seeing his first battle with Dylan Alton
165 Logan Massa
174 Taylor Mass vs Dante Mahomes. Interesting you think Mahomes will take him.
184 Abounader
197 Huntley
285 Coon
That's a super solid Dual AND Tourney team. Gonna be great fun watching them. Come back through here more please!

if only other companies found airtime during wrestling events to be a profitable time slot.Every time that corny commercial comes on, you have to finish your drink. You don't remember 125 by the time you get to HWT.

Agreed. Glad that wrestling companies do it, but after the 10th time, it gets to be much. Part of it is that I watch almost every dual on B10 Network, I guess.
If it's Rotel, BTN advertising is workingThe barrage of J Rob and Cliff Keane commercials make it hard to feel good about myself as sit there on the couch eating cheese ...
No sh**.I'm still working on developing the rest of the B10 Network Wrestling drinking game to incorporate common phrases from Jim Gibbons and Tim Johnson. It's all humor to me at this point. The CK commercial with Herbert has become pretty rough, too.
Basically, whenever either wants to cut me a check or creative direction, I'm waiting.
Could be, especially after he gets the whole team in a circle and has them jump up and down shouting "I'm gonna be somebody". But sadly we won't know any of their names.Minny will be much better than is commonly supposed.
Love it. Took a lot of flack when the gophers beat us in the dual here. Not being in the top 20 is amazing. No surprise we're #1. However, they seem to have made a mistake as I can't find Minnesota anywhere.

Took a while for me to remember who you were referring to, but pretty sure you mean Dutton. Sutton was pulled out of redshirt in late last year to fill 165.Michigan fan here, excellent review, my thoughts.
