My best guess... Minnesota
OK St
Hawkeyes
Nittany Lions
Maybe San Diego St. Is changing name to the Chickens. Also looks like Syracuse Orangeman might reinstate wresteling.
A note of interest; it has been 16 years since Syracuse dropped it's program. Gene Mills was one of toughest college wrestlers I witnessed. He didn't want to pin his opponent,he wanted to beat his compition into submission. It was like MMA .

My .02...

-Not aware of the Okie St connection.

-Iowa has Teasdale verballed (his buddy) and teaming with Spencer is a good sell for any recruit.

-PSU has Marky already and RBY verballed (both his buddies) and solid/proven upperweight coaching.

-Minny has his brother and likely numerous friends and a history of HWT success.

I'd guess it's ordered Minny, PSU, Iowa, and Okie St in probability...let's hope if not PSU, it's Minny! Sure would be a great get though!
Upperweight coaching? Couldn't Terry climb up on Steveson's back and hold on for dear life?

You never know what motivates a young man. Minn. is home and he can be with his brother. Great chance to win the first half of the BIG dual schedule some years. PSU offers the biggest stage and best chance for team and individual titles and to roll around everyday with Olympic Gold medalists around your size. Iowa offers great excuses in case your career doesn't work out as planned. Okie State offers the winningest program in history and little else for an upper weight. He will simply have to decide what he wants out of his career.

He was speaking of Minnesota about the upper weight coaching. And yes Terry can climb anywhere he wants.
But Turk, you have admit that there is funny!
Gable: "but, you guys only have that one Berhow guy for me to spar with?".
"Well, you've got me with my twin Terry on my shoulders - we've been training heavyweights like this for years".

I'm way out of the loop with the "slush fund" references as it relates to PSU wrestling. Anyone care to fill me in? Much appreciated.

Jealous fans of other programs convinced NLWC giving under the table payments, no other way Cael could stockpile that much talent.

You never know what motivates a grown man to constantly run down a rival program either. I think Iowa having the biggest stage in wrestling is the main reason he is even considering them

You don't really believe that do you? Iowa HAD the biggest stage, but that has moved East in a big way. PSU is the big stage for a college wrestler in this era. The PSU dual is Iowa's super bowl so to speak. The coaching, facilities, talent, results, media attention, and future are all better at PSU currently. Iowa is a big stage, but it isn't THE big stage any more. The big news from the BIG was PSU getting 2/nd. Iowa came in 3/rd and nobody thought that was news. The entire fan base has went from hopeful to down in the dumps. The only optimism there now is 2-3 years in the future. tOSU is the threat to PSU.

And....Iowa fans sure never run down the ISU program to make themselves feel important lol. The lead dog has a great view- everyone else is kind of staring at the same thing.

I'm not arguing that PSU is not the best team in college because they are hands down right now. I'm saying I think Iowa still has the biggest fan base in the country along with the biggest venue, if a kid wants to wrestle in front of the biggest crowds on the most occasions Iowa City is still the place it's gonna happen

Hard to say. I know tosu and osu drew huge crowds when PSU came to town this year. Iowa went to osu and the crowd was much smaller. Iowa will always draw big crowds, but the clubbing, pushing style is growing tired to the wide open wrestling fans.

Would LOVE to welcome Gable into the family!
I want Seth Nevills !!!! He is going to be the better college wrestler....But if we don't get him Gable is my 2nd choice...Tough call they are like 1A and 1a...

2 days ago weren't you all in on Gable? Don't have time to search your posts, but that's my recollection.

If so, you change your mind faster than a 14 year old girl trying on shoes at the mall

If a kid thinks wrestling in a half-full Carver is better than wrestling in a sold out and packed Rec Hall, he probably would choose Iowa. Of course, you'd have to wonder about him. ;)

CHA has a capacity of 15,500. In 2014-15, for example, the average attendance there for Iowa wrestling matches was 8358, roughly 54% of capacity (I rounded up in Iowa's favor). The closest they got to capacity was a match with Iowa State with a bit under 77%.

So, yes, Iowa has a big venue, but it's usually less than half-full. Not a big draw, imo.

Not a big draw in your opinion yet the link shows they lead attendance 10 straight years? I know I won't change any minds over here but the Iowa fan base isn't going anywhere, sure there are quite a few "fair weather " that haven't been showing up lately but hopefully that's about to change soon when we start beating you guys again:)

What are you not getting? Penn State sells out every match (and it's becoming true on the road also, look at tOSU this year). The only reason Iowa has higher attendance is that Penn State's attendance at Rec Hall is capped. CHA, in the meantime, is more than half-empty for almost every match. You don't understand the difference in atmosphere between a full venue and one that is more that half empty?

I think % of capacity sold is a much better measure of atmosphere for a college wrestling team. And you know which team leads in that category by a long shot.

I hope he either announces before the tourney or after. The tourney should be about all the kids wrestling in the biggest tournament of the year, not recruiting talk IMO

Perhaps he's decided he'll go to the team on his list that finishes best in St. Louis ;)

I get it just fine half of carver is still more people than sold out rec hall correct?? I was talking #'s pure and simple. You are the one trying to move the goalposts and argue something different, but since you did have you ever been to carver? The atmosphere is great even when not sold out but when it is, is unmatched imho( tho I've admittedly never been to rec hall)

The atmosphere is great but the popcorn sucks.

Been to Carver and color me impressed. Lots of seats and nice arena. And they have some very knowledgeable, friendly-to-outsider fans (even friendly to PSU fans if you're not an ignorant jacka$$).

I didn't move any goalposts. You made a vague, blanket statement without any facts behind it. I brought some facts into it. If you think a less-than-half full CHA has a better atmosphere than a packed Rec Hall, I'd suggest you go to a Lehigh match at a packed Grace Hall and one at a half-full Stabler Arena and see what you glean from the difference.

I've been to a lot a sporting events - wrestling, football, basketball, soccer (including a World Cup match), hockey (including Stanley Cup finals), baseball and more, at all levels. Nothing ever matched the level of energy reached in Bryce Jordan when Gulibon beat Clark in 2015.

Btw, CHA is about 1.5% "bigger" than Bryce Jordan, not really statistically significant.

Gulibon beat Clark? Damn that must have been awhile ago. An empty Carver Hawkeye arena has a better atmosphere than thr BJC. Come on man!
