Well if we don't get Gable, what's the chances we land Seth? A lot of you guys sound very confident he's coming if Gable doesn't and I hope you're right....
He's not going to make his brother transfer.
why not Clarion?I'm hoping for Bloomsburg
Is that like an Oxford comma?
Correct and the PSU coaching staff will determine how much scholarship money AJ will receive if any, that could also be a huge factor in deciding if AJ should enroll at PSU. AJ is a quality college prospect however he is not in the class of Nick or Seth, probably similar to oldest brother Zach.I was under the false notion that A.J. had not enrolled yet, thus eliminating the need for a transfer if he went elsewhere. Tough situation between brothers in any case. They all seem like really solid young men and very supportive of one another. I doubt anyone wants to lose A.J. if they get Seth. Sure would have been nice for A.J. to have remained a 197.
I don't get this "AJ going elsewhere" being anything more than some combo of bad trolling + Penn State Pessimism.
Could someone swoop in with an offer he can't refuse? Sure, but then why didn't they last year?
He's gonna leave because Snacks is coming? Fails the sniff test, badly. Do people seriously believe the coaches didn't discuss that scenario with him before he committed?
Fact is, the coaches discussed his plan with him before he committed. If he didn't intend to come to PSU after the grayshirt, he could've gone anywhere else this year, and be enrolled, working on his degree. He chose to come to PSU anyway.
IMO this is every bit as believable as the Rutgers Cruiseliner.
I have no inside info just trying to look at this logically. However, it is very expensive to attend PSU from as an out of state resident, add in the costs of traveling from California. In the last year things have changed:I don't get this "AJ going elsewhere" being anything more than some combo of bad trolling + Penn State Pessimism.

To give it credence assumes thatI have no inside info just trying to look at this logically. However, it is very expensive to attend PSU from as an out of state resident, add in the costs of traveling from California. In the last year things have changed:
1. Previously Seth was considering playing college football, that is no longer the case
2. AJ has outgrown 197. Is he the same prospect at 285 as he was at 197? If not, did his scholarship offer change?
Do we know if AJ signed a letter of intent and how does his delaying enrollment affect it?
I hope PSU lands either Gable Steveson or Seth Nevills.

PSU is recruiting Gavin Hoffman of Montoursville. He is a junior who just won his second PA state title at 195.So with AJ outgrowing 197, and Cassar being out all year (thus being a high risk dependency) what does our future look like at 197? I haven't seen anything on the recruiting trail that tells us a 197 is coming into the room. Is it Stoudt after Cutch leaves. That gives us Cutch for next year, then 2 for Stoudt? We all know what we have in Cutch. He is having a great year for moving up a weight. He might even AA this year if he catches a break or two. Stoudt couldn't beat Cutch, so how is his development?
Just ponderings as we wait for the tourney to start.

I am not even sure what you are arguing about. To give it credence assumes that
1. Seth was not previously considering wrestling AND the PSU coaches had not expressed interest in him.
2. The PSU coaches did not discuss with AJ what happens if he grows to 285.
Neither of these is realistic, let alone both of them.

Just the fact that this is his third year in the program and he has yet to step onto a varsity mat. Nothing more than that. This isn't a bash-Cassar topic. You cannot control injuries, so none of this is slamming the young man. But you cannot pencil him into a lineup. We have Cutch next year, and with another year to build up he might be less mismatched against some of the bigger 197 types. We would only get Cassar for 2019 and then his eligibility expires. So even if he wrestles, the question is still the same ... what is in the pipeline for 197? Stoudt, then ... AJ would have had a 2-yr separation from Stoudt. So while we don't know how they would work out, at least they are in the room. What are the risk factors with Cassar?
I wouldn't say under rated, I would say he is giving max effort and wrestling to his ceiling at 197. That isn't under rated. He did win three B1G matches by the same score ... 3-2. But he is wrestling above his class, and doing better than anyone could have expected, and that is all credit to the young man.Cutch is so under-rated. A 184 pound kid, loses a wrestle off to Bo Nikal (who is a stud), goes up to 197 where guys are cutting to make weight and gets the #5 seed! That is so damn impressive. I know he wins alot of ugly matches, but they are still W's. Kid has so much heart. Man I hope he makes the semis!

it's complicated. Be careful reading anything into what the coaches say. We'll know soon enough what are the intentions of the Nevills' brothers.
Either Bo or Cutch next year (depending how much bigger Bo can get/chooses to get) then likely Bo the following year. Bo would have a tough time competing at the highest levels at 86kg while he's making 184.Hopefully Rasheed.
Bo is a small 84 pounder for real compared to others at the top....Either Bo or Cutch next year (depending how much bigger Bo can get/chooses to get) then likely Bo the following year. Bo would have a tough time competing at the highest levels at 86kg while he's making 184.

What's the deal here? This is the 2nd time he pushed his announcement back.
