Game 11: PSU @ Ohio State, Columbus OH, Nov 23, 12pm Fox

Had high hopes for Slade but seems he was a camp warrior. Despite his obvious issues here, he probably starts for nearly every other Big Ten team. Fresh start might be a good thing for him. Ford, Cain, Brown and the incoming RBs are more than enough for PSU.
Maybe he should grow his hair and he can use the letter that was sent as a reason for immediate eligibility.

I can’t imagine the negative backlash against Franklin on this board if Slade and Shorter both enter the portal....oh my.

With Slade (or any of the RBs) there are simply too many people to try to please with one ball. So, one there makes sense. Shorter doesn't make sense - he's having a rough time right now, but he's only a RS FR. Still plenty of time to prove himself and he could be 'the man' if he does.

Honestly one of the RBs was going to walk at the end of this year - I’d much rather it be Slade than any of the others. Other than the blocking, it’s hard to describe what Slade lacks but he doesn’t seem to have “it”. JB has developed nicely and provides leadership and Cain/Ford are must haves on the roster to continue to develop. I’d argue Ford has the most potential of all the backs. Hopefully we then have the opportunity to RS the two FL 4*s coming in next year.

Please. no way. 3 schools, maybe 5 tops.

Right. Believe that if you like. As ineffective as Slade has been he's played exactly zero games as a featured back. If you limited Barkley to four carries a game, my guess is you wouldn't have seen how great he is. Not that Slade is Barkley, but you need more than four or five touches a game to get into any kind of rhythm. When given the bulk of carries, both Cain and Brown have shown they can excel. I believe the same is probably true for Slade, but he's buried on the depth chart and when he does get a chance he hasn't made the most of it. Doesn't mean he's not a starter at other places - just not here. But, whatever.

He opened the season as the starter and played his way out of it. Fumbles, 2 ypc except for 8 foot hole he ran through against Michigan. Poor blocking.

For every team, there will be blue chip players that don’t work out. That’s why you want to recruit many of them, which JF has.

I still say the sample size is too small but just my opinion.

Hang on, you think Slade starts for every other big ten team? That is a joke right?

No way, maybe 2 or 3 big ten teams, max.
He started for us this year. Other than Wisconsin and OSU, he’d have a good shot anywhere.

Provided that Hamler plays and John O’Neil (if he is indeed reffing this game) doesn’t give it to OSU, I’m going to pull a homer and predict Penn State wins 27-24. Ohio State will be surprised that they can’t just blow us off the field, and will falter in front of a stadium that gets increasingly nervous as the game goes on.
