Football GAME THREAD: Penn State vs. Auburn

Not to complain when the game is in hand, but how was that ball spotted at the 7-yard line?

They just highlighted a pancake block by Brendan Strange - they should have checked with the loudmouth, know-it-all, football savants before highlighting his ability to block who would have told them Strange doesn't know how to block.

Going for it on 4th down at the beginning of the game almost cost it for us, but we squeaked it out…bwahaha.

Quit saying we. You are a troll and not a fan. This asswhipping is killing you
Killing me? I loved seeing Singleton dominate
On paper, we are far superior to Auburn. The fact anyone thought we might lose this game is insane
Should I apologize that I don't have low standards?
We did what we were supposed to do today unlike against Purdue. This is something that if a fan was happy about I wouldn't complain because we dominated. The Purdue game should have been nothing but "relief".

Exactly, ND barely beat awful Cal today to avoid opening 0-3.
And ND is awful this year--they should have never hired Freeman.
Ohio State beating them isn't an impressive win as I've said all along but their fans also didn't pretend it was--they were concerned after week 1 because they "escaped" meanwhile you and others "celebrated" beating Purdue as though they're a good team

So how bad is Auburn? Finley looked awful. Lions defense looks fast. So nice to see a run game especially against an SEC team. I can’t wait to see how these frosh RBs develop as they keep getting more games under their belts.
Exactly--Auburn is awful this year but we did what we're supposed to do against an awful team--last year we didn't. That's progress.

This team today looked nothing like the past two years Offense was crisp and efficient, with creative play calling and a killer instinct. Defense was strong throughout the game and just kept coming at Auburn. They attacked the whole game never gave Auburn time to breathe.
I believe this is Manny Diaz's and Mike Yurkich's influence on each side of the ball. When is the last PSU game that left fans with really nothing to complain about. It would take some inane nitpicking to carp about anything this game.

Awful is not technically correct. Auburn played a good game until mid 3rd quarter
No, they didn't. We made mistakes that allowed them to hang around. Going for the 4 & short after Clifford took the big hit, countless missed tackles, not finishing drives. Auburn hung around because we allowed them to. In the second half we came out focused and crushed them. Well done. No complaints today but let's please not pretend Auburn is going to be competitive in the SEC. Maybe they beat Mizzou LSU or Miss State but there's 5 guaranteed losses left on that schedule.

Auburn is probably better than ND. LMAO - at you, not with you.
Auburn is better or on par with ND which means that aren't good.
Why do you think I think ND is good? They lost to Marshall then played poorly today against Cal
What do you think this comment means? Is it supposed to bother me in some way?

It’s funny that according to him almost any team we play we should beat because we have more talent than them (based solely on recruiting rankings), but other teams that have a lot of talent like ND are terrible also. Not sure how that works.

You're to dumb to understand what I'm referring to. LMAO.

ND shouldn't be losing to teams like Marshall or struggling with Cal but they're poorly coached. Freeman should have not gotten that job. Coaching matters which explains our last two seasons but that doesn't alter ND was expected to beat Marshall and their fans shouldn't be "happy" they escaped Cal.

Do you (or anyone) think Auburn wins more than 6 games this year? if not, why are we pretending I'm wrong.

I'm not at all--I just don't play your games
Just like the longer you go without admitting I was right about Purdue shows that you have absolutely no credibility.
If you understood the point of "the more talented team should win" you comprehend what my reply is about.
"too"*

So Franklin forgot how to coach for two years? And a lot of good teams wouldn’t win more than 6 games with Auburn’s schedule. Bet Auburn’s record would look a lot better in the ACC.

You can always find something that needs improvement, (3rd and long ??). ;)

That said, you’re right that this was the best overall performance on both sides of the ball in a few years. The team was a little sluggish in the first half and allowed Auburn to hang around but they put it all together to start the second half and took control. They prevented this from being a 1 score game late with the crowd rocking.

Overall, both the players and coaches deserve a lot of credit this week. Well done and at a stadium that’s not easy to play in as the visitor.

Good to see the run game get going and with more diversity that just handing off to a flat footed RB 5 yards deep in the backfield. The O line did very well today in protection and opening holes for the running game. That was actually surprising and great to see.

Notice how silent he is regarding duhO$U struggling against awful ND (and they have looked awful every week - almost lost to a bad Cal team today). ND gave duhO$U a good game at The Shoe in both teams' openers - it supposedly was an impressive win for duhO$U, but ND's performance since then says otherwise.

Would it? They barely beat SJSU. Syracuse beat Purdue who we struggled with yet we killed Auburn. Auburn doesn't have a QB. It would be a long year for them in the Sun Belt.
Franklin did not do a good enough job the last two years. You know, I know it and he knows it.

Diaz has been quite refreshing, and has really dialed up the pressure at key times.
No doubt that the Olinemen and TE's have more fun, and probably are more motivated, when they know they have a RB that take it to the House if they give him a crease.
Great point, as a former o lineman myself, having a crappy RB is kinda deflating. When great blocking gets you a 4 yard gain it’s hard to keep at it. When you know the dude behind you can take it to the house at any moment, you feel obligated to give that little extra.

And I agree--it's not impressive win for them. Even before they lost to Marshall I said their fans should have been disappointed with that outcome.
