Greg Kerkvleit transfers to Penn State

Oh Jeffy you are the best and thank you for proving my point.
Now the Kerk transfer I fully expected when KS sailed and anyone that thinks one is not connected to the other is wrong. That said KS did what he thought was best for his wrestling his family and lets not forget his pocket. If the result of that was getting another top recruit then well played PSU. If you think for a minute you or anyone on this board would not be complaining if the rolls where reversed you are nuts. I personally think he is R12 at best right and Seth beats him out next season.
Stop that, now!!!!!!!!
You did tell us to call out stupid when it is posted, right?

Just a note (and this would probably be better to break it out into its own thread, Tom, feel free to do just that if you wish), Kerkvliet won't be eligible until semester break of the 2020-21 season, and will only have, at that point, 4 years left to wrestle 3. So he could either wrestle the second half of the 2020-21 season, and then wrestle in 2021-22 and 2022-23, or sit the rest of 2020-21, and have the 2022, 2023, and 2024 postseasons to wrestle.

Did Kirkvliet already sit a year ('18-'19)? Or, did tOSU not grant him a free transfer to another B1G school and thus losing a year?

I don't pretend to understand all the eligibility and transfer rules, but why would Kerk be limited to three seasons of wrestling? Did he lose some eligibility in the transfer process? If so, that would be different from a recent prominent example.

I get why Kerkvliet can’t wrestle until January 2021, but I don’t understand why he would lose a year of eligibility this year. FLO said that he’d be using the Olympic redshirt this year.

He broke his NLI by not completing the year at Ohio State.

Kerk is HS Class of 2019.

Only if Tan Tom doesn't grant him a release, right? And then Kerk would presumably file a Suriano Appeal with the conference ...

Also, dumb question but what happens if Kerk takes online Ohio State classes this spring? He would thus still be an enrolled Ohio State student for the full year (albeit training at NLWC). He was taking online classes this semester ...

I believe I read he is taking tOSU on line classes right now.

Don't think it's possible to release somebody from an NLI after they've enrolled, and this isn't a conference penalty, this is an NCAA/Collegiate Commissioners Association penalty. (those two entities jointly run the NLI program, should be noted that participation in the NLI program is voluntary, but everybody at the Division I level except the Ivies and service academies participate)

In the event I wish to be released from my NLI obligation, the NLI release request and appeal process information can be reviewed on the NLI Web site at http://www.nationalletter.org/releaseAndAppeals. I understand that the NLI Policy and Review Committee has been authorized to issue interpretations, settle disputes and consider appeals for complete release from the provisions of the NLI when extenuating circumstances are determined to exist and the signing institution denies my request for release. I further understand the Committee's decision may be appealed to the NLI Appeals Committee, whose decision shall be final and binding.

OK, then he appeals to the NCAA.

And if that doesn't work, then he files for a 6th year based on his knee injury preventing him from competing this year. NCAA has been giving out 6th years like candy.

If Justin Fields was able to transfer without sitting out, not sure how the NCAA forces anybody else too. Of course it is the NCAA, so who knows what they will do.

Had my youngest at King of the Mountain in Colorado Springs today. Kerk was there working security for the tournament. He has never looked that big on screen. Standing next to him, he's huge!!! Good day overall, the boy won his bracket with 4 pins. Still no offer from Cael.

How about them Huskers winning CKLV, something Penn State has never done!

Jesus, what a loser. That is all you have? One of your 3 or 4 favorite teams wins another meaningless tournament and you run over here and try and use it to take a shot? What is really sad is you don’t even see how pathetic you are. Now run on over to HR and share high fives over you contribution to the “cesspool”.

Ski, I suspect your response is exactly what jammen was hoping for.
