Hidley is so much better........

I get Penn State fans don't like Berger but Berger is doing what he needs to do. If he doesn't believe he can win, he never will. He may not anyway. But whether it is true belief or false bravado doesn't matter. He has to convince himself he has a shot or why show up?

As for his style.... none of that matters tonight. If he dances and dodges all night and somehow comes out with a 3-2 win, it's STILL a win and a National Title. It is not a requirement of a National Championship to win pretty.

That said, I expect Nolf to handle him and win fairly easily. But if Nolf loses, it won't matter whether Berger wrestled Nolf aggressively or defensively. It will still be an upset loss.

wasn’t there some joe pa quote about this? It was something like

you're never as bad as you feel when you lose; and you’re never as good as you think you are when you lose

He is signaling how many of his own fingers Jason is going to shove up his own butt. Either that or how many times Jason will beat him in one season, with tonight being so ugly it will count as two. I hope he gets Jordaned. Its like this kid has no memory.
I think he is showing how many 1 pt escapes he is going to have in the first period against Jason!;)

It happened for Kaleb Young against Deakin. Kaleb Young is not named Nolf.
Don't you know it's all a giant conspiracy. The rules are wrong, Cael owns the refs, get rid of folk style, everyone is stalling, etc. etc.

It is a requirement of referees to call stalling.

If a wrestler "dodges and dances," and wins 3-2, it's likely that the ref failed to call stalling, which helped a less worthy wrestler win the title.

And then, in such a case, I am by no means required to respect such a national title

But, of course, Jason ought to get it done

Whether you respect it or not, it would still be a National Title and I'd guess he wouldn't care. There are different styles of wrestling and some are more defensive. Just because a guy plays D more than opening up the offense, as long as he's doing so within the rules, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Look, I'm sorry, but that's simply nonsense. What you just described with dancing and dodging is STALLING, which is NOT within the rules.

Okay, ignore the terms dancing and dodging and replace them with wrestling defensively and winning 3-2. The point is the same, yet you want to pick on certain words. Sorry I didn't use your preferred terms.

The bottom line is if he doesn't get called for stalling and wins, he is a National Champion, whether you like the strategy or not!

It's not the same

"Dodging" implies preventing action, which is quite literally ILLEGAL.

Thank you for changing your language to something more correct.

As for your last quote, this is all I have to say: "Success without honor is an unseasoned dish." - Joe Paterno

It's a good thing we won't have to worry about it happening... and thank you for being the internet police. I feel much better with you in charge.
