I’m smelling Roses!

No way Wisc gets the Rose if they lose the Big Ten Champ game. Three losses, one to a basement dweller and blown out 2x by the top team.

I still think Minne will get the nod over us. From the Rose Bowl site:

Should a team from the Big Ten or Pac-12 be selected to go to the College Football Playoff, the Tournament of Roses will traditionally select the next-highest CFP-ranked team from that conference. There is, however, a caveat to that clause in the contract.

“If the next-highest ranked team is in a ‘cluster’ of teams, meaning there is another team or teams from the same conference ranked within several spots of each other, the Tournament of Roses will select the team from that cluster that will result in the best possible matchup for the Rose Bowl Game,” said Rose Bowl Management Committee Chair Scott Jenkins.

Minne will be within a few spots and they will get chosen, imo. If we stay ahead of Florida and now Bama, we’re Orange Bowl bound.

Best possible matchup and you’re thinking Minn?

It’s about eyes and $

I said Rose Bowl about 6 weeks ago and I haven't changed my prediction. Minny doesn't draw like Penn State. So I still give PSU the nod.

I think Minnesota eliminated themselves with the blowout loss today. The committee definitely takes blowout losses into account.

If Wisconsin keeps it around 10 points or less in the big title game they might just go ahead of us.

I thought that also but with 3 losses it is really hard to put Wisky in the Rose ahead of us.

If osu wins itll be us. I prefer to play Utah and not Oregon.

Penn State made the wrong statement today with their lackluster effort against a terrible team who out efforted them today. Very disappointing.
I agree they have a way of getting in their own way. Who would have thought that at the beginning of the season we would be 10-2 and that Minnesota would be our stumbling block to the CFP and Rutgers possibly to the rose bowl. Its great being 10-2, but also disappointing. A double edged sword.

Penn State had a chance to impress today and did everything but. Wisconsin deserves that nod over us IMHO. They travel every bit as well as us and they are earning it on the field. Being 2-2 over the last 4 games and looking lackluster in the 2 wins is not very encouraging.

Losing to Illinois and blown out by OSU isn’t any more impressive than our two loses

The committee supposedly looks at the entire season. The UW loss to Illinois will bite them.

yeah, if Minny kept it close maybe they would have had a chance.

I guess we hope tOSU blows out Wisconsin

PSU certainly didn't impress today. To be honest I would have kicked the FG to make the score 30-6. It sucks to do that but style points matter.

Even so, PSU played a more difficult schedule than Wisconsin. PSU played 6 consecutive bowl teams, 4 of them on the road (@ Iowa, Michigan, @ Michigan State, @ Minnesota, Indiana, @ OSU). Wisconsin lost to OSU by 31 pts while PSU lost by only 11 pts. IMO the only way Wisconsin should go before PSU is if they upset OSU in the BiG title game.

And most importantly, Wisco lost to Illinois.

That’s what it will take for Wisky to go to The Rose Bowl.

So dumb....so a loss to Illinois is better than a 27-6 win over Rutgers? Come on, be serious.

We also played without our starting QB and two of our top defensive players...and they will all be back for the bowl game. Hopefully the committee is smarter than a lot of our fans.
Are we sure YGM will play in the bowl? I'm seeing him projected as a #1... and I think we might have caught a glimpse of how much he matters to that D Line.

All that aside, I think if we're set to play a highly rated opponent and come in fresh, we'll do just fine. Just no 12 o'clock games... and win the damned coin tossm for crying out loud lol

Florida isn’t the sec team to worry about for the Orange bowl, it’s alabama. If Georgia loses the sec cg they are going to the sugar bowl and Alabama is the next sec team looking for a home.

I doubt we will be ranked ahead of Florida OR Bama. I'm thinking Florida, Wiscy and maybe even Auburn all jump us this week in the CFP and Bama will stay ahead of us. Minny will drop below us and if Wiscy loses next week they will drop back down below us as will the Baylor/OU loser but Florida and Bama will be just in front of us in the next poll.

yeah but they now have Herbie lobbying for them to go to the Rose.

I think that tune will change if they lose by a significant margin next week.

They say that the committee shouldn’t punish them for playing an extra week but if they lose by like 24 it will impact the decision.

At the end of the season we want penn state to be the only team that gave Ohio state a legitimate fight.

If that is what happens we should be rose bowl bound.

Florida might jump us but Auburn won’t with three losses. One thing the committee has been consistent about over the years is fewer losses is better.

Yes they will punish us for winning with a back up QB & other starters out injured. You people are idiots.
I don’t think many of these posters realize other people don’t look at our games as closely as we do....they will see a 27-6 win and figure we handled the game....they won’t nitpick that we didn’t win it by as much as the fans think we should have.

They were serious. It wasn’t an off the cuff comment. They talked about it for a few minutes (to fill time in a blowout game).
Point wasn’t that they weren’t serious. But a big part of their focus involves creating and driving debate. So they tell people what position they should take. It’s all scripted, or at least game-planned.

It's not just the fans, anybody with a brain will think that we should have won this game by more than we did. And if anyone does not, what does that say about us? Let's talk about the game stats and consider once again the opponent. Gotta love the spin doctors defending this one.

It doesn’t matter where the committee ranks anyone outside the top 4. The bowl select who they want. When OSU beats Wisky, the Rose will choose the ram they want out there regardless of where they are ranked. PSU Wisky and Minny will all be ranked from 8-13 probably when all said and done. It’s just between Wisky and PSU now. Minny will solve a lot of contractual problems for Citrus

Either will sell out the Game. Tv ratings will rule out and you can make a case for Minn and their ****ing row boat.
