I hope he gives Franklin recommendations on who to hire. He made our offense great. Remember how bad it was with Donovan? Moorhead does not know how to use Barkley, though, and Barkley should go pro.

Look to the Big 12; they don't know how to play defense but have four teams in the top ten in total offense so far for 2017.

I think he clearly DOES know how to use Barkley. But he can't open holes for him with this line. Nobody else could, either.

I hope he moves on, to one of those western schools who win or lose games with both teams scoring 50 pts.

Barkley was completely sub-optimized in this offense, and that's a shame. A world-class, Heisman-caliber athlete being consistently held to under 100 yds/game.

The problem with the offense seems pretty clear to me.

Trace is not a run threat. AT ALL. Just watch him. He almost falls over each time he takes off. If by chance he gets through the hole with his eyes closed (which is what it looks like to me) then perhaps he lifts his head and starts running and gets a good gain.

So considering this, why are we putting Trace and SB at a disadvantage by stopping them both in the middle of the backfield? Defenses just wait for that to occur and track Barkley.

Barkley needs to be getting the ball with speed hitting the hole when it is there, not after it closes.

What Trace is very special at is avoiding the sack. He did so a lot yesterday. He is a great QB for us.

Let's stop playing to their weaknesses and move to their strengths.

It seems that a change at OL coach could be in order. If Moorhead stays, Franklin should give Moorhead total autonomy over position coaches on offense.

Who was the guy who coached OL under O'Brien - Strollo? Is he still around? The OL played very well those years.

This is about the best analysis I have seen. The OL is getting blamed for for being miss used. Holes would be there if they running game wasn't sideways forever. The discussions regarding the mesh have eluded to this same point.

The story this week will be how Barkley has fallen out of Heisman contention with the second story being what happened to Penn State’s running game. I’m not sure Moorhead is still the no brainer hire he was a year ago.

the window for going to the CFP with Moorhead was 2016. If Penn State had beaten Pitt, or scored a few more TDs vs Michigan, who knows what might have been.

It was a given that opponents would figure Moorhead out this year. He's not up against weak coaches. Moorhead has to go become a HC, or his stock will keep falling. He has an uphill battle, though, to getting a HC job. I don't know how he will explain no running game with SB on the roster.

I think McSorley is a decent runner. The bigger problem is the RPO develops too slowly for a weak offensive line. The first guys through take Barkley. The rest go after McSorley and you take your chances with our receivers one on one. By the time McSorley is ready to run, he has nowhere to go.

I don't agree. Watch his big run from yesterday. He almost falls (as is his standard) then bumps into our OL on the way to the hole.

Trace is a great pocket guy. But he seems to close his eyes when it is time to run. Once he's at the next level sure he runs well.

His runs in general seem like he falls into the line every time.
