IMar to 165

At the highschool level he really was a bull but that strength will be quickly negated at the next level. I'd be surprised if he reached the podium. I think he'd be better served to redshirt.

From wrestling and watching wrestling over 40 years, my observation is that guys who out- muscle their opponents at the high school level are very likely to struggle at the college level. Everybody is strong at the college level and many are 3-4 years older than a college true freshman. It's a whole different world.

All I was saying was it could be more than a +4 for PSU, though not a certainty. There are so many scenarios that could happen between 149-174 now that Imar is going up, that it is impossible to predict. Heck Sorensen might move up to 157 and take his chances with Nolf. He already knows his chances with Zain.

I think if BoJo was on the fence with going 165, 2 more years with Imar sealed the deal. The issue for tOSU is then Myles goes 184 and gets Gabe Dean, so i'd call that a -4 for Myles. The only benefit I see for tOSU is Micah moves up a podium spot at 149.

Overall I see it at worst being a net gain for PSU of 1 or 2, but at best it could be a +7 to 9. Either situation appears to be good for us.

Here are a few All-Star match-ups that I would gladly pay to see: Gliman-Clark, Sorenson-Heil, Retherford-Nolf, IMar-Isaac Jordan, BoJo-Nickal, and Cox-Snyder. Yeah, I know some of these guys are on the same team!

I don't think that will be BoJo's call. Tan Tom's lineup will have either Isaiah White at 165 or Jack Rozema at 184.

Does Martin red shirt this year?
As of today, no. Tan Tom made it pretty clear last year that he's all in, when he pulled Martin's and especially Snyder's shirts for a hypothetical shot at the title with Hunter Stieber still pretty iffy.

If Snyder decides to not return after the Olympics, that might change things.

What's Gregory M. saying?
zilch. Most seem to project MyMar at 184 as if it is a done deal, with the real discussion centered around BoJo. Does he go 165 or 174. Personally, I see it as White at 165, BoJo at 174, and Martin at 184. That's the best they could put on the mat. If Ryan doesn't think he wins the title next year, then both White and Martin may RS. Of the big four, I'd pick tOSU as #4 at this moment.

That isn't true. The difference from 1st to 2nd is 4 points. The difference from 3rd to 4th is 1 point. Everybody who wasn't 1st only drops 1 point, while the guy in 1st loses 4.

By your theory, Nolf gaining 4 would be washed out by everyone else at 157 gaining 4.

Actually it depends which place you drop to--2nd to 3rd drops 2 points; 4th to 5th drops 2 points.

How about this prediction? PSU with 2 undefeated National Champs (Nolf and Retherford) and finish 1 and 2 for the Hodge. Might be a long shot with IMar and Snyder in the mix but wouldn't that be sweet? Has that ever happened before?

Yes, in 2012 Taylor won the Hodge and Ruth was runner-up.

Actually it depends which place you drop to--2nd to 3rd drops 2 points; 4th to 5th drops 2 points.
... and that's average. The range last year for top 4 are:

1st___ 23.4 pts, with a range of 20 - 28.5 pts
2nd___ 19.7 pts, with a range of 17 - 22 pts
3rd___ 16.4 pts, with a range of 13.5 - 20.5 pts
4th___ 15.0 pts, with a range of 12.5 - 19.5 pts

So a high bonus 4th place guy can score as much as a non-bonusing 1st place guy.

1st--16
2nd--12
3rd---10
4th-9
5th-7
6th-6
7th-4
8th-3

Aah. . .PS85. ..you type to fast for me!
Man, you act like you were born and raised down south!! Pick up the pace.. :)

Proving once and for all that copy/paste is faster than our old fingers.

I think if OSU Redshirts everyone, then puts out a lineup of this in two years:

125- Tomasello
133- Pletcher
141- Hayes
149- Jordan
157- Ryan
165- White
174- Jordan
184- Martin
197- Moore or land a guy like Warner or Singletary
HWT- Snyder

They will be right there again. I think slotting them all in this year might be a little too eager development wise and you could see a situation like OKST where some of the potential isn't realized immediately

I need to move back up north again! But you know something about living down south!! Actually, while typing, I'm sweating like crazy in 100 temp with no electricity right now.

tOSU will be brutally good in two years. They have a strong nucleus this coming year, but in my mind are still building to what you show for 2018.

Adding in the Advancement Points, correlating to finish, and we have;

PLACEMENT POINTS and ADVANCEMENT POINTS
1st place: 20 points (16 + 4)
2nd place: 16 points (12 + 4)
3rd place: 13.5 points (10 + 3.5)
4th place: 12.5 points (9 + 3.5)
5th place: 10 points (7 + 3)
6th place: 9 points (6 + 3)
7th place: 6.5 points (4 + 2.5)
8th place: 5.5 points (3 + 2.5)

Some could be .5 points off, depending on pigtails or travel through wrestle-backs, but this is close.

I hope that is you just joking with me.

Talking mainly about AA status: I think the Bull has a real shot at somewhere between 5th and 8th.

I believe Cenzo has a real shot at Saturday night and IMar in the final, he'll need to beat Isaac, and I think he can.

You are simply amazing! To nail down who Cenzo will need to beat to get into the finals is just astounding. How do you do that 10 months out? Since I have you here, what seed do you have Cenzo grabbing? And how the hell do you know he's on the same side as Isaac?

I have Cenzo with a 3 seed, and IMar a 1 seed.

I also have Accdia Healthcare and Burlington Stores in the stock market,;)

I don't think 21 Guns really means to get folks all riled up, I think he's just a really passionate homer. Let's cut him some slack.

Do any of you guys that attend the PSU practices have any idea how Vincenzo Joseph does against Nolf or Nickal? Maybe even Retherford? I wish they had catch-weights at the Classic, or even had teammates wrestle! You guys are so stacked that practices are probably better than most dual meets, LOL

That is a VERY generous assessment of 21Guns. I am CERTAIN he wants to rile everyone up. He also posts on themat.com where he is also universally hated. Doesn't rile me any more as I have him on ignore, where he belongs.

Those are great questions. I'll say there is one person here that has answered a couple of those from time to time. I have yet to nail down whether he's full of shit or not though....

... and adding in bonus by where guys finished,

1st place: 3.4 pts
2nd place: 3.7 pts
3rd place: 2.9 pts
4th place: 2.5 pts

Jason Nolf and Thomas Gilman skewed the numbers for 2nd place bonus, but you can see the declining trend by AA. The average guys score a lot fewer bonus at nationals than we think. By the way, Nolf and Gilman would have ended up 2nd and 3rd respectively on most points earned at nationals (behind Zain and ahead of Ringer) if they had won their finals matches.

I have all the numbers but can't find 5th and 6th places. For 7th/8th, those guys average one bonus point for the tournament. So remember when someone enters wrestlebacks early, history says that bonus points are a low factor. Probably because they are trying to conserve energy for the next bout and aren't striving for the extra td.

Kemerer will make the podium, You underestimate him...He is legit!! He is not on Nolf level however, but only IMAR is

I would not be surprised if Kemerer gets 3rd
It will be interesting to see how Kemerer has developed his skill set.
I expect him to be pretty good, but to chase 2nd, 3rd or 4th as a freshman he will need to do more than attempt to brow beat people into submission. That statement isn't about the kid, more so about the style of his development environment.

You don't know? Pretty sure tomsc is your fellow South Carolina resident, who posts as tom1973 on scout. Of course, I have been wrong before.
I knew he wasn't in SC, as he mentioned it being 100 degrees. It's cloudy and rainy down here.

165 pounds could prove interesting. With IMAR at the weight does cousin Issac follow Bo to 174? Issac was never going to beat Dieringer and Martinez is at the least every bit as good.
If Issac Jordan decided to remain at 165 it is not a far reach to picture Vincenzo wrestling him in the semi-finals at nationals next year.

As far as how does Joseph do in practice against the other big horses. I have not witnessed any practice battles, but I have talked with a bunch of people who have seen those practices and they all share a similar opinion - the kid is for real and competes evenly.

Of course the tournament a few weeks ago should have shown us all he is the real deal. Even more fun coming this weekend.
