It's funny that the Thread "Deniers" don't see the obvious. Hundreds of Convenient, Informative, Optimized Summaries have been Censored away.
Examples:
A poster could put something like this in his subject line : Article Link. That alone would save lots of time, for those who wanted to quickly go straight to a link to see an article on the topic being discussed.
Someone might add their Subject Line Title: Big Ten Network Response... or Court Grants Paterno's Request... or New PSU Recruit Gets Rivals 4 Star, plus a 5 Star & 4 Star. Again, people could quickly see major additions to an item being discussed and go right to that post. Or, perhaps they could get all the information they wanted just in the Subject line.
You can go on and on with endless examples, of how each poster could essentially be adding a new twist, new information, new links, a funny response, etc, and viewers could see what was being added, just by scanning the subject lines.
Readers could pick up tons of information right off of the subject lines and if they wanted to burrow in at that spot they could. Or, if they wanted to, they could hit one button to see the entire thread in order, as they are now.
Instead of hundreds of lines of Focused Summary Information, which often had lots of detail too, we are left with a handful of subject lines.
The end result of taking away hundreds of individual Subject Lines is a Very Poor Access launching platform. It is devoid of hundreds of points of richer information, that can no longer be quickly scanned, to optimize and essentially customize the experience for every reader.
People want things the way they want them.
To the Topic View Leisure Suiters...
Fine if you want limited variety and lack of choice, but for those who've experienced freedom of choice, the Big Brother Dictator Mode isn't a good fit.

Examples:
- With the Topic view, you see one subject line "Title" per thread.
- But with Thread View, you could see hundreds of what are essentially "Title" lines. Each one could be rich with key information.

- Thread View gave far more ability to Customize and Optimize the reading experience for every single poster.
- Readers could choose the information they wanted as a brief summary, or if they wanted more information, they had hundreds of choices of where they could go for more information... selected the way THEY wanted to see it.

- This limited Topic View only version is a far more backward setup than what was on the site before. Yes there are some more "features" in some cases. it is probably more stable.
- From a content and access point-of-view, Topic View Only is a major step backward, dramatically shutting down access to hundreds of quick Information Access points.
- Now readers are blinded and far less likely to quickly see where there might be a key piece of information that is most important to them.
Instead of hundreds of lines of Focused Summary Information, which often had lots of detail too, we are left with a handful of subject lines.
- The richness of many creative, informative individual summary inputs is Censored away.
- That's a huge drawback and an enormous time killer.

Example: Instead of getting to choose the clothes you get to wear, from a wide variety, with a richness of expression, information and humor, we are stuck with a limited selection of "Leisure Suits" where One Narrow Variation is forced onto everyone.
